My Fated Boy Episode 9 Recap
> My Fated Boy Recap
A flashback reveals a young Lu Zhengan being scolded by his parents after using his mother's makeup to paint his face like a cat and choosing to wear a skirt instead of jeans. His concerned parents considered taking him to a doctor, only to discover it was Lin Yang who had been dressing him up in "Sailor Moon" style, complete with the "orchid finger" gesture and the catchphrase, "I'm going to destroy you on behalf of the moon."
This led to Lin Yang being chased and disciplined by her own mother. In the present, Lu Zhengan bursts into a meeting room to find Lin Yang disheveled and Li Tian, who had been aggressive, suddenly timid. He glares at Li Tian before gently fixing Lin Yang’s hair and leading her out by the wrist, leaving their colleagues stunned and wondering if he mistook her for Li Tian.
He insists on taking her for a medical check-up, but Lin Yang dismisses it as an overreaction, asking to be left alone and reminding him of their co-rental agreement's discretion clause. Lu Zhengan quietly follows her, recalling a childhood memory where Lin Yang taught him to fight back against bullies, stating that "tolerance means surrender; only resistance can protect yourself." He asks if she fought back, but the adult Lin Yang counters that one must consider the consequences before acting.
Her thoughts are interrupted by a call from Mr. Hua, and she rushes back to the company. At the office, Lin Yang preemptively apologizes to Mr. Hua, tearfully taking responsibility for the conflict with her subordinate and offering to resign. Mr. Hua refuses her resignation and promises to handle the matter fairly, asking Li Tian to stay behind as Lin Yang leaves. Later, a distraught Li Tian cries to her sister, Li Miaomiao, terrified of Lu Zhengan's furious gaze.
Reflecting on Li Tian's history of fleeting crushes, Li Miaomiao realizes her feelings for Lu Zhengan are serious and advises her that love is about mutual attraction, not one-sided dependency, encouraging her to focus on self-improvement. Meanwhile, Yao Dan and Cao Ling encourage Lin Yang to seize the opportunity created by the incident, but Lin Yang is hesitant to appear opportunistic.
After dinner with her friends, Lin Yang finds Lu Zhengan waiting with a new motorcycle he bought specifically to drive her to and from work. She reluctantly accepts the ride. Lu Zhengan then approaches Yao Dan and Cao Ling to discuss his collaboration with Osler. He states he only cares if the project is meaningful to Lin Yang, and if so, he wants her to lead it.
He explains he can't ask her directly due to her strong pride, especially after the incident with Li Tian. He confesses that Lin Yang is not just a sister to him but his "whole world," a "little girl who never grows up" in his heart. Lu Zhengan takes Lin Yang to a lively food stall, where she happily enjoys the casual atmosphere. He reveals he has changed his mind about shunning endorsements because he now has his company to consider.
He says he wants to collaborate with someone "professional, responsible, understanding, and willing to think about him," making it clear he means Lin Yang. Flustered, she declines, but he playfully insists he won't work with anyone else, leaving her to suspect he is flirting. Later, Mr. Hua summons Lin Yang, apologizing for Li Tian's behavior and thanking her for her discretion.
Citing her capabilities and integrity, he offers her full control over the Osler project, with a promotion to project director upon completion. He assures her the decision is based on her talent, not just her connection, and reminds her that networking is a valuable skill. After a moment of consideration, Lin Yang accepts and rushes to Yunlang Music. Anticipating her arrival, Lu Zhengan has kept his manager, Ma Le, in the office.
Lin Yang enters and introduces herself as the lead representative from Ruiye Advertising for the Osler project. Ma Le resists, accusing Lu Zhengan of mixing business with personal romantic pursuits. Lu Zhengan admits it but affirms his commitment to the project. Ma Le reluctantly agrees to her proposed meeting at two o'clock the following day to finalize the contract. As Lin Yang leaves in a taxi, Lu Zhengan follows on his motorcycle.
The taxi driver misinterprets Lin Yang's amused smile as fear, speeding up to evade her "stalker," much to her frustration. Lu Zhengan eventually catches up, and they stop at a supermarket. Lin Yang fills their cart with cute, feminine items, explaining that as a single woman, she can claim they belong to a "cousin" to avoid awkward questions about men's products in her home.
When Lu Zhengan protests that an item is too "girlish," he reminds her of his status as "Party A" (the client). Lin Yang retorts that within their home, she is "always Party A," adding, "the wifey is always right." Lu Zhengan cheerfully concedes.
