After escaping the city, Rong Le decided the group should separate to avoid being captured. She encouraged her companions to pursue their own goals and futures. Her friends shared their dreams: Miss Chen Yu planned to travel to Chen to study its vigorous music, while Xiao Wei intended to visit Western Qi, a land she had served for years but never truly seen. Others expressed a wish to see the world beyond their small corner of it.
Rong Le then invited Long Yue to travel the world with her, an offer Long Yue happily accepted. They all bade each other farewell, promising to meet again one day. Meanwhile, Wu You, in pursuit of Rong Le, split from Wu Yu, who led a separate group. Just as Wu You's men were closing in, they were intercepted by assassins from the Creed of Vengeance.
Rong Le and Long Yue managed to evade Wu You's forces, only to be confronted by Rong Qi. Rong Le expressed her bitter disappointment, stating that Rong Qi had lied to her repeatedly and that trusting him had been a mistake. Rong Qi coldly declared he would not let her escape his grasp until he obtained "The Book of Mountains and Rivers."
Rong Le questioned his relentless pursuit of the book, accusing him of conspiring with Fu Chou under the guise of saving Western Qi, thereby manipulating both sides and risking chaos for his own people. Rong Qi dismissed her concerns, insisting she only needed to hand over the book and return to marry Fu Chou as planned.
Long Yue attempted to create a diversion for Rong Le to flee, but Rong Qi warned that a Western Qi spy who betrayed their country would face severe consequences, causing Rong Le to hesitate. To free Rong Le from this dilemma, Long Yue declared that "honor and loyalty can never coexist" and tragically took her own life. Rong Le watched in horror and grief as Long Yue collapsed into her arms.
Distraught, Rong Le told Rong Qi that she did not possess the book and would never cooperate with his schemes, even if it meant death. In response, Rong Qi had his guards bring in a captive Ling Yue and her other attendants. He coldly threatened that if Rong Le continued to resist, those she cared for would die for her sake. Seeing the demonic side of her brother, Rong Le finally yielded to protect her friends.
Before being led away, she gently removed her cloak and laid it over Long Yue’s body. Later, after breaking free from the Creed of Vengeance, Wu You arrived in the forest. He was alarmed to see two bodies on the ground but was greatly relieved to discover Rong Le was not one of them when he recognized her cloak draped over Long Yue.
On the day of the grand wedding, Rong Le, adorned in a stunning phoenix coronet and bridal robes, looked beautiful but joyless. Fu Chou approached, his eyes full of happiness, and took her hand, vowing to never let go after this day. Rong Le offered no response, coldly pulling her hand away before entering the carriage for the wedding procession. Meanwhile, Wu You returned with Rong Le's cloak.
Wu Yu, seeing it, remorsefully explained that he had spotted Man Yao on the street but was intercepted by Princess Rong Le's bodyguard, Xiao Sha, which allowed Man Yao to escape. The realization that Xiao Sha was with Man Yao triggered a cascade of doubts in Wu You's mind, and a daring suspicion began to solidify.
At that exact moment, Princess Zhao Yun, having just seen the bride's true face, rushed in to tell Wu You that Princess Rong Le was, in fact, Man Yao. In the wedding hall, guests congratulated Fu Chou, who abandoned his usual reserved demeanor and happily thanked them. The Crown Prince also arrived with his new favorite, Lady Xiang. As the auspicious moment arrived, Rong Le was escorted to Fu Chou's side.
They performed their bows to Heaven and Earth and to their ancestors. Just as they were about to complete the final bow to each other, Wu You dramatically intervened, halting the ceremony. Fu Chou urged him to wait, but Wu You strode directly toward Rong Le, intending to lift her veil. Before a physical confrontation could erupt, Rong Le stopped Fu Chou, stating that some matters could only be resolved by her.
When Rong Le lifted her own veil, Wu You was struck with a complex mix of emotions upon seeing her familiar face. The nearby Crown Prince was also astonished, recognizing her as Man Yao, the mistress of the teahouse. In disbelief, Wu You demanded if she had forgotten what had transpired between them, publicly declaring that she was his woman and could marry no one else. Humiliated by his outburst, Rong Le slapped him across the face.
Her heart broke, realizing that if he had any consideration for her, he would not have placed her in such a devastating position. She had thought she had merely loved the wrong person, but now she understood she had never truly known him. With everything exposed, Rong Le turned to Fu Chou, stating she would take sole responsibility for the failed alliance and that he should simply write a divorce decree.
She removed her phoenix coronet, ready to end the marriage. Unexpectedly, Fu Chou declared that since they had already performed their bows, they were husband and wife, and he was willing to bear all future burdens with her. Unable to tolerate the scene, Wu You seized Rong Le and pulled her out of the hall.
The Crown Prince reported the incident to the Emperor, condemning Wu You’s actions and revealing that he had taken Rong Le to Concubine Yun's royal tomb. Inside, Wu You activated a sealing mechanism, trapping them both. He then forcefully pulled off Rong Le's wedding gown, demanding to know why she had hidden her identity. He accused her of tricking him into falling for her while she, a princess disguised as a teahouse owner, was secretly planning to marry Fu Chou.
Rong Le countered that he had also deceived her by hiding his own princely status. The argument escalated, with Wu You accusing her of plotting against him to obtain "The Book of Mountains and Rivers" and claiming she never truly loved him. Rong Le retorted, questioning his own love and accusing him of keeping her in the dark.
She challenged his claim to the book, revealing that his father had killed Qin Yong, its true author, and accused Wu You of stealing Qin Yong's work, just as he had stolen her heart. Their hidden deceptions, now brought to light, became sharp blades wounding them both. Outside the tomb, Wu Yu pleaded for his brother to come out. The Emperor questioned Fu Chou, asking if he had known Rong Le's true identity all along.
Fu Chou denied any prior knowledge, explaining he had accepted the marriage for the sake of peace after the other princes refused. To prove his loyalty, he offered to resign from the military. The Crown Prince and other officials defended Fu Chou, blaming Wu You for the debacle and emphasizing Fu Chou's crucial role in the army, urging the Emperor to reconsider.
