Ling Xunxun and Cheng Li spent a restless night, and the next morning, an accidental touch made the atmosphere between them awkward once more. Ling Xunxun became so flustered she struggled to walk properly. Seeking to escape the tension, she became flustered and fled. The next day marked Assistant Wang's official last day. He tried to invite his colleagues out for dinner, but everyone quickly left the office.
He then sought out Ling Xunxun, only to find she already had plans. Ling Xunxun, however, told him Cheng Li wanted him to deliver two bottles of red wine to a specific address. Assistant Wang rushed over, expecting to find Cheng Li alone, but instead discovered Ling Xunxun and other colleagues had gathered for a surprise farewell party for him, with Jin Hui also in attendance.
As Ling Xunxun watched Cheng Li, Jin Hui, and Assistant Wang singing together, a sudden wave of sadness washed over her, feeling as though her youth was slipping away. Later, a very drunk Assistant Wang spoke frankly to Cheng Li, expressing his disdain for Cheng Li's indecisiveness in matters of the heart and bluntly asking if he liked "her," implying Ling Xunxun or Jin Hui. Jin Hui, sensing the awkwardness, quickly pulled Assistant Wang away.
After making sure Jin Hui was settled, Assistant Wang prepared to leave, but not before advising her that she had many other choices in life and should seek someone who would love her more than she loved them. Jin Hui held onto his hand, not wanting him to go, and Assistant Wang eventually fell asleep by her side. Separately, it was revealed that Cheng Li had carried Ling Xunxun home the previous night.
He admonished her about her low alcohol tolerance, telling her not to drink with other men if he wasn't there. Elsewhere, Bao Xiaojing and Mike woke up in the same bed, relieved to find their clothes undisturbed, but still got into a fight, exchanging insults about each other's looks. The atmosphere at a subsequent company meeting was tense. Cheng Li silently smiled upon seeing the injuries on Bao Xiaojing and Mike's faces.
Ling Xunxun found an excuse to escape by offering to order lunch. As she left, she told Bao Xiaojing to go to the conference room later and add water to interrupt the heated discussion. Ling Xunxun returned with food from both McDonald's and KFC, noting that their proximity to each other was an advantage.
This sparked a new idea in Cheng Li: to implement a "bundling sales" strategy for Inglemirepharm and their new Yumeiling brand, opening new Yumeiling counters within every mall where Inglemirepharm stores were already remodeling. Ling Xunxun expressed her doubts to Cheng Li, pointing out that Inglemirepharm would likely object to their brand openly leveraging its popularity, and that Yumeiling, as a new brand, might not meet the standards of larger malls.
Cheng Li insisted she try, wanting to train her to handle tasks independently, and reminded her that her friendship with Hui Yiwang was an advantage. He added, half-joking, that if Hui Yiwang tried anything, he would beat him up. He then instructed Ling Xunxun to discuss this strategy with Hui Yiwang. Ling Xunxun met with Hui Yiwang, employing her "beauty trap" strategy, though it proved ineffective as Hui Yiwang flatly refused, citing that his headquarters would never agree.
After Ling Xunxun left, Hui Yiwang received anonymous photos of their meeting. Ling Xunxun then went to the basketball court to report back to Cheng Li. She expressed her confusion about Cheng Li's deep emotional attachment to the old Yumeiling cosmetics brand. Cheng Li's teammates teased Ling Xunxun, calling her his girlfriend, which she quickly denied, also expressing annoyance at being called "older."
Cheng Li challenged Ling Xunxun to a shooting contest, offering to grant her two requests if he lost (not to ask her to communicate with Hui Yiwang and to stop joking about their relationship), but only one of his requests if she lost. Ling Xunxun, despite having been nicknamed "Akagi Haruko" in the past, hadn't played in ten years. Cheng Li won the game, but declared it a tie given her long break from basketball.
He then proposed they reintroduce themselves: he as Cheng Li, handsome and very rich; she as Ling Xunxun, once admired by many, now divorced and jobless. He then offered her a job opening, which she said she'd consider if the pay was good. Then, pulling her close, he directly confessed, "I am lacking a girlfriend. Are you willing to take it?" Startled and dizzy, Ling Xunxun quickly used a ringing phone as an excuse to flee.
Cheng Li pursued her, cornering her against a wall and asking if she had feelings for him, pressing closer. Ling Xunxun, overwhelmed, pushed him away and ran home, locking herself in her room and ignoring his calls, consumed by self-doubt. Meanwhile, Inglemirepharm's headquarters dispatched Linda to investigate, having received photos suggesting improper conduct between Hui Yiwang and Cheng Li's company regarding their cooperation.
Just then, Cheng Li arrived and declared Ling Xunxun was his girlfriend, asserting that the photos were merely of him and his girlfriend. Lawyer Zhou Quan, present at the meeting, suggested a strategy for Ling Xunxun to admit she was Cheng Li's girlfriend, then claim she later fell for Hui Yiwang, leading to Cheng Li firing her. This, Zhou Quan argued, would protect both companies.
However, Hui Yiwang revealed that Peter had sent the photos, and Cheng Li played an audio recording of Peter sexually harassing Ling Xunxun, effectively discrediting Peter and ending the investigation. Cheng Li then nonchalantly led Ling Xunxun out of the meeting, publicly kissing her to stake his claim and warn everyone not to spread rumors about his girlfriend.
Later, Zhou Quan admitted to Ling Xunxun that she had sent the audio recording to Hui Yiwang after accidentally discovering it on Ling Xunxun's laptop. Ling Xunxun was furious, realizing that Cheng Li, Zhou Quan, and Hui Yiwang had seemingly orchestrated the situation to force her into acknowledging her relationship with Cheng Li. Cheng Li had severely beaten Peter, forcing him to record a video apologizing to Ling Xunxun for his past harassment.
Back at home, Cheng Li called Ling Xunxun his "girlfriend" and asked her to play the apology video for him. Ling Xunxun watched, amused by Peter's bruised face and forced words, and the two playfully struggled over the remote control, falling onto the sofa together.
