My Poseidon Episode 3 Recap
> My Poseidon Recap
An Fei gently reminded Ye Hai that their departed loved ones had transformed into stars in the sky. This conversation brought back vivid, painful memories for Ye Hai of a childhood maritime accident involving his parents, a tragedy that instilled in him a profound fear of the ocean, especially the sensation of being engulfed by water. An Fei found this perplexing, given his apparent bravery when apprehending pirates previously.
Ye Hai simply explained that his courage in those moments stemmed from the pirates deserving their fate. He then teased An Fei about her persistent admiration for Mo Liang, to which An Fei, trying to deflect, retorted by calling Mo Liang an "elder sister guy" due to his hairstyle. Ye Hai pressed on, highlighting An Fei's usual bold and careless nature, suggesting she was hiding her true feelings.
Frustrated, An Fei announced her departure, but Ye Hai proposed a bet: if she became Mo Liang's girlfriend by their next meeting, he would forgive her for damaging his bottle; if not, he asked what she would offer. An Fei dismissed the idea of a "next time" on those terms. Later, Ye Tian visited Ye Hai, expressing regret over Ye Hai's absence from their grandfather's funeral.
He proposed they tidy their grandfather's old house together once Ye Hai's current work was finished. Ye Hai observed a shift in his brother, noting that Ye Tian, once a workaholic, now seemed to prioritize family. Ye Tian calmly confirmed this, stating that his primary focus was fulfilling their grandfather's dying wish: securing the sponsorship for the Poseidon project. He emphasized the project's potential for human benefit.
However, Ye Hai remained skeptical, expressing fears that the project could be misused for personal profit. Ye Tian smiled, dismissing Ye Hai's concerns, and revealed that Mu Sen company was their partner, specifically highlighting Lin Huayin, Mu Sen's daughter, who grew up with Ye Hai, implying smooth cooperation. Ye Hai, however, immediately denied any friendship with Lin Huayin and asserted that business and personal relationships should not mix.
Ignoring Ye Hai's protests, Ye Tian informed him that he had already arranged a meeting with Lin Huayin at the lab the following afternoon and that she was delighted. He stressed that Ye Hai must attend, as the official cooperation launching ceremony was scheduled for the day after, and Han Hai needed to secure over 30% of the project's sponsorship by then. The next day, An Fei attended her interview for the Poseidon project assistant position.
She impressed the interviewers with her article about utilizing seabed heat as an eco-friendly power source for drilling platforms. However, when asked about her motivation, she openly admitted her admiration for Dr. Mo Liang, a renowned young scientist whose dedication had inspired her to study marine geology. The interviewer, Dr. Lu, misinterpreted this as mere idol worship, concluding she was unsuitable for their scientific team, and promptly ended the interview.
Meanwhile, Ye Hai met with Lin Huayin, who initially questioned his presence. Ye Hai firmly stated Han Hai Group's intent to be a sponsor, proposing a joint sponsorship with Mu Sen, arguing that despite Han Hai's financial strength, Mu Sen's expertise in marine resources was essential. Lin Huayin, however, brought up their childhood, vividly recalling Ye Hai's past antics and pranks.
After some lively banter, Ye Hai skillfully negotiated a deal, promising her his personal driver for six months in exchange for her company's co-sponsorship. She agreed, and left, promising to send the contact details. Distraught by her interview failure, An Fei confronted Dr. Lu, explaining her sacrifices and asking why she was rejected. Dr. Lu reiterated that pursuing an idol was not the spirit of scientific research. Just then, Ye Hai, having concluded his meeting, spotted An Fei and intervened.
He vouched for her, recounting her remarkable ability to hear dolphin sounds at 100 meters depth during their encounter with pirates, and introduced himself as the CEO of Han Hai and a project sponsor. He urged Dr. Lu not to overlook such a talent, prompting Dr. Lu to agree to reconsider An Fei's application.
As they walked away, An Fei thanked Ye Hai, but still expressed frustration, while Ye Hai jokingly offered her a personal secretary position, which she found ungrateful given her efforts. As Ye Hai and An Fei exited the building, they saw Mo Liang and Liu Lan working together. Ye Hai pointed out the similarity between An Fei and Liu Lan's hairstyles and teased An Fei about her obvious distress at not being able to work with her idol.
An Fei, heartbroken, got into Ye Hai's car and cried, admitting she constantly tried to emulate Liu Lan but felt trapped in her shadow. Suddenly, a torrential rain began. An Fei noticed Ye Hai standing outside in the downpour, his expression intense and severe, as thunder and lightning flashed. She frantically called for him to return, fearing he might be struck. He remained motionless until the rain stopped, then returned to the car, completely unaware of his actions.
He questioned An Fei why he was in the rain, and she, shaken by his behavior and the lightning, accused him of acting like a ghost and asked if he sleepwalked in the day. Ye Hai, dismissing the strange episode, said he was concerned for his safety and decided to take a cab home, noting that bad things always seemed to happen when they were together. Alone, An Fei resolved to stop imitating others and embrace her true self.
Later, Ye Hai met with Ye Tian, confirming Han Hai's successful sponsorship. Ye Tian, with a knowing look, implied that Lin Huayin's unacknowledged affection for Ye Hai likely facilitated the deal, a suggestion Ye Hai quickly dismissed. Ye Tian then gave Ye Hai the agenda for the upcoming laboratory launching ceremony and revealed a shocking truth: their grandfather had discovered a new energy source long ago, a fact Ye Hai was completely unaware of.
Ye Tian explained that the discovery had been kept secret because the technology and equipment of that era were insufficient for its development, but with the current excellent research team, he was confident the project would succeed and fulfill their grandfather's vision. Separately, An Fei confided in her friend, Ming, about her disappointment and feeling like a "pupil" next to Liu Lan, despite her academic prowess.
Ming questioned if her desire to join the lab was purely for Mo Liang, calling her foolish if so, but then suggested that if Ye Hai had expressed similar concerns, it would indicate his genuine care. Meanwhile, in his study, Ye Hai felt a growing discomfort whenever he looked at an oil painting depicting Poseidon and Amphitrite. The next day, the laboratory launching ceremony commenced, hosted by Vince.
He introduced the key figures: Lin Huayin of Mu Sen, Ye Tian of Han Hai, Dr. Mo Liang, and Ye Hai, the CEO of Han Hai and chairman of the international marine conservation society's Chinese branch. As the signing ceremony was about to begin and heavy rain started outside, Ye Hai, preparing to speak, underwent an abrupt and chilling transformation.
His eyes turned cold, and he declared in a harsh, deliberate tone, "Without any permission, who dares to use the sea for his benefit!" The audience was stunned and confused by his unexpected outburst. To everyone's shock, Ye Hai then walked off the stage and followed An Fei outside, ignoring Lin Huayin and Ye Tian's attempts to stop him amidst the reporters. He grabbed An Fei, murmuring, "I'm sorry, forgive me."
An Fei was furious and bewildered, demanding to know what was wrong with him and accusing him of intentionally sabotaging the important ceremony, especially as Mo Liang was set to lead the project. In his altered state, Ye Hai simply repeated, "I am the reason," then again apologized and asked for her forgiveness.
Inside, Ye Tian quickly reassured the bewildered audience, attributing his brother's behavior to lingering recovery from a past pirate attack in Greece, and reiterated Han Hai's commitment to the project, thanking Dr. Mo Liang. Outside, as the rain subsided, Ye Hai suddenly returned to normal, disoriented and with no memory of his actions.
He asked An Fei where he was and if he had been at a ceremony, initially accusing her of lying when she confronted him about his strange behavior. Later, when Ye Tian found him, Ye Hai confessed he had no idea what happened, speculating he might just be prone to losing his temper easily, and Ye Tian told him to rest while he managed the remainder of the ceremony.
After pushing away the still confused Ye Hai, An Fei found Mo Liang, who expressed concern for her well-being following Ye Hai's incident. Mo Liang then happily informed her that she had passed the first round of interviews for the assistant position.
An Fei was ecstatic, asking if he had pulled strings for her, but Mo Liang insisted she deserved it and advised her to prepare for the physical test, providing her an ID card to access the lab's swimming pool for practice, acknowledging her impressive diving record. As they spoke, An Fei noticed a person secretly taking photos. She immediately pursued the individual, recognizing them as someone who had caused trouble at the Greek energy conference.
The person claimed to be a reporter, but An Fei doubted their legitimacy, demanding a press pass. The person, who identified as Long Taizi, threw a business card at An Fei and then swiftly escaped. Back at his office, Ye Hai reviewed photos of the Aegean Sea incident, noting the inexplicable lack of evidence of their rescue. He expressed disbelief at how he, with his aquaphobia, could have saved An Fei.
His assistant suggested they were "blessed by God," an idea Ye Hai skeptically dismissed. Unconvinced, he sought psychological counseling. During the session, he denied experiencing typical symptoms like mania or aggression, but admitted that the changes in him, including a constant thirst, began after he jumped into the sea. The psychologist noted his physical data was normal and suggested his childhood sea accident might have caused psychological trauma, leading to aquaphobia. After a moment of contemplation about his constant thirst, Ye Hai concluded that all his strange symptoms started "After I met her" – referring to An Fei.
