Lin Huayin arrived to inspect the assistants' work at the lab. Anfei was engrossed in her task, handling a high-frequency sonar device with care. She remarked that while the red light on the device was beautiful, it also signified danger, explaining that high-frequency sonar, used militarily for full-scale underwater scans, could cruelly scare away fish and shrimp, likening its disruptive effect to Nuozha in the sea. Ye Hai soon arrived, expressing concern for Anfei.
Lin Huayin, noticing his frequent visits, teased him about his newfound interest in scientific research and asked if he had changed his "type" to a studious one. Ye Hai clarified that he was "just a friend" to Anfei, who he heard was Mo Liang's sister and worked in the same institute. He then tried to steer the conversation to serious matters, attempting to obtain the Poseidon project's safety plan and future digging plans.
He explained his concerns stemmed from doubts his grandfather had about previous plans. Lin Huayin, however, deflected his questions, suggesting he work with her to learn faster, but Ye Hai was wary of her offer. When an assistant called her, Lin Huayin abruptly ended their conversation. After work, Researcher Kanghao approached Anfei, persistently inviting her to a movie and dinner. He suggested she call him by his first name, Kanghao, as they would soon be colleagues.
Anfei, finding his incessant chatter exhausting, was reluctant but struggled to refuse. When Liu Lan walked by and greeted Kanghao with a meaningful look towards Anfei, Anfei felt annoyed and, out of spite, agreed to the movie. At the cinema, while trying to choose a film, Kanghao continued talking, even suggesting a documentary on 'Dolphin Dove' as "study."
Anfei, overwhelmed by his monologue on movie lines and the "Dayang eternal theory," secretly texted her friend A Ming, begging for a call to rescue her. At home, Ye Hai experienced another vivid vision of Poseidon. Poseidon accused Anfei of helping others exploit the ocean and warned Ye Hai he would be cursed, showing him a vision of a violent ocean explosion as punishment. Later, at the cinema, a startled Ye Hai spotted Anfei with Kanghao.
Frustrated by Kanghao's relentless chatter, Anfei mentally wished he would disappear. Seeing Anfei's distress, Ye Hai discreetly intervened by causing an accident in the men's room, resulting in Kanghao getting his clothes wet. Kanghao apologized to Anfei, explaining he couldn't walk her home and promising to continue their discussion over dinner next time. Relieved, Anfei silently thanked providence for her escape.
The next day, Anfei, now an intern, reflected that everything seemed to be going smoothly "ever since not seeing that guy" (Ye Hai). She and her colleagues were simulating a collection experiment. Dr. Mo returned, congratulating them and inquiring about their progress. Anfei confidently explained the experiment's advancement, including determining drilling locations and the upcoming delivery of high-quality detecting equipment. Ye Hai then arrived at the lab. Liu Lan immediately asked Anfei to give him a tour.
Anfei, in a surprisingly serious tone, explained the deep-sea prospecting process and the confidence placed in Dr. Mo's energy storage patent. Ye Hai, amused by her changed demeanor, teased her for being so serious and "not like herself." Anfei challenged him, asking what he truly wanted to know about the lab. Ye Hai replied that how he lived his life was his own business, and he was at the lab to work.
Later, Ye Hai instructed his assistant to investigate the risks of Dr. Mo's new energy development and the specifics of its patent. He also questioned a missing Hanhai ship record from 13 years ago, which documented his grandfather leading a large fleet to the South China Sea without stating its purpose. He suspected a connection to his parents' shipwreck around the same time. He then met his brother, who was looking at sea maps.
Ye Hai probed him about Hanhai's sudden interest in deep-sea ventures and the Poseidon lab, noting that their grandfather had never engaged in energy development. His brother gave evasive answers and accused Ye Hai of only being interested because of a girl. Meanwhile, Liu Lan advised Mo Liang to keep their interactions with Hanhai strictly professional. Ye Hai's assistant later confirmed that the 13-year-old voyage was indeed for new energy development but couldn't explain why it was abruptly terminated.
Ye Hai speculated his grandfather might have discovered something to halt the drilling and decided he would continue to frequent the lab to investigate further. The following day, Ye Hai returned to the lab, prompting group leader Zhu Miaomiao to tease Anfei about him "looking for her again." Ye Hai approached Anfei, asking her where Dr. Mo's office was, stating he needed to speak with him.
Mo Liang then invited Ye Hai for a private conversation, during which he showed Ye Hai a model of their detecting device and explained the upcoming underwater drilling. Ye Hai provocatively asked if his daily presence was annoying, to which Mo Liang candidly replied that as a sponsor, his constant presence was inappropriate and disruptive to the employees. Ye Hai, undeterred, announced his intention to request a permanent position at the lab, specifically with an office across from Anfei.
Mo Liang was speechless. Ye Hai then warned Mo Liang to be vigilant against others exploiting his technology and declared he would take care of Anfei himself. During lunch, Liu Lan mentioned that the project was in need of an English-speaking intern. Anfei volunteered for the task. After she made contact, she realized how difficult it was: she had only two days to arrange a transport ship for the project's delicate equipment.
Meanwhile, Ye Hai used a jammer to sneak into the lab's core area, but failed to find the information he was looking for. Elsewhere, Liu Lan called her teacher, reporting that someone was investigating the events of 13 years ago but assuring him that the Poseidon experiment would proceed. Later, Ye Hai went swimming alone to overcome his psychological barrier but struggled and nearly drowned. Anfei arrived just in time to pull him to shore.
Grateful, Ye Hai offered to lend her a Hanhai ship returning from Japan, complete with a professional loading team, to solve her transport problem. Anfei accepted and offered to teach him how to dive in the future as thanks, but Ye Hai, eager to conquer his fear, insisted, "Not in the future, now." Ye Hai immediately jumped into the water to try again and quickly transformed into Poseidon. Anfei, recognizing the change, tried to slip away, but Poseidon grabbed her.
He proclaimed that Duan Xiche couldn't control him and dragged a bewildered Anfei out of the water and onto the street, still in his diving suit and large flippers. A crowd quickly gathered, filming the unusual sight. Anfei frantically called Ye Hai's assistant, Duan Xiche, for help, then pleaded with the onlookers to stop recording, claiming Poseidon was her "violent" and "dangerous" younger brother. Poseidon, ignoring her attempts to pacify him, demanded a "horse" or a "boat," becoming annoyed at her actions and calling her "crazy."
