Upon being located in the cold storage, both Qin Donghai and Hua Mingyue were found unconscious from the cold and were immediately rushed to the hospital. The doctor informed them that Hua Mingyue was suffering from temporary hypothermic shock but was otherwise fine and could be discharged after some rest. Qin Donghai was also cleared to leave. Soon after, Hua Mingyue regained consciousness, and Qin Donghai hurried to her side.
Confused, Hua Mingyue recalled a kiss and wondered if she had merely dreamt it. Chen Jingran pressed Qin Donghai to explain himself. Hua Mingyue then directly asked Qin Donghai about what happened in the cold storage. Qin Donghai admitted that he had kissed her to transfer body heat, fearing for her life. Outraged, Hua Mingyue accused him of ruining her over twenty years of innocence.
At this point, Gao Ren and Hao Shuai, mistaking her anger for their past actions, quickly confessed to taking her to a hotel, clarifying that nothing untoward had happened there. Hua Mingyue then realized that the online scandal about "one woman and three men" had stemmed from their actions that night, orchestrated by her brother. She chastised Qin Donghai, Gao Ren, and Hao Shuai, holding them responsible for her current homeless situation. Brother Fei intervened, telling them to write reflections.
Hua Mingyue, however, exempted Gao Ren as he was busy with the mini-program, Hao Shuai after he offered to perform a chore ("wash Qin Xiaowang" for a month), and Brother Fei as he wasn't present at the hotel incident. But she sternly ordered Qin Donghai to write a reflection detailing his "criminal motive" for taking her first kiss, insisting he continue writing until she was satisfied.
Later, Qin Donghai privately questioned his impulsive actions, wondering if he had fallen for Hua Mingyue. Chen Jingran accidentally discovered Qin Donghai’s reflection, learning about the kiss, and became furious. He confronted Qin Donghai, accusing him of being a "love rat" for causing Hua Mingyue’s scandal and then forcibly kissing her. Qin Donghai countered that he was Hua Mingyue's husband and was responsible for her, and questioned Chen Jingran's right as a "former fiancé assistant" to meddle in their affairs.
Their argument was interrupted when the workshop director entered and tearfully knelt before Qin Donghai, confessing to sabotaging the machines to frame Hua Mingyue and acting as a spy for headquarters, reporting on their activities. However, he insisted that locking Qin Donghai and Hua Mingyue in the cold storage was an accident, not intentional. Qin Donghai revealed that he had long known the director's true allegiances but had chosen not to expose him, hoping he would repent.
He forgave the director but made him promise not to tell Hua Mingchen about his exposure. Chen Jingran questioned Qin Donghai's leniency, but Qin Donghai explained it was better to forgive and that the director might be useful in the future. Later, Qin Donghai read his reflection to Hua Mingyue. He meticulously detailed the incident, explaining his actions as "humanitarian hospice care" to save her life when they were trapped.
Hua Mingyue was unimpressed, retorting that a first kiss should be filled with emotion, not mere humanitarianism. Qin Donghai then admitted to experiencing "physiological reactions" during the kiss, describing a feeling of his body acting independently of his mind, a "reason defeated by sensibility." He acknowledged his "weak willpower" and failure to control his behavior, promising to respect women and refrain from "actions exceeding boundaries" in the future.
Hua Mingyue, though a bit flustered and calling him a "silly roe deer" and "steel straight man," accepted his apology, considering him barely "passed." In the workshop, Hua Mingyue found herself daydreaming about Qin Donghai's reflection, mesmerized by his diligent work. Chen Jingran, noticing her infatuation, tried to subtly criticize Qin Donghai. Inspired by Hua Mingyue's user feedback, Chen Jingran developed a new moisturizing essence.
Hua Mingyue, championing new sales strategies, named the essence "Hua Xiaoyang" and suggested developing a mini-program, "Hua Yang," to create new sales channels and reduce marketing costs, which Chen Jingran praised. Hua Mingyue then personally participated in promotional photo shoots and interacted with fans in a live broadcast, referring to herself as "Huahua." Their product quickly gained traction, and the factory began to recover, even resolving overdue wages.
Hua Mingchen, though surprised by First Factory's resurgence, dismissed it as a temporary fluke, still viewing Hua Mingyue as an incompetent "straw bag." Separately, Hua Mingchen was on a date with Ye Xue Er at a high-end restaurant, enjoying a limited-edition dessert set prepared by renowned chef William Klee. He disregarded a phone call from Yao Shengnan, who had been waiting for him at another restaurant for three hours for a business meeting.
Hao Shuai eventually found Yao Shengnan, who was angrily drinking alone as the restaurant closed. She expressed her frustration at being stood up and her resentment towards Hua Mingchen, vowing to "investigate thoroughly" and take him down, especially since she was bound by her father's wishes for a marriage alliance with him. The First Factory soon faced an unexpected inspection from the Environmental Protection Bureau, prompted by an anonymous tip about illegal waste discharge.
They requested samples for testing and ordered Chen Jingran to come in for questioning. Qin Donghai initiated an investigation, requesting surveillance footage of waste disposal and surrounding areas, suspecting sabotage. Workers, unsettled by the factory shutdown, gathered anxiously. Qin Donghai addressed them, assuring them that the factory was not engaged in illegal activities and that evidence favorable to them had been submitted, promising a resolution once the test results were back.
Infuriated, Hua Mingyue called Hua Mingchen, accusing him of orchestrating the raid to shut down First Factory and drive her to ruin. Hua Mingchen coldly admitted his intention was to make her experience loss, explaining his lifelong jealousy of her. He resented how their grandfather always favored Hua Mingyue, celebrating her birthdays lavishly while he and his mother were neglected, leaving him with deep, unhealed wounds from his childhood.
Qin Donghai then took the phone from Hua Mingyue, asserting to Hua Mingchen that he would not let First Factory close and would reclaim everything Hua Mingyue had lost. Later, Qin Donghai and his team reviewed the initial test results, which confirmed that the illegally discarded waste and the vehicle used were not theirs, pointing to a deliberate setup. However, the driver responsible for transporting the waste remained at large, delaying their ability to resume operations.
