Lin Qiang and Li Yan hurried to the cargo hold, only to find that all the meth Lin Qiang had meticulously marked the previous night was gone. Lin Qiang expressed her disbelief, stating that she had personally seen the meth and even tied a colorful rope as a mark on one of the boxes. Meanwhile, Zhang Xianhe visited Baoshan Cemetery to pay his respects at Sun Dapeng's tomb.
He mused on the twists of fate that led him to meet Sun Dapeng's daughter, Lin Qiang. As he prepared to leave, he noticed something concealed within the tomb. Retrieving a hidden envelope, he discovered a CD containing Fang Lin's drug-making formula. Zhang Xianhe immediately called Cao Yongming to relay his discovery, but his call was abruptly cut short when Luo Kun appeared, holding him at gunpoint.
Ma Hongtao then revealed that the entire sequence of events was his elaborate scheme. He had deliberately allowed Zhang Xianhe to fake his death and had left him a note, intending for Zhang Xianhe to leak information to the police. The goal was to use the police to eliminate Li Guohua, after which Ma Hongtao planned to retrieve the CD and escape.
Zhang Xianhe, now Ma Hongtao's captive, was told he would witness Ma Hongtao’s departure with the drugs and the CD before his own death. Ma Hongtao confessed his long-standing distrust of everyone around him, explaining that he had already ensured the drugs were swapped and that Li Guohua would be caught by the police. He also expressed his deep hatred for Zhang Xianhe, whom he once treated like a son, for colluding with the police and betraying him.
Realizing Ma Hongtao's true intentions, Lin Qiang quickly contacted Cao Yongming. She deduced that Ma Hongtao never intended for Li Guohua to transport the drugs, having set up a trap to keep them for himself. Lin Qiang inferred that the meth must have been transferred using a specific van from Dongling Market that had been seen entering and exiting the drying yard that morning.
She provided a detailed description of the van, noting its yellow "Dongling Market" lettering, heavy wear, and a license plate starting with "AP." After hearing Zhang Xianhe's incomplete call about the CD, Cao Yongming quickly formulated a plan: he dispatched Li Yan and his team to Dongling Market to intercept the meth, while Lin Qiang and Dazhuang were sent to Baoshan Cemetery to apprehend Ma Hongtao and rescue Zhang Xianhe, with additional police support converging on the cemetery.
Lin Qiang and Dazhuang soon encountered Ma Hongtao’s vehicle. Lin Qiang immediately turned her car to pursue him. Elsewhere, Li Yan located Luo Kun at the market with the drugs. A shootout ensued as Luo Kun resisted arrest, but Li Yan eventually subdued and arrested him. Lin Qiang and Dazhuang managed to force Ma Hongtao’s car to a stop. However, Ma Hongtao opened fire, gravely injuring Dazhuang. Despite his wounds, Dazhuang urged Lin Qiang to continue the chase.
Ma Hongtao deliberately led Lin Qiang’s car onto a broken bridge. Lin Qiang braked just before the chasm, but Ma Hongtao then attempted to ram her car off the cliff. In a desperate act, Zhang Xianhe, who was tied up in the back seat, struggled free and fought Ma Hongtao for the steering wheel, causing the car to stop and saving Lin Qiang's life. Lin Qiang rushed out to check on Zhang Xianhe, who was severely injured.
Ma Hongtao, though dazed from the collision, was not unconscious. He got out of the car, pulled out his gun, and shot Lin Qiang twice. As he prepared for a third shot, Zhang Xianhe, summoning his last ounce of strength, tackled Ma Hongtao, knocking the gun away. Ma Hongtao broke free and began to choke Lin Qiang.
With all her remaining fight, Lin Qiang managed to stab Ma Hongtao in the neck with Sun Dapeng's recording pen, causing him to fall. Just then, police reinforcements arrived, rescuing Lin Qiang and Zhang Xianhe. Three months later, the Ma Hongtao case was finally closed. Zhang Xianhe had once again left without a word.
Lin Qiang took on the responsibility of caring for Coco and regularly visited Cheng Jingsong in the hospital, where the doctors reported positive signs of recovery, with his brainwave frequency, eyelid twitching, and heart rate all improving. Coco, still missing her father, mentioned how he used to buy her meat floss buns. Lin Qiang promised to buy them for her every day, even an entire fridge full. Lin Qiang also visited Baoshan Cemetery to pay tribute to Sun Dapeng.
She listened to the recording pen he had left for her. In the recording, Sun Dapeng explained his undercover mission in Hongwa, expressing his love and regret for not being able to contact Lin Qiang. He shared his anguish over the devastating impact of drugs on children and families, declaring his willingness to sacrifice everything for their future. He recounted seeing Lin Qiang with Cheng Ji at a snack stall and expressed his joy at her healthy growth.
Sun Dapeng had believed he was on his final mission and would soon return to her, expressing his hope that she understood his choices and did not hate him. After listening to her father's words, Lin Qiang visited Cheng Ji, placing a bouquet of flowers at his memorial. She donned her police uniform, a dream she had now fulfilled, and reflected on the profound meaning of being a police officer.
She acknowledged the difficulties of the profession but resolved to continue, not for her father or Cheng Ji, but for herself, because she was a narcotics control policewoman. Upon her return to duty, Lin Qiang was awarded a second-class merit badge. Afterward, Cao Yongming, with a mysterious air, directed her to a laptop, telling her it contained someone she most wanted to see.
After Cao Yongming and the Chief left, Lin Qiang opened the laptop to find a video message from Zhang Xianhe. He apologized for his sudden departure and explained that he had been assigned by Interpol to Longcheng to assist the police in investigating a cross-border drug trafficking syndicate that had extended its reach into the country.
He thanked Lin Qiang for taking care of Coco and expressed uncertainty about when they would meet again, hoping it would be in person so he could tell her something special. Lin Qiang felt a weight lift from her heart, relieved that Zhang Xianhe was safe, and looked forward to the day they would reunite. In the meantime, Lin Qiang, as a narcotics police officer, continued her fight against criminals. She then contacted Ad, ready for a new task.
