> Princess Silver Recap

The Emperor reprimanded General Fu Chou for his poor handling of the southern border rebellion, noting that Prince Li (Wuyou) had to resolve the matter for him. He stressed the importance of the alliance with Chen, warning Fu Chou not to fail again. Just then, Prince Wuyu, Prince Li's younger brother, burst in, excitedly greeting his father. The Emperor gently chided Wuyu for his childish behavior, contrasting him with the more sensible Wuyou.

Wuyu readily praised his brother, declaring him superior to "bootlickers" and "pretentious hypocrites." As Fu Chou tried to excuse himself from the family reunion, Wuyu enthusiastically suggested a martial arts contest between Fu Chou and Wuyou, with the Emperor as judge. Fu Chou politely declined, and the Emperor dismissed him. Meanwhile, Princess Rong Le and Princess Zhao Yun were fishing at Qingliang Lake. Zhao Yun light-heartedly teased Rong Le, revealing that Wuyou and Wuyu were returning from the south.

Zhao Yun believed Wuyou still held deep affection for Rong Le, pointing to the secret delivery of candied dates as proof. As they chatted, Prince Zhenbei of Chen and his servant were fishing nearby. Suddenly, black-clad assailants emerged from the water, forcing Rong Le, Zhao Yun, Ling Yue, Prince Zhenbei, and his servant to flee. Ling Yue twisted her ankle during their escape. While hiding, they were cornered.

As one assassin lunged at Rong Le, another black-clad figure—her secret guard, Xiao Sha—struck down his companion's sword, saving Rong Le and leaving her perplexed. Just then, Xiang Ying arrived with soldiers, ordering a volley of arrows that decimated the attackers. However, one remaining assassin made a final desperate lunge toward Prince Zhenbei. Rong Le bravely shielded Prince Zhenbei with her own body.

In that critical moment, Wuyou appeared, grasping the blade with his bare hand just before it could strike Rong Le. Wuyou then swiftly pulled a stunned Rong Le away, leaving the others behind. Elsewhere, the Crown Prince and Lady Xiang (Hen Xiang) were enjoying a leisurely outing. The Crown Prince mused about having a painter capture him in a heroic pose.

Fu Chou, having received news of the attack, rushed over but was intercepted by the Crown Prince, who invited him to fish. Fu Chou subtly tried to persuade the Crown Prince to return to the palace. Xiang Ying then rode up, relaying a fabricated report of a burglary that required Fu Chou's immediate attention. The Crown Prince dismissed it as trivial and insisted Fu Chou stay. Understanding Fu Chou's glance, Lady Xiang feigned sudden illness, hinting she might be pregnant.

This prompted the Crown Prince to hastily command their return to the palace, finally allowing Fu Chou to depart. Wuyou and Rong Le drifted on the lake in a boat, a profound silence between them. Wuyou suggested they cast aside their past identities and treat each other as strangers. Noticing the deep gash on Wuyou's palm, Rong Le's heart softened, and she carefully bandaged his wound. Wuyou then played a xun, its mournful melody stirring unspoken memories.

Soon after, Fu Chou rode up to the shore. Rong Le questioned Wuyou about the assassin's true target, and Wuyou confirmed it was Prince Zhenbei of Chen. Rong Le instantly recalled Fu Chou's suggestion for her to visit the lake and realized the ambush had been his scheme. Upon reaching the shore, she was visibly cold towards Fu Chou and immediately returned to her residence. After Rong Le's departure, Wuyou confronted Fu Chou, demanding an explanation.

Wuyou informed him that the Emperor had put him in full charge of the alliance with Chen, and Fu Chou was now to report to him. He highlighted that Fu Chou's men were nearby during the ambush but failed to intervene as Prince Zhenbei and Rong Le were in danger. Fu Chou acknowledged his failure and thanked Wuyou for saving Rong Le. Wuyou pressed on, accusing him of using Rong Le and wearing a "mask of lies."

Fu Chou countered that the incident was an "accident" and that he and Rong Le had lived harmoniously for six months. He then turned Wuyou's past against him, accusing Wuyou of hurting, lying to, and publicly humiliating Rong Le. As Fu Chou departed to tend to his wife, Wuyou warned him not to make the same mistakes he had and live to regret them. At the palace, the Emperor was vexed by the Crown Prince's politicking over the marriage alliance.

He then discussed a fine tea with a lady named Yali, noting her description was similar to Princess Rong Le's. He probed Yali about her relationship with Wuyou, hinting that he believed she was the only one who could win Wuyou's heart and eventually become Empress. Wuyu then entered, offering his father an orange and subtly trying to bring up his desire to marry. Just then, Wuyou arrived. Seeing his son's injured hand, the Emperor called for a physician.

Wuyou recounted the ambush, mentioning Princess Zhao Yun had sustained a minor scrape. Upon hearing this, Wuyu became frantic and rushed off to check on Zhao Yun. He found her recounting the encounter with excitement. Touched by his deep concern, Zhao Yun was smitten, and Wuyu declared he would ask for her hand in marriage once the alliance was settled. Later, Wuyou informed the Emperor of his suspicion that Fu Chou deliberately held his men back during the attack.

The Emperor confessed he also suspected Fu Chou of colluding with Western Qi but couldn't remove him without concrete evidence, as it would destabilize the army at a crucial time. Wuyou argued against the marriage alliance, citing his own mother's painful life. The Emperor dismissed the comparison and affirmed his decision to ally with Chen and lead a campaign against Wei, seeing it as his final ambition.

Wuyou warned that a dark force, likely led by the Sun family, was rising in the south, and a campaign against Wei would leave the capital vulnerable. The Emperor acknowledged the dangers but, citing his declining health, stated his final wish was to leave Wuyou a peaceful world. In the aftermath, Ling Yue confronted Sir Xiao (Xiao Sha), demanding to know why he failed to appear during the attack.

In her chambers, Rong Le refused the medicine Fu Chou offered and demanded an explanation. She laid out his entire scheme: knowing her brother intended to assassinate Prince Zhenbei, Fu Chou used her as bait, aware that her guard, Xiao Sha, would hesitate to strike in her presence, thereby ensuring the Prince's safety. She bitterly stated that his meticulous plan never considered her life. Fu Chou denied intending her harm, shocked that she would risk her life for a stranger.

Rong Le retorted that the "stranger" tried to save her, while her own husband used her as a pawn. Fu Chou swore he would give his life for her, but Rong Le lamented that her life was never her own, always a tool for others. Losing his composure, Fu Chou questioned why she could forgive Wuyou, who had hurt and humiliated her, but not him.

Rong Le admitted that while she didn't love him, she had tried to see him as family. Fu Chou cried out that family wasn't enough; he wanted her heart and her love, just as she had loved Wuyou. Heartbroken, Rong Le asked why he kept lying to himself and making things difficult, knowing their marriage was built on deceit.
