> My Dear Brothers Recap

Hou Chi was undergoing a trial where he was meant to cultivate the ninth level of Yuhua Nine Heavens. He had not yet achieved it, but while remembering his desire to protect his younger sister, he finally understood the true meaning of guardianship. This allowed him to successfully cultivate the "Heart of Guardian," and the ninth level was achieved. His masters were pleased with his progress, with one noting, "Congratulations, Sect Leader! Hou Chi's spiritual power is complete."

Hou Chi himself realized, "Did I cultivate the Heart of Guardian?" He then quickly concluded his trial and, after bidding farewell to his masters, rushed to Shi Xia's aid. Meanwhile, Shi Xia was by the river, practicing skipping stones, a technique her elder brother, Shi Dong, had taught her. Qing Feng approached, sensing Shi Xia was preoccupied and playfully accused her of being in love.

Shi Xia initially denied it, but after Qing Feng pressed, referencing a portrait Shi Xia had shown her, Shi Xia admitted, "That's my elder brother. We lost each other." Shi Xia then demonstrated the stone skipping, explaining the belief that if one achieves five skips, their wish will come true, and she wished to find her brother. Hidden nearby, Hou Chi subtly used his spiritual power to help Shi Xia's stone make multiple skips.

Qing Feng then confided in Shi Xia that she also had an elder brother who had passed away, and she was learning magic to avenge him. Observing their conversation, Hou Chi felt a strange, difficult-to-explain emotion, pondering, "My younger sister helped me cultivate the Heart of Guardian. I should be happy. Why do I have such a difficult feeling?" Back at the sect, Yi Yaogua was greatly disappointed by Hou Chi's prior actions.

He furiously ordered Lin Kui to burn a portrait of Hou Chi, but then, with a hint of reluctance, instructed him to burn it outside so he wouldn't have to witness it. Yi Yaogua then retrieved the Qiling Mirror, an artifact capable of projecting memories. He gathered a crowd and dramatically recounted how he and Lin Kui had scaled the walls of Hou Chi's yard to witness Hou Chi and Shi Xia kissing.

Qing Feng, overhearing this, quickly informed Shi Xia, warning her that Yi Yaogua intended to use the Qiling Mirror to publicly display the memory. Shi Xia, refusing to let Yi Yaogua spread such falsehoods unchallenged, confronted him, but in doing so, she put herself in a more precarious position. As Yi Yaogua activated the Qiling Mirror, projecting the controversial scene for all to see, Hou Chi arrived, quickly followed by Yuan Zhao and other masters, who witnessed the embarrassing incident.

In the Great Hall, Yuan Zhao angrily addressed the situation, scolding Hou Chi, Yi Yaogua, and Shi Xia. He noted that while cotton candy might be unsuitable for cultivators, it wasn't a "fault for her" since Shi Xia wasn't an immortal. Yi Yaogua then declared that Shi Xia had seduced Hou Chi.

Shi Xia attempted to explain that the kiss was an accident caused by her slipping, even asking Yi Yaogua to play back the memory further, but Yi Yaogua refused, claiming the mirror only shows the memory itself and accusing Shi Xia of being manipulative. Hou Chi stepped forward, accepting responsibility for his "lack of discipline," acknowledging that he "should correct my greed immediately," but added that he had "been thinking of it."

Yuan Zhao, incensed by the scandal and the disruption to sect rules, lashed out with a powerful strike, which hit Shi Xia. The impact caused the doll head ornament on her head to fall off, revealing her true identity as a woman. The revelation shocked everyone, as the Yuhua Sect strictly forbade women.

Yuan Zhao, recalling that a woman had been previously found by a Fa Die, accused Shi Xia of fooling the Truth Spring and defiling the Yuhua Great Hall with her female aura. Hou Chi immediately took responsibility, stating, "Master, it was this disciple who decided to conceal her female identity. It's not her fault."

Yuan Zhao, furious at Hou Chi for disregarding two centuries of teachings, reminded him of the sect's core tenets: "Yuhua Sect was founded on integrity, its cultivation methods are pure Yang. No women are allowed within this sect." Yuan Zhao then ordered Shi Xia to be taken away for the "fire whip" punishment as per sect rules, a fate that would surely kill a mortal.

Hou Chi quickly interceded, declaring, "Master, Shi Xia has no spiritual roots so she can't bear it. This disciple is willing to take her punishment." As guards moved to seize Shi Xia, she struggled, crying, "Let me go! I won't go there!" Hou Chi defiantly stepped between them, firmly pulling her hand and declared to Yuan Zhao and the entire assembly, "She's my younger sister."

This astonishing declaration caused a stir among the disciples, some supporting Hou Chi's loyalty, others condemning his actions. Amidst the chaos, the Qiling Mirror displayed another image: the Spirit Tree was now sprouting. Disciples murmured, wondering if it was because of Shi Xia, despite her lack of spiritual roots. Bi Hong then stepped forward to plead for Shi Xia, highlighting her successful efforts in saving the Spirit Tree, stating, "I saw it with my own eyes.

Shi Xia saved the Spirit Tree. She has rendered a great service to Yuhua Sect." Still unconvinced and suspicious, Yuan Zhao silenced everyone and ordered Lin Kui to search Shi Xia's room for anything suspicious. Lin Kui returned with a "Missing Person" poster from Shi Xia's bag, depicting a man named Shi Dong. Yuan Zhao immediately recognized the portrait, asking, "Isn't this the Devil Lord?"

Disciples then murmured, connecting Shi Xia's elder brother to the Devil Lord and accusing Shi Xia of being a spy for the Devil Sect. Yi Yaogua further fueled the accusations, warning Hou Chi not to be "fooled by her." Shi Xia, confused and distressed, insisted, "I. . . I don't even know who Devil Lord is," and pleaded with Qing Feng to believe her.

Hou Chi tried to explain that there must be a misunderstanding, but Yuan Zhao cut him off, asserting his long-held suspicion that a spy had helped the Devil Lord infiltrate the sect, concluding that Shi Xia was that "demoness." Hou Chi made a final attempt to defend Shi Xia, pointing out her consistent good behavior and her role in reviving the Spirit Tree.

Yuan Zhao, growing increasingly enraged by Hou Chi's persistent defiance, declared that his two centuries of effort had been in vain and prepared to strike Shi Xia with his fire whip. Hou Chi immediately threw himself in front of Shi Xia, shielding her from the blow. He reiterated, "Master, it's my fault. Please punish me as you like. My younger sister is in trouble. I will never stand idly by." Bi Hong quickly knelt, begging Yuan Zhao for mercy.

The other masters also looked on with pleas in their eyes. Yuan Zhao, though he refrained from striking with the fire whip, ordered Shi Xia to be imprisoned in the Commandment Hall. As for Hou Chi, since he insisted on taking her punishment, Yuan Zhao commanded that he be taken away to be taught a lesson. Shi Xia was dragged away, desperately calling out for Hou Chi.
