Cherry did not dislike Jiang Qiaoxi. She only wanted to know what had happened to him, but Jiang Qiaoxi did not want to speak about it. He left home and went to the construction site where he usually worked. On the way, he ran into the landlord, asking him to buy shrimp dumplings for Cherry the next day, as she really liked them. That evening, Cherry was alone at home.
The climate there had a large difference between day and night, and the air conditioner at Jiang Qiaoxi's place was broken. She felt cold and had to wrap herself in a blanket, drinking only tap water from the pipe when thirsty. The next day, Cherry woke up to a call from Du Shang. Du Shang wasn't surprised that Cherry was in Hong Kong.
He explained that they had all learned about Jiang Qiaoxi's whereabouts, but Qin Yeyun had stopped them from saying anything, so they kept it quiet. However, Du Shang felt that Cherry should know, so after discussing with Cai Fangyuan, they decided to tell her. Cherry wasn't angry, as she understood that Qin Yeyun had meant well. The landlord brought breakfast to Cherry. He tried to persuade her to stay at a hotel, but Cherry refused to leave.
Later, the landlord offered to take her to the construction site where Jiang Qiaoxi worked. Cherry quickly ate a couple of bites and went with him. On the way, they talked about Jiang Qiaoxi, and Cherry learned that the landlord was a good person. Because Jiang Qiaoxi had helped him earn money, the landlord gave him the best room at a low rent, but Jiang Qiaoxi still had to work several jobs.
The landlord didn't elaborate on the reasons, but suggested that Cherry ask Jiang Qiaoxi herself. When they arrived, Cherry immediately spotted Jiang Qiaoxi. He was squatting on the ground, eating with the other workers. Jiang Qiaoxi didn’t want to meet her like this and quickly ran away. Cherry chased after him, but her body wasn’t feeling well, and she collapsed on the ground. Later, she stood up but fainted. Jiang Qiaoxi hurriedly took her to the hospital.
Thankfully, there was no major issue; she had just suffered from heatstroke. While Cherry was unconscious, she dreamt of her childhood with Jiang Qiaoxi. She woke up crying and felt reassured when she saw Jiang Qiaoxi by her side. However, she didn’t want to stay in the hospital because she was worried Jiang Qiaoxi would disappear again. She insisted that Jiang Qiaoxi take her home. But Jiang Qiaoxi, worried about her, wanted to send her to a hotel.
However, staying at a hotel required Cherry's ID card, and Cherry pretended to be drowsy, so Jiang Qiaoxi had no choice but to carry her home on his back. Once home, Jiang Qiaoxi let Cherry take a hot shower. Since the bathroom door was broken, he stood guard by the door. After Cherry finished, she asked Jiang Qiaoxi to take a shower as well. Cherry thought his body wash smelled really good.
When he carried her earlier, that scent was on him. After returning to the room, she waited for Jiang Qiaoxi to finish his shower. When he entered, she felt like she had returned to high school, as he looked the same as he did back then. Now, with just the two of them, Cherry wanted to know what had happened to Jiang Qiaoxi over the past two years, and why she had to bear so much.
