Seeing his son's displeasure, he explained the importance of empathy, admitting his own image fell short and expressing a desire to improve himself to be worthy of Gao Zhan's mother, Madam Shi.
He revealed his serious intentions to pursue a relationship with her and asked his son for recommendations for profound films to enhance his character, comically misinterpreting Dapeng's suggestion of "Naruto" as a lesson in endurance. His father then ended the conversation to take a call with Mr. Wu. On the bus, the students played games. Upon arrival, their teacher, Mr. Chen, announced that everyone would have individual labor tasks that would be graded.
Xiong Shuai and Ni Dapeng were assigned to fertilize the fields. Meanwhile, Xu Jingjing found Kang Jiawei secretly trying to record a video, which he claimed was rap practice. Sensing his troubled mood, Xu Jingjing proposed a task swap: she would give her potato-harvesting duty to Kang Jiawei, allowing him to work with Xujingjing.
In return, Xu Jingjing would take on the chicken-rearing task, which would also give her an opportunity to apologize to Gao Zhan, who was handling the dogs nearby. Kang Jiawei wanted to use the video to show his mother that he and his father were living well without her. Xu Jingjing offered to help film by a picturesque lake. As she recorded, Kang Jiawei unleashed his raw emotions, questioning his mother about whether leaving them had brought her happiness. Deeply moved, Kang Jiawei made a wish. Overwhelmed, Kang Jiawei knew Xu Jingjing had orchestrated the surprise. He placed a stack of documents, including an Equity Transfer Agreement, on the table as proof of his father's commitment before leaving. Kang Jiawei, who had overheard, told Gao Zhan that Ni Dapeng's father wasn't a bad person. He then gently confronted Gao Zhan, suggesting his lingering anger was not at Xu Jingjing, but at himself for his shame over visiting the matchmaking agency, acknowledging that Gao Zhan knew he was the one in the wrong.
In the dance competition, Xujingjing's votes kept her in second place, far behind a popular vlogger. Kang Jiawei offered to help rally votes, but Xujingjing rejected any form of cheating. She then noticed he was wearing the backpack from Xu Jingjing, not the one she had given him. He explained that hers was a limited edition that he was carefully "treasuring."
