Go Into Your Heart Episode 12 Recap
> Go Into Your Heart Recap
Cheng Liao and Sheng Jingchu were discussing Go, with Sheng Jingchu providing some guidance. Cheng Liao, noticing a beautiful orange sunset, likened it to an orange soda cake she used to make at a cafe. She playfully asked Sheng Jingchu if he had overcome his "cake phobia," to which he replied that he had, echoing her previous advice about refreshing memories and not letting good food go to waste. They agreed to share a cake after the tournament.
Cheng Liao expressed surprise that a Go "God" like Sheng Jingchu would teach an amateur like her, and he responded that whether he liked teaching "depended on the person." Their conversation was interrupted when Jiang Yuda jumped over a wall into the premises. He explained that he had called Sheng Jingchu multiple times, but after being denied entry by security, he resorted to scaling the wall, declaring his intent to become Sheng Jingchu's disciple.
Cheng Liao immediately recognized Jiang Yuda as the person who had caused her sister, Cheng Yi, to become a news headline. Sheng Jingchu also recognized him as the one who had previously challenged Jiuzhou Dojo and been "educated" by Lan. Jiang Yuda passionately reiterated his desire for Sheng Jingchu to be his master, believing he was the only one who could impart the highest Go skills.
However, Sheng Jingchu curtly stated he did not like being a teacher and ordered Jiang Yuda to leave. When Jiang Yuda refused, Sheng Jingchu physically escorted him out. Cheng Liao then teased Sheng Jingchu about his changing stance on teaching, to which he simply reiterated, "It depends." Cheng Liao then left, wishing him well for the tournament and reminding him of their cake plan.
The "Sihai Jiuzhou Cup Four Countries Invitational Go Tournament" officially commenced, with Jiuzhou Dojo at its core. Esteemed Go Sage Nie Wei Ping was present. The announcer introduced the international players: Ye Chen from Singapore, Kato Kiyomasa from Japan, and Jo Yeon Hoon from Korea. The Jiuzhou team included Ding Lan, Sheng Jingchu, Cao Xihe, Yao Ke, and Xie Chang An.
At the press conference, Master Nie expressed his support for any event that promotes the development of Go, praising Jiuzhou's initiative in hosting such a prestigious event with top young international players. He hoped for more such tournaments, emphasizing the importance of nurturing the younger generation in Go. When asked for a prediction, Master Nie expressed a personal hope that Jiuzhou, especially with "Go world's popularity figurehead" Sheng Jingchu, would perform well. Reporters then directed questions to the players.
One journalist asked Sheng Jingchu and Cao Xihe about Kato Kiyomasa viewing them as his greatest challengers. Cao Xihe, acknowledging Kato's skill, stated his primary target was Jo Yeon Hoon, adding provocatively that Jo had never defeated him, which made the match less challenging for him. He advised Jo to "be well-prepared."
Another reporter questioned Sheng Jingchu about his upcoming "focus match" against his junior, Yao Ke, and whether his girlfriend, Cheng Liao's, presence as a reporter would affect his performance. Sheng Jingchu downplayed the match with Yao Ke as merely a "friendly exchange between fellow disciples" since Yao Ke had only recently joined Jiuzhou. As for Cheng Liao, reporters quickly identified her in the audience, turning their cameras towards her.
Sheng Jingchu, seeing the attention on Cheng Liao, deflected the questions, telling the media to simply "expect the results." In the first round, Xie Chang An was defeated by the Japanese player, while Cao Xihe successfully advanced against a domestic player. Sheng Jingchu quickly won his match against his junior, Yao Ke. Despite his defeat, Yao Ke tried to maintain an indifferent facade, but inwardly, he was greatly displeased.
Later, Sheng Jingchu met Cheng Liao, asking her to meet him at the semifinals, a moment extensively photographed by reporters. Yao Ke was in a foul mood after his loss, snapping at his younger brother, Xiao Pu, who tried to offer him food and comfort. Xiao Pu reminded Yao Ke that by being in Jiuzhou Dojo, he could better understand Sheng Jingchu and eventually find his weaknesses.
Yao Ke, however, expressed his deep frustration, stating he had waited over ten years to compete against Sheng Jingchu and was tired of waiting. As the semifinals approached, Cheng Liao arrived to cheer for Sheng Jingchu, reminding him about their cake promise. Xiao Lan also came to support Sheng Jingchu, but he suggested she cheer for Cao Xihe instead, who he felt needed her support more.
Xiao Lan dismissed the idea, asserting that Cao Xihe would inevitably lose to Jo Yeon Hoon. Xie Chang An clarified that Cao Xihe feared Jo Yeon Hoon specifically, not all Korean players. As Sheng Jingchu was about to enter the competition area, a group of fans surrounded him. Xie Chang An and Xiao Lan tried to manage the crowd, with Xiao Lan even taking a fan's phone to snap a picture of Sheng Jingchu for them.
Just before his match against Kato Kiyomasa, Sheng Jingchu realized his "Tao Te Ching," which he always brought to matches, was missing. He urgently searched for it, growing increasingly anxious as the game time approached. Unbeknownst to him, Yao Ke's younger brother, Xiao Pu, had stolen the book and thrown it into a trash can, hoping to sabotage Sheng Jingchu's game.
Xie Chang An urged Sheng Jingchu to enter the arena, but Sheng Jingchu, feeling unsettled, requested time to calm himself. Noticing Sheng Jingchu's distress, Cheng Liao, alerted by Xiao Lan about the missing book, rushed to find him. Sheng Jingchu recalled his master's words when he first received the "Tao Te Ching," which encouraged him to find inner peace through its teachings: "The highest good is like water, water benefits all things without contention. . .
if you thoroughly understand this book, your heart will be calm." After a moment of reflection, Sheng Jingchu finally appeared for his match. As reporters snapped photos, Cheng Liao stepped forward, embracing him and offering words of encouragement. She assured him that, regardless of the outcome, they would still eat cake, even humorously offering to transform into a fox if he lost. This heartfelt display was captured by many cameras, and Cheng Liao's unwavering support clearly bolstered Sheng Jingchu's confidence.
During the match, Xie Chang An and Xiao Lan provided commentary. Xie Chang An noted Kato Kiyomasa's evolved style, from "Romantic Kato" to "Mighty Kato," making him a formidable opponent. He also acknowledged the "small unexpected situation" with Sheng Jingchu earlier. As the game progressed, Sheng Jingchu's offense was seemingly broken by Kato, leaving him in a passive position. Commentators believed Sheng Jingchu was in a dangerous situation, needing a miracle or a mistake from Kato to win.
When Sheng Jingchu closed his eyes, many speculated he was on the verge of giving up, with some media even preparing a draft announcement of his loss. However, Sheng Jingchu, recalling the teachings of the "Tao Te Ching," began to play again, reforging his strategy like a warrior reforging his weapon. He made a move that commentators initially questioned, but it soon became clear that he had planned a brilliant attack, bringing a "keystone" in the center alive.
Kato Kiyomasa, realizing he had been outmaneuvered by Sheng Jingchu's feigned passivity and masterful reversal, conceded the match. Cheng Liao, witnessing Sheng Jingchu's victory, excitedly ran to be the first to embrace him in celebration.
