Zhao Zhen and Cao Danshu are now both persuading Zhao Huirou to return, and Li Wei also comes to apologize every few days. Miao Xinhe thinks that even if the two cannot divorce, it would be good for them to separate for a year or so to cool down.
Ren Shouchong says he has a way to persuade Li Wei to voluntarily request to leave the capital, so Miao Xinhe places her hope in Ren Shouchong and admonishes him not to tell Cao Danshu about this matter. Miao Xinhe goes to Funing Palace to find Zhao Zhen, hoping he agrees to Li Wei's memorial requesting to be sent out to a provincial post. Miao Xinhe tells Zhao Zhen that Zhao Huirou becomes terrified just hearing Li Wei's name.
Last night, she even had a nightmare, dreaming that Li Wei was coming to catch her. Zhao Zhen, however, thinks Li Wei is not at fault and refuses to agree. Seeing Zhao Zhen unwilling to agree, Miao Xinhe desperately pleads with Zhao Zhen to send Li Wei out to a provincial post, begging him to give Zhao Huirou a way out.
Ren Shouchong, feeling pity for Zhao Huirou, also boldly advised from the side, saying that when he previously went to the princess's residence to pacify Li Wei, Li Wei was also very fearful. Sending Li Wei out of the capital would also be a good thing for Li Wei. Under Miao Xinhe's pleas, Zhao Zhen reluctantly agrees to send Li Wei out to a provincial post.
Miao Xinhe tells Zhao Huirou that Zhao Zhen will send Li Wei out to a provincial post, and they will be separated for at least one or two years. Zhao Huirou is somewhat happy, but she then worries about Liang Huaiji, wondering if Zhao Zhen can let Liang Huaiji return to her side. Miao Xinhe tells Zhao Huirou not to mention this matter to Zhao Zhen for now.
Zhao Huirou is immensely disappointed; if she cannot see Liang Huaiji, even if she leaves Li Wei, she will not be happy. Zhao Zhen announces the punishment for Li Wei in court, but Sima Guang directly admonishes and criticizes Zhao Huirou, saying that Li Wei has no fault. Furthermore, censors advise Zhao Zhen to punish the eunuchs in the princess's residence.
Zhao Huirou worries about Liang Huaiji and continuously explains to Zhao Zhen that Liang Huaiji is not at fault and he has never instigated discord between her and Li Wei; if there is to be punishment, she is willing to bear it. Liang Quanyi did not fulfill his duty as Dujian, so he requests a demotion from Zhao Zhen.
Before leaving the capital, Liang Quanyi finds Liang Huaiji to say goodbye to him and admonishes Liang Huaiji to conduct himself well. After Liang Quanyi leaves, Liang Huaiji cannot help but ask Zhang Maoze about Zhao Huirou's situation. Zhang Maoze does not answer; instead, he asks Liang Huaiji why he doesn't keep his distance from Zhao Huirou.
Liang Huaiji replies that Zhao Huirou views her life in the Li family as an abyss of suffering, and he has no ability to rescue Zhao Huirou; he can only act as a piece of driftwood beside Zhao Huirou, allowing her to catch her breath. Ren Shouchong failed to help Zhao Huirou; instead, he caused the censors to collectively attack Zhao Huirou.
Cao Danshu is very disappointed with Ren Shouchong, but considering it was his first offense, she only punished him with three months of confinement for self-reflection. Because the censors strongly argued for Li Wei, the imperial decree to send Li Wei out to a provincial post was not executed. After Zhao Huirou learned of this, she locked herself in her room, kept saying that Liang Huaiji was not at fault and could not be punished.
During the morning court, censors impeached Liang Huaiji one after another. Sima Guang deeply misunderstood Liang Huaiji. He believes that Liang Huaiji not wearing eunuch attire was intentionally misleading outsiders into thinking he was the consort, and that he deliberately confused Zhao Huirou and alienated Zhao Huirou and Li Wei. Cao Danshu takes Zhao Huirou to the Chuigong Hall. The two listened to Sima Guang's impeachment of Liang Huaiji from behind the hall.
Cao Danshu asks if what Sima Guang said was true. Zhao Huirou has to admit that she forced Liang Huaiji to wear scholar's attire when accompanying her outside. Cao Danshu blames Zhao Huirou for acting recklessly. Zhao Zhen has now personally intervened to shield Liang Huaiji from the censors' impeachment, but Zhao Huirou had already handed the sharpest sword to others early on. Zhao Huirou is filled with regret and is determined to save Liang Huaiji.
Cao Danshu sighs, saying that now the only one who can save Liang Huaiji is Zhao Huirou. Zhao Huirou goes to Funing Palace to find Zhao Zhen to plead for Liang Huaiji, and says that as long as Zhao Zhen does not harm Liang Huaiji, she is willing to return to the princess's residence. No matter what Li Wei's mother and son say, she will no longer argue with them.
Zhao Zhen agrees to Zhao Huirou's request and asks Liang Huaiji to escort Zhao Huirou back to the princess's residence tomorrow. However, to give an explanation to the Censorate, Zhao Zhen has to punish Liang Huaiji, sending Liang Huaiji out of the capital. Zhao Zhen summons Liang Huaiji and asks him if he has any wishes before leaving the capital.
