Qiqi arrived at the appointed place, but instead of Lv Ao, she found Lv Che waiting for her. Lv Che was worried upon hearing that Lady Li had harmed Qiqi and wanted to check her injuries, but Qiqi stepped back, avoiding his outstretched hand. Lv Che explained that he had unavoidable reasons and hoped Qiqi could understand. However, Qiqi, already disappointed in him, retorted that the King's position is noble and any woman would admire him.

Lv Che, seeing this, refused to believe that Qiqi was like others, merely someone who admired power and position. Remembering Qiqi's miraculous self-healing ability, Lv Ao grew suspicious. That night, Qiqi sat outside, lost in thought. Luo Jiuchen appeared before her, warning her that her constitution was special and should not be abused. Qiqi asked Lian Qiao about Luo Jiuchen's background.

Lian Qiao described him as a legendary figure, a famous astrologer proficient in all languages, specially recruited by the late king into the royal palace, who even built the Armillary Pavilion for him. Hearing that the Armillary Pavilion contained books from all over the world, Qiqi thought that it might also contain books written in the Wu language. Qiqi sneaked into the Armillary Pavilion, which seemed to be full of traps and unpredictable dangers.

While rummaging through a pile of books, she found one with vulgar content, immediately tossing it back but accidentally dropping a page. Later, Qiqi played hide-and-seek with her maids in her room, unexpectedly touching Lv Ao while blindfolded. Lv Ao said that the day before the fast day was for sitting meditation, so he dismissed the maids, leaving the two of them alone.

Lv Ao pretended to fall asleep, and Qiqi, after calling him several times without a response, quietly slipped out the window. During her escape, Qiqi encountered Luo Jiuchen and borrowed his straw hat to disguise herself as a fisherman, thus evading a group of pursuing eunuchs. Qiqi returned to her room with a fish, ready to show off her culinary skills.

However, her cooking skills were poor, leaving her face covered in soot and causing the visiting Lv Ao and Yinzi to laugh. General Ling Wanshan returned triumphantly, and the King prepared a banquet. General Ling suggested that the feast be held at Consort Ling's residence. Secretly, Lv Ao thought that General Ling was too conceited and wanted to take back his military power. When Lv Ao visited Consort Ling, he discovered that General Ling was unwell and unable to attend.

Consort Ling, pretending to be drunk, clung to Lv Ao, not letting him leave, and even drugged his wine. In a daze, Lv Ao mistook Consort Ling for Qiqi, but he managed to recognize her in time and pushed her away. Lv Ao went to Qiqi's room and found it filled with candles. Lv Ao and Qiqi kissed passionately in the candlelit chamber, finally coming together after many hardships. The next morning, Lv Ao gazed lovingly at Qiqi.

Qiqi told Lv Ao that she initially approached him because she felt a connection between them. Now that she had some clues, she would tell him once she figured it out, and he didn't seem angry. Soon after, news came that the King had fallen into a coma after returning from Ranxi Court in the morning. Doctors had looked into all kinds of difficult illnesses but still couldn't find out what was wrong with him.

Consort Ling believed that Qiqi had used witchcraft on the King and ordered a search of her residence, where they found a Gu bug. Consort Ling ordered Qiqi to be taken to Yixuan Yard for questioning and sent the bug to the doctors to formulate an antidote. Lv Che rushed to see his mother, the Dowager Consort, asking her to save Qiqi. However, the Dowager Consort pretended to be unaware, saying that Qiqi had committed the serious crime of using witchcraft to harm the King and that she could not protect her.
