Yun Shu followed Zhang Sinian home. Curious, she asked him why he compromised so quickly. Zhang Sinian told Yun Shu that what he mentioned about marriage was not in the traditional sense, but rather a kind of contractual relationship. This way, all the problems they were currently facing could be easily resolved. Zhang Sinian analyzed their current difficulties with Yun Shu and said that as long as she agreed to marry him, he could transfer the house to her.
Upon hearing this, Yun Shu frowned and said she had never imagined her marriage would be like this. Besides, she hadn’t even been in a relationship yet. However, she would still be there for Grandpa whenever Zhang Sinian needed her. Yun Shu told Gao Zhiyi and Lin Nuo about this. Lin Nuo thought it was a huge scandal, while Gao Zhiyi thought it was actually a good idea. The two of them got into an argument over it.
Yun Shu found a shared apartment, but the living conditions were terrible. Grandpa asked Zhang Sinian to visit Yun Shu when he had time and secretly told him how he had once won Grandma over. When Zhang Sinian got home, he found Yun Shu dragging her suitcase to leave. Yun Shu thanked him but still decided to move out.
Although she was touched that Zhang Sinian had bought her a new bed, she still felt it wasn’t a place she should stay in for long. After Zhang Sinian walked Yun Shu out of the neighborhood, he told her the contract marriage would remain valid for one month. Just as he turned to go upstairs, Yun Shu suddenly reappeared in his sight, running at full speed and leaning against him.
She introduced Zhang Sinian to her sister Yun Lan as her boyfriend. Although Yun Lan was skeptical, she still believed Yun Shu. Seeing this, Zhang Sinian had no choice but to play along. Yun Lan was suspicious of their relationship and questioned Yun Shu and Zhang Sinian separately about details of their romance. Coincidentally, Yun Lan received a phone call requiring statistical knowledge. Zhang Sinian performed a series of brilliant calculations that left Yun Lan dumbfounded.
That night, Yun Shu laid out the bedding for Yun Lan and said she would be sleeping in Zhang Sinian’s room. Zhang Sinian brought up the contract marriage again, but Yun Shu said she really couldn’t agree to it. Just as Yun Shu was about to fall asleep, she suddenly remembered that her Five-Thousand was missing. She went downstairs to look for it, and Zhang Sinian followed. They found the suitcase, but not Five-Thousand.
Zhang Sinian suggested going to the sanitation station at five in the morning, as there was a good chance they’d find it there. Without Five-Thousand, Yun Shu couldn’t sleep well. Zhang Sinian suggested they chat about her thesis, but Yun Shu said she had already forgotten what it was about. Zhang Sinian said he remembered and started analyzing the issues in her thesis. Listening to Zhang Sinian ramble on about the thesis, Yun Shu started yawning.
Early the next morning, Yun Shu heard Yun Lan and Zhang Sinian talking outside and, scared that the truth had been exposed, rushed out, only to discover they were just mock debating. Yun Lan later found Yun Shu’s overnight expulsion certificate in the laundry basket and angrily confronted her. She couldn’t understand how someone as smart as herself could have such a foolish younger sister.
Zhang Sinian overheard their conversation and stepped in to defend Yun Shu, promising Yun Lan that he would take responsibility for everything concerning Yun Shu for the next year. After being "force-fed dog food" by the two, Yun Lan decided to move out but warned Yun Shu that she must inform her before making any big decisions next time.
Yun Shu went to the sanitation station and found that Professor Zhang was already helping her look for Five-Thousand and had gotten his clothes all dirty. On their way home, they saw that the younger sister riding the scooter had Five-Thousand hanging from the handlebars. The little girl refused to give the rabbit back no matter what. Helpless, Zhang Sinian resorted to trickery and took Five-Thousand back. Because of Five-Thousand, Zhang Sinian realized his previous calculations had been wrong. Seeing how kind Zhang Sinian had been to her lately, Yun Shu suddenly changed her mind and said she was willing to help him fulfill his grandfather’s wish.
