Youthful Glory Episode 19 Recap
> Youthful Glory Recap
Jiang Xu still followed Ming Tan's wishes and simplified the carriages, but kept one empty carriage. When Ming Tan was bidding farewell to Bai Minmin and the others, Shu Jingran couldn’t help but ask about the relationship between Yun Yi and Jiang Xu—he had never heard Jiang Xu mention this concubine before.
As Ming Tan was about to get into the carriage, Jiang Xu hurried forward to help her up, but Ming Tan got in on her own, completely ignoring him. Hai Shen’s people continued watching the General of Dingbei's residence closely. Liu Mo was convinced that Jiang Xu’s journey to Lingzhou would stir up trouble, so Su Wenchun’s intention was to ensure he never returned. Yun Yi and Shu Jingran rode on horseback in front of the carriage.
Shu Jingran asked Yun Yi many questions and felt more at ease after learning that her only responsibility at the residence was to keep Ming Tan safe, realizing she was from the Jin Yun Guard. Inside the carriage, Jiang Xu had prepared many of Ming Tan’s favorite foods, but she didn’t even bother to look at them. Ming Tan didn’t blame Jiang Xu; she just had some unresolved doubts.
Since Jiang Xu had asked, she wanted to get to the bottom of them. Ming Tan voiced her questions, and though Jiang Xu remained silent at first, he eventually spoke up and explained. Her last question was why Jiang Xu had stopped her from seeing Ming Tingyuan in prison that day. If he hadn’t, she could have seen her father one last time!
Jiang Xu lowered his head, confirmed that no one was following them after leaving the capital, and then took Ming Tan on horseback to find the answer that could resolve her inner turmoil. After leaving with Ming Tan, Jiang Xu noticed someone tailing them. The two abandoned the carriage and went to a rural courtyard, where they found Ming Tingyuan working. Upon seeing each other, father and daughter were moved to tears.
Everything that happened in the prison had been planned by Jiang Xu in advance. Even Zhang Huaiyu’s departure from the capital had been to take Ming Tingyuan away. Ming Tan finally understood that she had misunderstood Jiang Xu and had failed to realize all that he had done for her. Ming Tingyuan prepared a table full of dishes, and for the first time in many days, Ming Tan finally ate properly.
Shu Jingran and Yun Yi were roasting fish in the forest. Shu Jingran kept trying to help but ended up making things worse. Yun Yi was simple-minded, focused solely on fulfilling her master’s tasks and sincerely cared for Ming Tan. However, seeing Shu Jingran constantly asking about Ming Tan, Yun Yi thought he was coveting the princess consort and refused to let him eat any of the roasted fish. Ming Tan tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
The bedding was too hard, and without bathing before bed, she couldn’t fall asleep. Jiang Xu held her, telling her to think of him as a soft cushion from home—at least something familiar. The next morning, Jiang Xu helped Ming Tan wash her hair. The two were sweet and affectionate. Zhang Huaiyu and Yun Yi followed the signs left by the Jin Yun Guard.
Shu Jingran was convinced Zhang Huaiyu would rather die in Lingzhou than let the Su family escape responsibility, so they all hurried on to Lingzhou. Before Ming Tan and Jiang Xu set off, Ming Tingyuan found a carriage in such a remote area and reminded Jiang Xu to take good care of Ming Tan. Ming Tan chatted nonstop along the way, while Jiang Xu contemplated drawing up another agreement.
Ming Tan quickly acted playfully, saying that since they now cared for each other, what need was there for a contract? Yun Yi and Shu Jingran waited for two days without seeing Zhui Ying arrive. Instead, Yun Yi got obsessed with feeding chickens. Shu Jingran, seeing this, bought one, but ended up in a mess trying to catch it, making Yun Yi laugh heartily.
Though he wasn’t good at catching chickens, Shu Jingran had learned to roast chicken from the family chef. Seeing Yun Yi eat happily, Shu Jingran even caught a firefly and placed it in her palm, making Yun Yi smile especially sweetly. Bai Minmin was pulled along by a child who insisted on taking her to see someone. Along the way, she had no idea who it was until someone began performing a story onstage.
