An Fei was shocked to discover that Ye Hai was her new roommate. She immediately approached the landlady, seeking to cancel her rental contract. However, the landlady firmly refused, explaining that once a contract was signed, it became effective immediately. An Fei tried to deter her by claiming incompatibility with Ye Hai, citing a fortuneteller's prediction of unlucky events if they lived together.

She even dramatically claimed that her nerves were affected, causing her to see "two shadows," and warned the landlady that if she fell, she might "pin down your cat." The landlady, however, dismissed these superstitions, advising An Fei, as a research scientist, to rely on scientific explanations. She playfully suggested An Fei and Ye Hai watch romantic movies together to foster a good relationship.

Ye Hai, who found An Fei quite lovely and easy-going, questioned why she was so against living with him, especially since she was a scientist involved in the Poseidon research. He explained that he was there to prevent her from accusing him of being prejudiced and extreme. He flirtatiously declared that they were "supposed to be together until death," a statement An Fei quickly corrected, clarifying that they were merely renting a house together and not a couple.

Meanwhile, Ye Tian called Ye Hai, expressing his frustration that Ye Hai's recent actions had caused him considerable trouble. He sternly criticized Ye Hai for rejecting several new projects, particularly regarding an increase in repair fees for a shipping agency, and for disregarding the shareholders' decisions. Ye Tian asserted his authority, informing Ye Hai that he had overridden all of his decisions, and the projects had passed through voting.

Enraged by his brother's unilateral actions, Ye Hai angrily threw an object, startling both An Fei and the landlady. The landlady chided Ye Hai for his temper, reminding him of her old age and the fear he caused their cat, Mini. Ye Hai apologized. Later, Dr. C called An Fei, sending her a solution that could assist her with the Poseidon experiment's pre-plan. He cautioned her, however, that all experiments carried inherent risks, and many ultimately went astray.

Shortly after, An Fei called Ming to complain about Ye Hai being her unexpected roommate. Her call was interrupted by Ye Hai, who yelled for her from the other room. An Fei confronted him for his loud behavior, especially in front of the landlady. The landlady also chimed in, criticizing An Fei's attitude, prompting Ye Hai to intervene and call for a truce between them.

The landlady, who had recently joined a cooking class, offered them some homemade almond oil, assuring them it was delicious. Ye Hai found it unappetizing, but An Fei, wanting him to suffer, insisted he eat it out of politeness to the landlady, leading to a comical exchange where they tried to pass the dish back and forth.

As An Fei worked on her pre-plan in the living room, the landlady watched a romantic drama on television, with Ye Hai joining her. An Fei secretly glanced at the screen, blushing when a kissing scene appeared. Ye Hai returned with more almond oil, casually licking his spoon, which made An Fei even more self-conscious, and she momentarily felt mesmerized by his handsome face. He then teased her about watching romance films, asking if she watched "50 Shades."

An Fei defensively claimed she didn't watch idol movies. Ye Hai questioned An Fei's commitment to the Poseidon experiment, asking if she would continue to pursue it if he could prove that the experiment, even under Mo Liang’s direction, was not aligned with her ideals. An Fei steadfastly affirmed her resolve, stating that she would complete her pre-plan, and only then would she be able to assess any potential problems.

Dong Zilong then met with Ye Hai, proposing a collaboration and offering new data to enhance marine protection efforts. Ye Hai initially refused, explaining that he had already halted many projects and was unwilling to invest in something against his wishes. However, Dong Zilong left a USB drive with the data for him, telling him to reconsider. Later, Ye Hai found An Fei secretly watching a romantic drama again.

He teased her, suggesting she was trying to learn romantic tactics to win over Mo Liang. He then handed her the USB drive from Dong Zilong, revealing it contained a data audit system for the project. An Fei, both surprised and delighted, used the system that night to successfully finalize her pre-plan, leading to a restful sleep. The following morning, she asked Ye Hai about the source of the data.

Ye Hai hesitated and vaguely stated that someone gave it to him. Internally, Poseidon scoffed at Ye Hai's overconfidence regarding An Fei, reminding him that Mo Liang was still a rival. While Ye Hai was in the kitchen, An Fei received a phone call from Mo Liang, who invited her to dinner. Ye Hai, clearly jealous, criticized her choice of attire as she prepared, suggesting she wear a cream-colored outfit to appear polite and feminine.

He warned that her current "lascivious pink" dress might make Mo Liang perceive her as a child, and sarcastically told her not to "cry and come back" that evening. An Fei dismissed his remarks. At a dinner with their mothers, Mo Liang's mother openly expressed her fondness for An Fei, noting her resemblance to her younger self and her family's good standing.

However, when his mother asked for his thoughts, Mo Liang privately told her that he had always considered An Fei his sister. An Fei overheard his words, leaving her heartbroken. She returned to the shared house, removed her high heels, and wept alone on the steps.
