My Heroic Husband Episode 7 Recap
> My Heroic Husband Recap
Feeling the lingering effects of the drugged wine, Su Tan’er and Ning Yi were both desperately thirsty when they stumbled upon their original divorce agreement. Tan’er had achieved her goal of getting the Family Representative Seal, which meant Ning Yi was now free. She casually asked him if he would leave, and Ning Yi, believing she was eager to be rid of him, readily agreed.
Stunned, Su Tan’er then offered him half of her personal fortune, but Ning Yi refused, insisting he would leave with nothing. That night, neither could sleep. The next morning, Su Tan’er hurried to the wing room, only to find Ning Yi gone, leaving behind the divorce letter. Su Tan’er pretended not to see it and proceeded to prepare for the Puyuan Poetry Meeting, hoping to hire performers for Su’s Cloth Store.
However, she found all the local brothels had already been booked by Wu’s. Meanwhile, Ning Yi was making his rounds. He visited the Elder Master, teaching him a new game he called "horse ball on the ground," which the Elder Master found very amusing. Next, he presented a "facial mask" to Su Tan’er’s mother, promising it would preserve her "timeless beauty," though she initially mistook it for food.
He then shared a renewed cup of tea with Su Tan’er’s father, who expressed his deep love and concern for his daughter, regretting her potential unhappiness in marriage despite her immense talent. Ning Yi acknowledged the father's unspoken love and gifted him a book, suggesting it would help resolve their father-daughter relationship issues. Finally, Ning Yi visited the Second Master's family, presenting them with "Su’s Account Book," a mathematics-based ledger he created to help them avoid being cheated in business.
Though Second Master initially rejected it, his father, recognizing its value, accepted it and chided his son for his lack of foresight. Guard Geng reported to Ning Yi that Wu’s had indeed booked all the singers, leaving Su Tan’er without performers to showcase her fabric at the Poetry Meeting. Su Tan’er, aware of Ning Yi's impending departure, felt helpless. Chan, seeing her mistress’s distress, offered to perform herself.
However, as Chan stepped out, she spotted Ning Yi and Guard Geng with their luggage, seemingly preparing to leave for good. She spoke to Ning Yi, asking if he was leaving and if he had anything to say, then wished him a safe journey before returning to the room. Unaware of Chan's thoughts, Ning Yi and Guard Geng departed to handle matters.
Ning Yi sought out his friends from the Academy of Male Virtuousness, asking for their help at the Poetry Meeting, and they all enthusiastically agreed. Kang Xian, the Dean of the academy, also joined them, and Ning Yi engaged him in recounting his stories with the princess, filling the air with laughter and camaraderie.
In the days leading up to the Poetry Meeting, Su Tan’er's poems took on a sorrowful tone, prompting Chan to note the unusual change in her mistress's style. As evening fell, they made their way to the Puyuan Poetry Meeting. Unbeknownst to them, it was the Second Master’s family who had secretly informed Wu’s that Su Tan’er had no written contract with Xinmen Brothel, allowing Wu’s to preemptively book all the performers, aiming to humiliate Su Tan’er.
Wu’s Cloth Store performed after several lackluster presentations by other competitors, who could only put forth their footboys due to lack of performers. Wu's, however, put on a spectacular show with nine renowned beauties, drawing thunderous applause and overshadowing all other competitors. Next was Su’s Cloth Store. Chan, meant to perform, trembled with nervousness. Just then, a mist began to rise from under the bridge, captivating the audience.
Ning Yi emerged, expertly poling a boat across the water, carrying the ethereal beauty Nie Yunzhu. His friends from the Academy of Male Virtuousness, including Guard Geng, provided musical accompaniment from behind. Ning Yi sang a soft melody as Nie Yunzhu appeared like a celestial fairy. She then took the stage, performing a captivating dance that perfectly highlighted the beauty and flow of Su’s fabric. All eyes were drawn to Su’s Cloth Store, and the crowd erupted in praise.
Seeing their meticulously planned scheme utterly foiled, Wu’s father and son left in a fit of rage. Back at the Su family residence, the servants gathered around Ning Yi, eager to learn the secrets behind his spectacular performance. Ning Yi explained how he created the colorful lights using special lanterns with copper wires and black cloth to focus the light, covered with vibrant silk.
For Nie Yunzhu's "flying" act, he revealed it was achieved using tough steel wires, a technique he called "wire fu," dismissing his ingenuity as a mere trifle. As Su Tan’er entered, the crowd dispersed. Ning Yi presented her with a bowl of his specially made Cherry shaved ice with cheese, an exclusive delicacy in Wu Dynasty, saying it was only for her.
As he reached out, Su Tan’er noticed a small scrape on his hand, likely from his strenuous preparations for the performance. She gently took out her medicine box and carefully applied ointment to his wound. After a moment of hesitation, Ning Yi confessed to Su Tan’er that he had "lost" the divorce letter, claiming it was accidental and that rewriting it would be too much trouble.
He also mentioned looking for it that morning and thinking she had taken it, which made him happy for nothing. He then began to list his many uses to her, hoping to persuade her to let him stay—managing the store, keeping her happy, making her favorite shaved ice, and even remarking on his small appetite.
Before he could finish, Su Tan’er leaned in and silenced him with a kiss, then quickly turned away, pretending to engross herself in a ledger, her face flushed with shyness. Ning Yi stood frozen, utterly stunned, yet understanding her gesture, feeling a rush of overwhelming joy.
