Go Into Your Heart Episode 14 Recap
> Go Into Your Heart Recap
Xiao Yan tried to reassure Cheng Liao that Sheng Jingchu would surely win the decisive match against Zhao Yanxun, reminding her that he was a legend in the Go world and would definitely make a comeback. Cheng Liao, despite appearing anxious, firmly declared her confidence in Sheng Jingchu, insisting that he was a Legend and would not lose. However, Xiao Yan observed that Cheng Liao still seemed unsettled. The final match between Sheng Jingchu and Zhao Yanxun officially began.
Both players seemed confident as they started. During the game setup, Zhao Yanxun provocatively asked Sheng Jingchu if he would like to compete with himself, challenging Sheng Jingchu to beat himself, even if he played "mirror go," which implied Sheng Jingchu might not be able to win against Zhao Yanxun's mirroring strategy. Zhao Yanxun then initiated a "mirror go" strategy, where he replicated Sheng Jingchu's moves.
Cao Xihe criticized Zhao Yanxun's strategy, pointing out that in the previous two rounds, the white player had won. He explained that Zhao Yanxun had anticipated Sheng Jingchu's habit of choosing black stones first, thus allowing Zhao Yanxun to play white and employ "mirror go," a tactic Cao Xihe deemed shameless. Lan, however, defended Zhao Yanxun, stating that mirroring an opponent's moves did not violate the rules of Go and her "Brother Zhao Yanxun" was simply brilliant for using it.
A commentator further explained that mirror go involves one player symmetrically replicating the other's moves, and it's typically used by the white player to gain an advantage due to the komi advantage rule. Cheng Liao internally urged Sheng Jingchu to find a way to break the mirroring, noting he seemed listless. The game progressed, with Zhao Yanxun's white stones dominating and forcing Sheng Jingchu to use more time to devise a counter-strategy.
Lan continued to praise Zhao Yanxun for cleverly avoiding Sheng Jingchu's "ladder" trap. Cao Xihe, frustrated by Lan's support for the opponent, silently called her a "traitor." The commentators agreed that Sheng Jingchu's situation was not optimistic. Indeed, Sheng Jingchu's black stones lost significant territory on the board to Zhao Yanxun.
Despite a momentary hope from a commentator that a certain move could turn the tide, most onlookers grew concerned, believing it would be extremely difficult for the black stones to recover. A commentator noted that from the start, Sheng Jingchu and Zhao Yanxun were locked in fierce combat, with black struggling and white attacking strongly.
An unnamed person (likely one of the students) pointed out that the black corner was in a very bad position, suggesting that if Zhao Yanxun invaded it, Sheng Jingchu would lose. Another commentator agreed that Zhao Yanxun had a high chance of winning, but Cheng Liao, undeterred, firmly believed Sheng Jingchu, as a Legend, would not lose and urged everyone to just watch.
As expected, Sheng Jingchu executed a brilliant strategy, luring Zhao Yanxun deeper into a trap and swiftly turning the tide of the match. The announcer declared Sheng Jingchu as the winner. Cheng Liao was overjoyed, repeatedly exclaiming that he won, like a child. Lan, on the other hand, was on the verge of tears, lamenting Zhao Yanxun's loss, prompting Cao Xihe to tease her.
A commentator noted that Sheng Jingchu had won by a narrow margin, by three-quarters of a stone, highlighting the intense struggle against Zhao Yanxun's two "dragons" and the impressive late-game comeback. Zhao Yanxun gracefully accepted his defeat, telling Sheng Jingchu that he found playing Go with him an enjoyable experience and wished to play more. After the award ceremony, Zhao Yanxun approached Sheng Jingchu, asking about his plans for the night.
Zhao Yanxun expressed his gratitude for learning so much from Sheng Jingchu and for being hosted the previous night, insisting on cooking a delicious Korean meal to thank him. Sheng Jingchu, however, immediately refused the gesture, telling Zhao Yanxun to stop. At that moment, Jiang Yuda also appeared, enthusiastically begging Sheng Jingchu to accept him as an apprentice, praising him as a legend. Zhao Yanxun intervened, stating he already had an appointment with Sheng Jingchu.
Sheng Jingchu then asked Zhao Yanxun to "deal with" Jiang Yuda. Zhao Yanxun agreed, but only if Sheng Jingchu would have dinner with him. Sheng Jingchu told him to "deal with him first." True to his word, Zhao Yanxun quickly picked up Jiang Yuda, carried him away from Sheng Jingchu, placed him aside, and then rushed back to Sheng Jingchu's car. The two drove off, leaving Jiang Yuda sitting on the ground, weeping uncontrollably as he watched them disappear.
Later, Zhao Yanxun prepared Korean cuisine for Sheng Jingchu, proudly presenting what he claimed was authentic Korean bibimbap. However, he revealed that he had used flowers from Sheng Jingchu's greenhouse, which Cheng Liao had helped plant, as ingredients, believing it to be a sophisticated touch and a gesture of "presenting Buddha with borrowed flowers." Sheng Jingchu became furious, asserting that Zhao Yanxun had "borrowed the wrong flowers."
Without hesitation, he grabbed Zhao Yanxun's suitcase and threw both Zhao Yanxun and his belongings out of the house. Zhao Yanxun was stunned by Sheng Jingchu's sudden outburst and drastic action, lamenting that he was now homeless. Cheng Liao received a phone call from her director, Ms. Liu. Cheng Liao tried to explain her professional intentions to interview Sheng Jingchu after the tournament, but Ms. Liu interrupted, praising Cheng Liao's performance during the match.
Ms. Liu declared that Cheng Liao didn't need to film Sheng Jingchu because the footage of her hugging him was already news itself; Cheng Liao "was" the news. Ms. Liu encouraged her to continue, promising a reward. Cheng Liao felt deeply frustrated and annoyed, complaining that the station constantly sensationalized her relationship with Sheng Jingchu, treating her as a tool to generate buzz without considering her feelings.
Kato Zhengzhi, heavily intoxicated, sought out Sheng Jingchu, desiring to understand his Go strategy. Cheng Liao arrived at Sheng Jingchu's house around the same time and found Kato Zhengzhi asking Sheng Jingchu for more alcohol, explaining that he needed to be less sober to discuss a very important matter. Sheng Jingchu then instructed Cheng Liao to inspect the flowers in his greenhouse, revealing that Zhao Yanxun had eaten many of them as vegetables.
Sheng Jingchu dramatically claimed that plants have emotions and would die from sadness if their companions were picked, citing something he read online. Cheng Liao, finding Sheng Jingchu's explanation adorable, confirmed that the flowers were mostly fine and could be restored, but she felt sympathetic towards Zhao Yanxun, who was now alone and unfamiliar with the area, wondering where he would stay. Sheng Jingchu had mentioned "Jiuzhou" as a possible place for Zhao Yanxun to go.
Indeed, Zhao Yanxun unexpectedly arrived at the Jiuzhou Dojo, interrupting a discussion between Lan and Cao Xihe about the recent match. Zhao Yanxun explained that he was still sad about his loss to Sheng Jingchu and wished to learn from Jiuzhou Dojo's renowned reputation. He then subtly hinted at needing a place to stay. Lan was delighted, enthusiastically welcoming him and declaring that the eldest senior brother, Xie Chang'an, could make the decision in their master's absence.
Cao Xihe, however, was annoyed, suspecting Zhao Yanxun was there to freeload and feeling it was like "leading a wolf into the house." Despite Cao Xihe's objections, Xie Chang'an magnanimously welcomed Zhao Yanxun, emphasizing Chinese hospitality and the spirit of Go players getting along. Lan then eagerly offered to help Zhao Yanxun with his luggage and show him to a guest room, further irritating Cao Xihe.
Kato Zhengzhi, still heavily drunk, tearfully confronted Sheng Jingchu, demanding he take responsibility for his lifelong happiness. He confessed his plan to propose to his beloved girlfriend, Xiao Kong, from Binhai, at the award ceremony using the champion's trophy, but Sheng Jingchu's victory had ruined his "Plan A."
Kato Zhengzhi desperately pleaded for Sheng Jingchu and Cheng Liao's help, stating he had no "Plan B" and was not good at creating romantic scenes, warning that he would do anything for his happiness. Cheng Liao, observing Kato Zhengzhi's determination, advised Sheng Jingchu not to be so unyielding and suggested they help him brainstorm a marriage proposal plan.
Sheng Jingchu, annoyed that his own plans were constantly interrupted, first by Zhao Yanxun and now by Kato Zhengzhi, reluctantly agreed to help. The next day, Sheng Jingchu gathered his fellow disciples to help brainstorm ideas for Kato Zhengzhi's successful marriage proposal. Kato Zhengzhi pleaded with them not to let him lose face with Xiao Kong.
However, the discussions quickly devolved into bickering, with everyone acknowledging their lack of experience (except for Sheng Jingchu and Cheng Liao, whom they considered a couple) and offering impractical, conflicting suggestions ranging from romantic to practical, retro, or international themes. Xie Chang'an, emphasizing Jiuzhou's principle of helping others, encouraged them to work together.
Seeing the unproductive arguments, he decided to take Kato Zhengzhi on a tour of the Jiuzhou Dojo, leaving the rest to continue their serious discussion about how to achieve Kato Zhengzhi's dream proposal. Soon, the group settled on a plan: Kato Zhengzhi should express his feelings sincerely, as that was what girls truly desired in a proposal.
With everyone as witnesses, Kato Zhengzhi, holding a bouquet of flowers, declared his love to Xiao Kong, asking her to marry him and promising to take care of her forever. Sheng Jingchu even sang a beautiful song, which others praised, commenting that he was the "golden voice of the Go world" and could become a busker if he quit Go, further enhancing the romantic atmosphere. Moved by Kato Zhengzhi's heartfelt sincerity and supported by the enthusiastic shouts of "Marry him!"
, Xiao Kong accepted his proposal. After Kato Zhengzhi's successful proposal, Lan eagerly approached Zhao Yanxun, attempting to get closer to him by asking if he had any favorite games and suggesting they play "The New Swordsman Mobile" together. Zhao Yanxun admitted he wasn't good at it but found the idea more interesting with her.
As they excitedly planned to team up, Cao Xihe abruptly sat down between them, effectively interrupting their conversation and separating them by offering Zhao Yanxun a drink, which Zhao Yanxun declined, saying he had quit drinking. Cao Xihe then drank it himself. Annoyed, Lan got up and walked away. Witnessing Kato Zhengzhi's successful proposal, Sheng Jingchu was very envious. He then reminded Cheng Liao of his promise to take her for a ride.
To Cheng Liao's surprise, this "ride" was on a public bus. Sheng Jingchu explained that he first saw her on that very bus route. Despite not being a romantic car ride, Cheng Liao was happy because Sheng Jingchu always brought her joy. As they rode, Sheng Jingchu confessed his feelings to Cheng Liao. He told her that every moment with her felt too short and he wished to be with her always, to get closer and understand her more.
He admitted that he was a boring and imperfect man but had a lifetime to improve himself, promising to try his best even if he might not become her ideal man. He then declared that he had never liked anyone before, but now he clearly knew that he liked her.
