> Princess Silver Recap

Following his release from prison, Wu You explained to Rong Le that his fallout with the Crown Prince was a necessary measure to save her, adding that he was indifferent to how others might perceive his actions. He sincerely enjoyed their chess games, viewing her as a rare, well-matched opponent. Rong Le remained uncertain if his motives were purely for the sake of their games. Upon reaching the Moon Embrace Teahouse, she thanked him and they parted ways.

Inside, Long Yue expressed profound self-reproach, blaming herself for not protecting Rong Le diligently enough, which led to her public disgrace and imprisonment. Rong Le comforted her, stating they were in Northern Lin to support each other and fulfill their mission. She assured Long Yue she wouldn't allow her to make unnecessary sacrifices. Long Yue reported that Chen Yu was still unconscious from her severe injuries, though Prince Chen had sent a physician.

She also confirmed the teahouse was no longer a secure rendezvous point. While she had arranged a new way to contact the "Kite" and Western Qi, the original secret path was compromised, and she urged Rong Le to stay at the manor while she scouted a new route. Late that night, Rong Qi wrote a letter to Rong Le in his study.

His frail health betrayed him as a violent coughing fit wracked his body, causing him to spit up blood. The Empress Dowager then entered, showing no concern for his condition and instead pressing him for progress on acquiring the "Book of Mountains and Rivers." Outwardly stoic, Rong Qi concealed his illness in his letter, instructing Rong Le to prioritize her safety above all else in her search for the book.

Rong Le tasked Xiao Sha with investigating the man who had rescued her at the Eastern Suburb Inn, but he found no leads. The inn was busy, and the man had only stayed one night without leaving a name. Shifting topics, Rong Le asked Xiao Sha if he had touched the lock on a box in her room containing her secret correspondence with the emperor.

He denied it, noting that besides Rong Le, only he, Ling Yue, and Lian Xin entered the room. Trusting him, Rong Le revealed her suspicions about her two maids. Their ability to so neatly handle an unconscious assassin—tying him up and hiding him in the woodshed—seemed beyond the skills of ordinary palace maids. She also disclosed that she had set a small trap on the box's lock, which had been disturbed.

Xiao Sha admitted he had also noticed suspicious behavior from them. Later, Ling Yue examined Princess Zhao Yun and discovered her blood flow was blocked from a pressure point attack, not simply from the drugged mist as previously thought. Rong Le instructed her to keep this finding secret. The Empress, pleased, informed Sun Ya Li that Wu You had agreed to a flower-viewing excursion with her and Prince Chen (Wu Yu).

She encouraged Ya Li to invite Rong Le, hoping to foster a match between Rong Le and Prince Chen. A marriage alliance between them would strengthen the bond between the two princes and please the Emperor. Ya Li happily agreed. Wu You visited the Moon Embrace Teahouse three times, only to miss Man Yao (Rong Le's alias) on each occasion. Long Yue maintained that she was away on business.

Wu Yu found it odd that a businesswoman would avoid a wealthy patron like Wu You, but Wu You defended her, insisting her mastery of the tea ceremony revealed a spirit indifferent to worldly wealth. Their discussion was interrupted by the Emperor's arrival. After dismissing Wu Yu, the Emperor addressed Wu You alone, suggesting that if he was set against marrying the Western Qi princess, he should consider Sun Ya Li.

Wu You retorted that the Emperor was more interested in the Sun family's power in the southern regions than in a suitable match. The Emperor, annoyed, brought up rumors of Wu You's involvement with a businesswoman, for whom he had supposedly wrecked a prison. Wu You denied that the woman had any influence on his decisions, reminding the Emperor that he knew the true reason for his refusal to marry.

The Emperor then shifted to state affairs, declaring his intent to ally with Western Qi to attack the state of Wei and avenge their recent military defeat. Wu You argued against another war, pointing out that Northern Lin was weakened and its people were suffering under heavy war taxes. He advocated for a period of recuperation.

The argument grew heated, with the Emperor accusing Wu You of clinging to the "fallacy" of his disgraced teacher, Qin Yong, and his "People-Based Transformation" theory—a man he blamed for the death of Wu You's mother. Wu You fiercely defended his teacher's legacy and forbade the Emperor from speaking of his mother.

Seeing his son's resolve, the Emperor proposed a deal: if Wu You could find the legendary lost "Book of Mountains and Rivers" within six months, he would be granted freedom in marriage and allowed to implement his policies. If he failed, he would have to marry the Western Qi princess and aid the Emperor in conquering Wei. One day, Sun Ya Li visited Princess Manor while Princess Zhao Yun was chatting with Rong Le.

Ya Li invited Rong Le to join their suburban outing. Zhao Yun praised her betrothed, Wu You, as a true hero, though Rong Le confessed she found his brother, Wu Yu, more energetic and intriguing. As they talked, Ling Yue delivered tea along with a coded message: an important guest was at the teahouse, where tea, chess, flower viewing, and sword dancing awaited.

Understanding the urgency, Rong Le feigned illness to dismiss her guests and prepared to leave for the teahouse. Rong Le rushed to the teahouse to find Prince Chen (Wu Yu) waiting for her, not Wu You. Wu Yu had brought wine and, under the pretense of conversation, used its potent fumes to try and lower her inhibitions and uncover her origins. Rong Le resisted his questioning but grew increasingly dizzy from the fumes.

Just as the fire warming the wine went out, Wu You arrived. Wu Yu admitted he had stolen the "Shilixiang" wine from Wu You's manor to test her. Seeing her unsteady state, Wu You said nothing and gently carried her away. Rong Le awoke on a small boat with Wu You. He told her he had saved her from prison simply because he knew she was innocent.

When she insisted on leaving, he offered to pay her the teahouse's daily earnings, readily agreeing to her exorbitant price of one hundred taels. He grew frustrated that she refused to enjoy the tranquil scenery with him, accusing her of pretending to be a "sordid merchant." He finally ordered the helmsman to shore, but the man appeared to be hard of hearing. Wu You then promised to take her back if she would just enjoy the moment with him.

Meanwhile, taking advantage of the princess's absence, Ling Yue and Lian Xin snuck out of the manor. Xiao Sha, who was watching them, followed, but the women soon parted ways, forcing him to choose one to trail. When Wu You and Rong Le finally disembarked, they encountered a grim scene: soldiers were recovering bodies from a shipwreck. Rong Le was shaken by the sight of a deceased child. Wu You remarked that such incidents were rarely accidents.

When Rong Le questioned if there was any justice for the victims, he replied that in a chaotic world, there was none. She lamented the fate of the common people, fearing she too could become an innocent sacrifice one day. As they mounted their horses to leave, Wu You leaned close and whispered a promise: "With me here, who dares to sacrifice you?"
