Nice to Meet You Episode 31 Recap
> Nice to Meet You Recap
As Gao Hui prepared for work, she encountered Gao Jie outside her home. Gao Hui provoked her, stating that Gao Jie's mother had been an embarrassment and Yu Zhi's grandmother was likely to tell her to leave. Gao Jie responded by slapping Gao Hui, explaining that the slap was for her mother.
She warned Gao Hui that she would double the favor if such an incident happened again, clarifying that she didn't need Gao Hai as a father and had never wanted him, but would not tolerate anyone using or harming her mother. Gao Hui retorted, telling Gao Jie not to provoke her.
Gao Jie then reminded Gao Hui that everyone has a bottom line and revealed that, contrary to Gao Hui's hopes, Yu Zhi's grandmother was not angry about what happened with her mother, but had become even more sympathetic to her situation, making it harder for Yu Zhi to leave her. Gao Jie advised Gao Hui to let go of her attempts. Later, Wu Xiaoci found Gao Hui with a slap mark on her face.
Gao Hui tearfully recounted that both Gao Hai and now Gao Jie had hit her, lamenting that she had never been so humiliated. Wu Xiaoci, furious, promised to retaliate, then encouraged her daughter to stand up and not show vulnerability if she wasn't ready to give up. Gao Hui asserted she wouldn't give up, and Wu Xiaoci drove her to work, determined to show Rui Hua that Gao Hui was Wu Xiaoci's daughter.
Meanwhile, Mu Ziyun met with General Manager Ju, who oversaw acquisitions for Fancy in Greater China. Mu Ziyun, cutting straight to the point, offered to help General Manager Ju acquire Rui Hua, knowing it was a long-standing interest. General Manager Ju, cautious, asked for a show of sincerity. Mu Ziyun readily agreed to handle the major shareholder, Zhou Weixian, satisfying General Manager Ju, who found talking with smart people refreshing and looked forward to good news.
As Wu Xiaoci drove Gao Hui to work, they spotted Mu Ziyun parting ways with a man outside the company building. Zhao Yue, the man, told Mu Ziyun to consider what he had said, and Mu Ziyun acknowledged him. Intrigued, Wu Xiaoci instructed Gao Hui to go to work while she discreetly followed Zhao Yue. Yu Yi sought out Gao Hui, having heard about the previous day's events.
Gao Hui defensively asked if he was there to scold her, then launched into a tirade, claiming she didn't have a sister like Gao Jie, who constantly undermined her at Rui Hua. She expressed her frustration that Gao Jie had stolen Yu Zhi's heart, that her doting father now sided with Gao Jie, and that everyone sympathized with Gao Jie while painting her, Gao Hui, as the villain.
She insisted she only wanted to keep what was hers—her career and her relationship—and wondered if that was wrong. Yu Yi listened patiently, telling her that perspectives on right and wrong varied and encouraging her to vent her true feelings to him, as she didn't need to pretend. Yu Zhi and Yan Kai discussed their strategy against Mu Ziyun.
Yu Zhi noted Mu Ziyun's cautious nature and believed the best way to get leverage on her was through someone close to her. Yan Kai suggested Li Bingshen, who had grown resentful after years of working under Mu Ziyun, despite his usual reticence. Yan Kai was confident they could sway Li Bingshen with a small push. Later, Yan Kai's associate approached a drunken Li Bingshen, who, spurred on by commiseration about demanding bosses, poured out his grievances.
Li Bingshen detailed Mu Ziyun's despicable actions done in secret and how she had treated him disrespectfully despite his years of dedication. Wu Xiaoci later presented her findings to Gao Hui, showing her a picture of Zhao Yue. She explained that Zhao Yue owned a popular tea house, and their close relationship was evident as he dropped Mu Ziyun off at work.
Wu Xiaoci's friends, who frequented the tea house, had seen Mu Ziyun meeting others there, though they couldn't identify them. Wu Xiaoci speculated that Mu Ziyun's secretive meetings indicated some hidden dealings. Gao Hui, seeing this as an opportunity, hoped to help Yu Zhi bring down Mu Ziyun, believing it would earn his admiration. When Li Bingshen awoke, he found Yu Zhi and Yan Kai present. Yan Kai played a recording of Li Bingshen's drunken complaints from the previous night.
Yu Zhi, with a few carefully chosen words and a tempting offer of significant benefits, easily secured Li Bingshen's cooperation. Yu Zhi instructed Li Bingshen to discreetly monitor Mu Ziyun, and Li Bingshen soon reported that Mu Ziyun frequently visited the tea house, seemingly to meet people she wished to keep separate from her company dealings. Gao Hui went to see Yu Zhi, who dismissively told her to leave.
Enraged, she threw a stack of photos onto his desk and stormed out. Yu Yi, waiting nearby, saw her exit and quickly tried to avoid her, but Gao Hui chased after him, asking him to dinner. Yu Yi refused. Gao Hui eventually found herself alone at a roadside stall, only to have a chance encounter with Yu Yi, who had just bought some late-night snacks there.
Overwhelmed, Gao Hui broke down in tears, lamenting that everyone had abandoned her, even Yu Yi. Yu Yi explained that he had his basic self-respect; since she was so absorbed in her feelings for Yu Zhi, he had to withdraw. Gao Hui, with a strained smile, said she would accept it, a sight that deeply pained Yu Yi. Gao Jie discovered Yu Zhi was investigating Mu Ziyun.
Yu Zhi didn't hide his intentions, firmly stating he would not let Mu Ziyun off the hook this time. He then deliberately provoked Mu Ziyun, who, visibly irritated, took a phone call and hastily departed from the company. Meanwhile, individuals sent by Yu Yi offered Gao Hui a significantly low market price for a transaction. Gao Hui, unaware of Yu Yi's true motivations, simply believed he was doing her a personal favor.
Despite knowing that revealing he had collateralized his shares for her would deeply move her, Yu Yi wished for her to be with him out of genuine affection. Gao Hui once again sought out Yu Zhi, who largely ignored her. Upon learning that Mu Ziyun had again gone to the tea house, Yu Zhi quickly made to leave, and Gao Hui followed him. They arrived at the tea house and searched all the private rooms.
Just as they were about to check the last room, Zhao Yue opened the door, revealing Gao Jie inside. It turned out that Zhao Yue wanted to commission a custom jewelry piece and had invited Gao Jie to design it. Still unconvinced, Gao Hui insisted on dragging Yu Zhi upstairs to search further, but they found nothing. Yu Zhi, realizing there was nothing to see, quickly left.
Gao Hui, however, remained adamant that Gao Jie was merely covering for Mu Ziyun, a claim Yu Zhi dismissed as unbelievable. After Yu Zhi and Gao Hui departed, Mu Ziyun finally emerged, confirming that Gao Jie had indeed been providing a cover for her.
Mu Ziyun explained that her visit to the tea house was simply to catch up with Zhao Yue, then proceeded to recount her personal hardships within the Yu family, making it difficult for Gao Jie to press her for further details.
