An Fei was crying sadly when Ye Hai quietly came and sat beside her. He asked her what was wrong, and seeing her tears, guessed it was because of Mo Liang. Unable to resist, he pulled An Fei into a hug, gently stroking her hair. An Fei, still upset, asked Ye Hai if he found her boring, to which he plainly replied that she was very boring.
Yet, he admitted to himself that she made him feel helpless, and he couldn't help but miss this "stupid girl." As An Fei leaned in, Ye Hai stopped her, saying it was dangerous. When she then tried to kiss him, he cautioned her to think carefully. Before they could kiss, a loud bang interrupted them, and Ye Hai quickly shielded An Fei. The loud bang turned out to be a meteorite that had struck the roof, leaving a large hole.
An Fei was startled and wondered if it was an explosion, while Ye Hai cautioned her to be careful. The landlady exclaimed that while people usually watched meteors, they had one fall on their house, calling it magical. Ye Hai, however, provided a scientific explanation, detailing the meteorite's components and dismissing superstitions. Due to the damage, An Fei's room was uninhabitable, so she moved into Ye Hai's room while he agreed to sleep in the living room.
The landlady, having seen them almost kiss, suggestively proposed they "temporarily stay together" in one room, which An Fei flatly rejected. An Fei tried to call a friend for help, but the friend was distracted by a meteor shower and did not answer.
An Fei wanted to move out, but the landlady refused and instead presented them with two pairs of "lucky shorts," one white for An Fei and one red for Ye Hai, insisting they wear them to resolve their "conflicts" and bring them closer. An Fei was horrified, threatening to throw away the landlady's cat if she didn't get her rent money back. The landlady begged her to reconsider, promising the shorts would make everything go smoothly.
Ye Hai sarcastically noted that they still had "something we haven't done yet," referring to their interrupted kiss. An Fei scoffed at the shorts, but Ye Hai simply reminded her, as a scientific researcher, not to believe in superstitions. After a restless night, An Fei tried to sneak out in the morning, only to be greeted by Ye Hai, who was wiping down an old bicycle and offered to give her a ride to the lab.
An Fei found the vintage bike ugly and dismissed his nostalgic gesture. Just then, Mo Liang arrived in his car. An Fei happily got in, leaving a jealous Ye Hai to comment, "It's near here, why does she go by his car?" In the car, Mo Liang mentioned that the landlady was unhappy about An Fei disappearing last night, but he had covered for her.
An Fei was surprised he knew, and as she recalled almost kissing Ye Hai, Mo Liang noticed her distraction. He then bought her breakfast, which delighted An Fei, as no one had ever bought her breakfast during her four years at university. An Fei, thrilled, asked if he would drive her to work again tomorrow, and he confirmed he would drive "only her." At the Hai Cheng Geological Research Institute, Mo Liang and An Fei encountered Lin Huayin.
She questioned Mo Liang's commitment to the Poseidon experiment, implying he wasn't fully devoted despite its stoppage. Mo Liang clarified that while progress was slow, other work continued. At his request, An Fei began reporting on the experiment's progress, but Lin Huayin was uninterested in the technical details. Mo Liang then explained his new philosophy: proceeding carefully, even if a step behind, was better than rushing and making errors.
He affirmed the experiment would continue once he found a more suitable test area. Lin Huayin challenged him, arguing that a "small high frequency event" shouldn't halt everything and accused him of not trusting Liao Lan's experience. Mo Liang firmly stated he only trusted himself and asked Lin Huayin to stay out of the lab's technical matters. Meanwhile, Tong Zi Long sought out Liao Lan, addressing her as "Researcher Liao."
Liao Lan feigned ignorance, but Tong Zi Long reminded her of their past involvement in the Atlantic Na Lei Si experiment, a failed project she had led. He recounted her ambition and her use of high-performance methods that caused "great damage," accusing her of using a false report to cover up the destructive consequences. Liao Lan denied everything, claiming that while she had failed to find advanced conservation techniques, there had been no "bad results."
Frustrated, Tong Zi Long warned her that he would ensure the Poseidon experiment succeeded and accused her of pushing the use of high frequency to make Mo Liang fail. Later, Lin Huayin confronted Mo Liang and An Fei again, directly attacking An Fei. She questioned if Ye Hai was her "hunting dog" and escalated her accusations, presenting evidence of An Fei's connection to Tong Zi Long, whom she identified as an activist known for sabotaging exploration projects.
She pointed out that cameras showed Ye Hai and Tong Zi Long entering the data center together before a significant data loss and that An Fei was present when they met at the harbor. An Fei fiercely countered, dismissing those who don't understand scientific data, "except for those who are sensitive to money like General Director Lin." She warned Lin Huayin not to speculate on her relationship with Ye Hai, as Lin Huayin "can't do anything with him."
Mo Liang stepped in to end the argument, stating that he had already rejected exploitation techniques and would no longer discuss such issues with anyone, including Liao Lan. At lunch, Mo Liang noticed An Fei was quiet. He admitted his naivety, having once thought everyone shared his scientific views, and vaguely expressed his disillusionment with Liao Lan. He then invited An Fei to the cinema after work, and she happily accepted.
Later, on the way there, Mo Liang received a text message from Liao Lan asking to meet at the lab. Distracted, he drove past the cinema. An Fei noticed and suggested they skip the movie. Mo Liang quickly agreed, apologized, and dropped her off by the roadside before turning back. An Fei returned home alone to find Ye Hai talking with the landlady about her old movie collection. Amused by him, the landlady gave him a vintage movie ticket.
As they spoke, the voice of Poseidon (Ye Hai's inner self) began to taunt him for sleeping in the living room while An Fei was in his room, calling him useless. Ye Hai pretended to be on the phone to hide his internal conversation. Meanwhile, Mo Liang found Liao Lan at the lab. She confessed that during the past Atlantic experiment, she had indeed used high-frequency equipment to boost performance.
She insisted she wasn't wrong then or now, and claimed she wouldn't have considered it this time if Ye Hai hadn't been withholding their equipment. Unbeknownst to An Fei, as she returned home, someone was tracking her, taking photos and sending them to Lin Huayin.
