Nice to Meet You Episode 42 Recap
> Nice to Meet You Recap
Yu Yi finally confessed to Gao Hui that he was responsible for instructing the factory to skip two production steps, leaving her stunned. At a family meeting, Grandma expressed her strong displeasure over the quality issue. Although Gao Hui initially intended to take the blame, Yu Yi quickly stepped forward, accepting full responsibility and offering his resignation. Grandma sharply rebuked Yu Yi for being blinded by profit and demanded that he resolve the crisis effectively.
She then tasked him with addressing Rui Hua's current financial woes. Just then, a secretary announced that more clients had sent return letters and were demanding compensation. These new demands, combined with the initial compensation, meant Rui Hua's capital reserves would only last ten days, after which the factory would cease operations if no funds arrived. Grandma called Yu Zhi and Yu Yi, deciding to mortgage the city's south commercial building as they had no other viable options.
Later, exhausted, Grandma retired to her room. Yu Yi then received a phone call regarding his collateralized shares, which were due. He urgently requested more time from the lender, assuring them that he would redeem the shares soon and that they must not be sold. The lender, having heard rumors about Rui Hua's financial troubles, reluctantly agreed to hold them for a while longer.
Grandma found herself unable to eat, her greatest fear being a broken capital chain and damaged reputation, which she believed would spell the end for Rui Hua. Yu Yi felt immense guilt, but pointed out that the overseas buyer had only sought compensation, not a lawsuit, indicating there was still some hope. Meanwhile, for Pan Yue's birthday, Gao Jie presented her with a custom-made butterfly cake, which Pan Yue adored.
Gao Hai also arrived to celebrate, and Gao Jie, seeing Pan Yue's warm welcome, let him in. Pan Yue affectionately referred to him as "Ah Hai." Gao Hai and Gao Jie sang "Happy Birthday" together, and Gao Hai shared a sketchbook filled with butterfly drawings he had promised Pan Yue. Gao Jie quietly cut the cake. Throughout the celebration, Gao Hai ignored calls from Wu Xiaoci, and Gao Jie similarly disregarded any attempts to contact her.
Yu Zhi proceeded with mortgaging the commercial building but wasn't sure if the funds would be available within the critical ten-day window. Yu Yi advised him not to inform Grandma about the mortgage just yet, hoping to find another solution. After Pan Yue grew tired and went to rest, Gao Jie told Gao Hai she wanted to speak with him.
She expressed her gratitude for his presence, noting it was the first time Pan Yue had been so genuinely happy on her birthday in years. Gao Hai felt he didn't deserve her thanks, admitting he hadn't been a good father or husband, and apologized for neglecting them for so long. Gao Jie accepted his apology, stating she had already let go of the past for his peace of mind and was grateful he was helping her mother find happy memories.
Gao Hai was deeply moved and wished to hear her call him "Dad" again. However, Gao Jie brought up Wu Xiaoci, urging him to manage the balance between his two families, or else it would be better to distance himself to allow Pan Yue a peaceful life. Later, Gao Hui found a distraught Yu Yi, who was drinking alone. She revealed she knew he had resolved the factory issues using his personal funds and had collateralized his shares.
Yu Yi defiantly claimed he acted purely for his own benefit, but Gao Hui saw through his facade, recognizing his concern for her. She offered him a bank card with her savings, though small, hoping it could help Rui Hua's cash flow, insisting he not reject her good intentions. At Rui Hua, during a board meeting, Mu Ziyun dramatically entered with a large entourage.
A lawyer representing Fancy announced that they had acquired over 50% of Rui Hua's shares, making them the largest shareholder and appointing Mu Ziyun as the new Chairwoman. Grandma refused to believe it, but Mu Ziyun smirked, revealing that Yu Yi's collateralized shares had been used to secure the acquisition. After reviewing the contract, Grandma was enraged. Mu Ziyun, now in charge, calmly rejected the plan to mortgage the commercial building and demanded a reorganization of the Board of Directors.
Grandma was overwhelmed and nearly collapsed at the table. Yu Yi rushed to assist her, helping her out of the room, while Mu Ziyun confidently took the chairman's seat. Yu Zhi angrily confronted Yu Yi, who was filled with remorse, admitting he had multiple chances to redeem the shares but kept missing them, never anticipating Mu Ziyun would seize them. He stated that it was useless to say anything now and that his only hope was for Grandma's recovery.
Meanwhile, Wu Xiaoci, observing Rui Hua's chaotic state, advised Gao Hui to consider her own future. Gao Hui, however, refused to abandon Yu Zhi during Rui Hua's crisis. Wu Xiaoci argued that staying at Rui Hua would leave Gao Hui suppressed by the new Chairwoman, Mu Ziyun, and unable to help Yu Zhi.
Instead, she urged Gao Hui to leave and establish her own studio, asserting that Yu Zhi's difficult situation was an opportunity for him to realize who truly supported him. Gao Hai, overhearing their conversation, tried to diffuse the tension by calling them for dinner. However, when Gao Hui disparaged Gao Jie, Gao Hai couldn't tolerate it and nearly blurted out the truth about his past with Wu Xiaoci.
The argument escalated, and Gao Hai, unable to agree with Wu Xiaoci's manipulative advice to Gao Hui, angrily left the house, leaving Wu Xiaoci and Gao Hui furious. As Rui Hua prepared for its merger with Fancy, Mu Ziyun and General Manager Ju finalized their agreements.
General Manager Ju insisted that Gao Hui remain at Rui Hua and mentioned a "gambling agreement," making it clear that Mu Ziyun's target of a ten percent increase in performance over the previous year was non-negotiable. Gao Jie noticed that the customization group's workshop remained closed.
Gao Hui then accosted Gao Jie, harshly accusing her of instigating Gao Hai, colluding with Mu Ziyun to take over Rui Hua, and declaring that Gao Jie could have Gao Hai and her career, but Yu Zhi was off-limits. Gao Jie was stunned by the news of Mu Ziyun's takeover. Gao Jie rushed to the hospital, hoping to visit Grandma. Yu Yi furiously ordered her to leave, becoming even more enraged when Yu Zhi defended her.
At that moment, a nurse announced that the patient had awakened. Yu Guanghua, Yu Zhi, and Yu Yi hurried into the room, but Master Zheng blocked Gao Jie at the door, cautioning her against entering and upsetting Grandma, as she was, after all, Mu Ziyun's niece. Inside, Yu Guanghua knelt by his ailing mother's bedside, severely slapping himself twice, while Grandma, despite her condition, still worried about the company.
