My Deepest Dream Episode 27 Recap
> My Deepest Dream Recap
Tan Jiao woke up, realizing Wu Yu had secretly administered sleeping pills to her. She immediately understood that he had done so to protect her, fearing she might be hurt. However, she also logically concluded that if she could figure out Wu Yu's protective motive, the culprit could too, meaning Wu Yu was undoubtedly walking into a trap. Anxious to find him, but unaware of his location, Tan Jiao noticed Zhou Wei's seemingly random drawings.
She recognized the pattern as an anime background, confirming Zhou Wei had not lied and that the drawings represented the culprit's memories. Following this clue, Tan Jiao went to visit Chen Ningmeng in the hospital. Filled with remorse, Chen Ningmeng recounted her involvement in the anime event. She had been taking photos, and another cosplayer, Xu Jingmiao, felt overlooked compared to Ren Jie. Xu Jingmiao later discovered compromising photos of Ren Jie that Chen Ningmeng had inadvertently captured.
Xu Jingmiao paid Chen Ningmeng for these photos and published them online. Although Chen Ningmeng deleted her copies when Ren Jie later pleaded with her, Xu Jingmiao did not remove the online posts, which ultimately led to Ren Jie's suicide. Chen Ningmeng expressed deep remorse for her momentary lapse in judgment and the catastrophic consequences.
She also confirmed that the anime event took place at the theatre in the west of the city and that Ren Jie had come to her alone, without any male companion, to ask for the photos to be deleted. Tan Jiao, now aware of the theatre's significance, tried to warn Wu Yu that his confrontation with the culprit might be a trap. Before she could send her message, she received a call from an unknown number.
Meanwhile, Wu Yu and a female police officer, disguised as Tan Jiao, arrived at a designated warehouse. The masked culprit, watching via video surveillance, observed as the female officer triggered a bomb inside. The warehouse exploded, but Wu Yu quickly confirmed to Shen Shiyan that they were unharmed. Shortly after the explosion, Wu Yu received another message from the culprit stating, "The real game has just started. Come here alone."
The message specified that the culprit intended for Wu Yu to witness Tan Jiao's death, to experience the pain of losing a loved one. Wu Yu, realizing Tan Jiao was now in direct danger, immediately sought Shen Shiyan's assistance. Tan Jiao awoke in the theatre, bound to a chair. The masked man revealed his twisted plan to make Wu Yu watch her die. Tan Jiao, however, launched into a tirade, debunking his fabricated romance.
She accused him of being a pathetic, self-absorbed coward who had unrequited feelings for Ren Jie, daring only to interact with her through the anonymity of the internet. She asserted he was no lover but an accomplice in Ren Jie's death, no different from the online trolls who despised her.
Tan Jiao provocatively stated that Ren Jie might not have even committed suicide but was killed by him, and that he, hiding behind the keyboard, was utterly undeserving of avenging her. Enraged, the masked man lunged at Tan Jiao, but then abruptly paused, realizing her intention was to provoke him into killing her, thereby saving Wu Yu from risking his life. The masked man calmed, affirming his constant thoughts of Ren Jie and denying any intent to harm her.
He revealed that the repeated changes in the experiences of Yan Yuan and Professor Chen's family had led him to understand that someone, presumably Tan Jiao and Wu Yu, possessed knowledge of his future actions and was altering history. He declared his resolve to prevent them from thwarting his plans. He also stated that Wu Miao, like Ren Jie, was pure, and he aimed to "save" them from a corrupt world.
He then unbound Tan Jiao and, in a fit of madness, briefly danced with the empty chair. Tan Jiao attempted to escape but stopped when she saw Wu Miao, unconscious and tied to a chair in the audience. She obediently returned to her seat as the culprit motioned. When Wu Yu finally arrived at the theatre, he found the auditorium filled with masked figures, making it impossible to identify the true culprit.
Tan Jiao and Wu Miao were tied to chairs on opposite ends of the stage. Wu Yu wore a device to communicate with Shen Shiyan, who, along with the police, had surrounded the building. The theatre doors, however, were sealed with encrypted mechanical locks, requiring time for the police to break through. The masked culprit then unveiled the devices around Tan Jiao and Wu Miao's necks: thin bands equipped with small motors, precise compound gears, and steel wires.
He explained that once activated, these devices would relentlessly tighten until they decapitated the victims, and no one could stop them. Shen Shiyan, receiving this information, immediately requested expert assistance to understand and disarm the devices. Meanwhile, the cybercrime unit successfully identified the culprit as Duan Yunying, known online as Captain Jack Sparrow. The culprit presented Wu Yu with a harrowing choice: he had one key and a limited countdown.
He could use the key to save either Tan Jiao or Wu Miao, but saving one would instantly activate the device on the other. If he chose to do nothing, both devices would activate simultaneously. He mocked Wu Yu, telling him that even powerful hydraulic scissors would take ten minutes to cut through the devices, rendering them useless. Wu Yu rushed onto the stage and tore the tape from Tan Jiao's mouth.
Tan Jiao, despite her own peril, implored him to save Wu Miao, reminding him that their entire journey through time was to protect his sister. She reassured him, claiming she had foreseen their future, where all three of them were safe, and promised to wait for him on "the island." Wu Yu was torn. With only thirty seconds remaining, he shared a tender kiss with Tan Jiao, a flood of their shared memories passing through his mind.
Ultimately, he chose to save Wu Miao. After successfully saving his sister, Wu Yu immediately ran back to Tan Jiao, whose device was rapidly tightening. He desperately tried to pry open the contracting mechanism with his bare hands, his fingers bleeding from the strain. At that moment, Shen Shiyan and the police burst into the theatre, rushing to their aid.
