Bai Luo partners with Luo Shi, the president of the "Wharf Gang," to get close to Qian Mucheng, the young master of the Paramount, with the aim of helping Luo Shi take over the establishment. However, Bai Luo's true objective is to completely dismantle the Qian family and exact revenge for her own kin. It's revealed that Bai Luo and Qian Mucheng were once engaged.
Five years ago, the Bai family became entangled in Lincheng's opium trade and was wiped out overnight by their enemies. Bai Luo sought help from Qian Mucheng but was humiliatingly rejected, and he called off their engagement on the spot.
