Li Yingliang found evidence that Mu Lihua had harmed the soldiers. He rushed to report it to Chi Shanying. Now the outside world is in an uproar, with everyone saying that Mu Lihua is a man-eating monster. But Chi Shanying paid it no mind. Li Yingliang's true grudge was still against Shen Zhiheng.
His plan was to arrest Shen Zhiheng, make him sign a confession, gain Chi Shanying’s trust to make a comeback, then kill Situ Weilian and marry Jin Jingxue. Chi Shanying had his own plan too. Once Li Yingliang arrested Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian, Chi Shanying planned to blow up the mine where they were imprisoned, using Shen Zhiheng as bait to lure Mu Lihua and take the opportunity to kill her.
Then he would announce that Shen Zhiheng colluded with Mu Lihua to bring chaos to Haidong, thus making himself a national hero and completing his grand plan. Situ Weilian told Shen Zhiheng that he and Li Yingliang had already agreed on the action plan to start tomorrow. Shen Zhiheng's goal was also to kill Mu Lihua to eliminate future threats, so he and Mi Lan could leave safely.
Mi Lan didn’t believe in Li Yingliang’s plan and didn’t want Shen Zhiheng to do such a thing. But Shen Zhiheng said he had to take responsibility for his younger brother, Situ Weilian. Anyway, when the ship departs, he would definitely return. All Mi Lan needed to do was wait for him to come back. Mu Lihua insisted on changing fate. If she couldn’t, then she would make Shen Zhiheng die with her.
At the Mi residence, Mi Lan gloomily watched Shen Zhiheng leave, filled with resentment. Shen Zhiheng went alone to meet Situ Weilian. Though he thought the plan was foolish, he still went—because Situ Weilian was his brother after all. Li Yingliang quickly arrived with his men; Situ Weilian had already rehearsed the act with him.
When Li Yingliang saw Shen Zhiheng, he approached with mixed emotions, but Shen Zhiheng suddenly vomited, which enraged Li Yingliang, who believed he was being mocked. Mi Lan sneaked out of the Shen residence. Shen Zhiheng and Situ Weilian were taken to the mine and imprisoned by Li Yingliang. Li Yingliang said he didn’t want to be enemies with Shen Zhiheng and hoped he could understand; he would do everything to help protect Shen Zhiheng.
Shen Zhiheng ignored him and said only to wait and see his actions. Li Yingliang, like a trapped beast, had ensnared himself. Mi Lan rented a car to search for Shen Zhiheng, but after circling around several times, she still found no trace. Li Yingliang humbly begged Shen Zhiheng to sign the confession and open letter. Shen Zhiheng eventually signed. Li Yingliang brought the confession to Chi Shanying, but Chi said it wouldn’t prove his innocence.
Anxiously, Li Yingliang begged him to release Shengzi. While Li Yingliang and Shengzi were eating noodles by the roadside, Mi Lan passed by and overheard them discussing Shen Zhiheng. Li Yingliang hoped Shengzi could help eliminate Situ Weilian and prevent him from escaping alive. Mi Lan returned to the Shen residence and discovered that Zhang Youwen had posted a missing person notice, offering 100,000 yuan to find her. This made Mi Lan even more frustrated.
She packed up and set off alone to rescue Shen Zhiheng. The next day, Zhang Yousheng found her missing and panicked. Chi Shanying asked Mu Lihua why his soldiers had been killed. Mu Lihua was indifferent and even demanded two more companies of soldiers. Chi Shanying decided to act against her as planned but found his gun had no bullets and his subordinates had betrayed him. Chi Shanying was killed by his own men. Mi Lan suddenly appeared before Li Yingliang and demanded to know Shen Zhiheng’s whereabouts.
