A flashback to Lin Yang’s childhood shows her mother severely reprimanding her for forging her father’s signature on a failed composition, an event a young Lu Zhengan witnessed. Years later, observing Li Tian’s prolonged distraction, Li Miaomiao messages Lin Yang to arrange a meeting. At his home, Lu Zhengan, now a skilled cook, prepares dinner for Lin Yang, explaining his culinary abilities were honed while studying abroad.
After secretly switching his major to music, his parents cut off his living expenses, forcing him to rely on odd jobs like piano tutoring, street performances, and gym work to support himself. He reveals that besides being a singer, he also dreams of becoming a fitness coach. He offers to be Lin Yang’s personal trainer, but she declines, explaining that she joined a gym to make new friends and enrich her social life, a decision Lu Zhengan supports.
Meanwhile, Ma Le arrives two hours early for his meeting with Lin Yang, instructing his subordinate to project an air of confidence to compensate for their weak negotiating position. To his chagrin, Lin Yang has another appointment and asks him to wait. Lin Yang meets with Li Miaomiao, who tearfully explains that Li Tian has locked herself in her room, refusing to eat or speak, overwhelmed with guilt but too afraid to apologize.
Li Miaomiao pleads with Lin Yang to give Li Tian another chance, perhaps in a different department, as her future depends on it. She admits Li Tian's judgment was clouded by her extreme obsession with Lu Zhengan. Li Miaomiao also confesses her own past insecurities regarding Lin Yang’s close professional relationship with her husband, Hua Zong, realizing her anxieties stemmed from her own issues, not Lin Yang's fault. Li Tian waits all day for Lu Zhengan outside his music studio.
Annoyed by her presence, he leaves, and she follows his motorcycle in a taxi. Lu Zhengan meets his cousin and lawyer, Xie Nanke, who mentions that Ma Le has invited him to be the legal consultant for the new endorsement deal. Lu Zhengan initially refuses, worried about Xie Nanke interacting with Lin Yang, but relents when Xie Nanke clarifies he would only deal with the company's legal department.
Spotting Li Tian waiting outside the cafe, Lu Zhengan asks for help and escapes through a back exit. Xie Nanke then confronts Li Tian, formally warning her to cease her pursuit or face legal action. A crestfallen Li Tian promises she will no longer bother Lu Zhengan. Still unsettled by Li Miaomiao’s confession, Lin Yang is distracted during her meeting with Ma Le. Ma Le reveals the endorsement product is the "Sweet Series Lipstick."
Surprised, Lin Yang realizes Lu Zhengan is unaware and cautions Ma Le that he might not agree to promote lipstick. Ma Le remains confident, believing Lu Zhengan will consent as long as she is involved. Later, Lin Yang texts Lu Zhengan about the lipstick, but he is in a meeting with Yao Dan, as Cao Ling was too busy to attend.
He presents Yao Dan with a gift of lipstick, revealing he already knows it's the new product and promising her an unlimited supply. Lin Yang worries Lu Zhengan will refuse the deal but knows he wouldn't make things difficult if she asks. In reality, Lu Zhengan had already learned about the lipstick and, as Yao Dan noted, deliberately kept it from Lin Yang to ensure the contract was signed.
Having been advised by Yao Dan that a woman's affection often begins with guilt, Lu Zhengan decides to employ subtle tactics to win her over, tired of hiding his feelings. Lin Yang reflects on her relationship with Lu Zhengan, realizing that while she once saw him as a troublemaker, he has consistently been the one to accommodate and care for her. She concludes that she is the one who causes trouble.
Later, Lu Zhengan waits for Lin Yang at her door. She anxiously explains the lipstick promotion, noting that a public event will require him to apply lipstick on consumers. To her relief, he readily agrees, citing the prohibitive cost of breaching the contract. To familiarize him with the product, Lin Yang takes Lu Zhengan to a cosmetics counter, where a talkative male sales assistant overwhelms him.
Both Lin Yang and Yao Dan find teaching the clueless Lu Zhengan about lipstick shades to be an exasperating process. Later, Lu Zhengan learns from Cao Ling and Yao Dan that Lin Yang is at the "Yijianmei" gym. While Yao Dan supports the match, Cao Ling expresses concern that Lin Yang is "jumping into a fiery pit."
At the gym, just as Lin Yang is about to exchange WeChat information with a coach, Lu Zhengan intervenes, possessively calling her "Wifey" and telling the coach he will train her at home. He then dismisses Lin Yang as a lazy client, leaving her annoyed. Back at home, Lin Yang complains that teaching him has left her with a sore back.
Lu Zhengan offers a massage but then admits his real issue: he can't stand anyone else touching her or having her contact information. Momentarily swayed, Lin Yang quickly redirects his focus to the lesson. She demonstrates how to apply lipstick by holding his face, feeling a flutter of nerves. When it's his turn to practice, Lu Zhengan pulls her close, applies a different shade to her lips, and compliments how well the color suits her, leaving her stunned.
