Just as they were cornered, Bo Yan returned, unexpectedly intervening and single-handedly fending off Wan Yuanming's men. When Wan Yuanming demanded to know his identity, Shangguan's father, Lian Li, and Hongdou all declared, "He is Chu Ye!" and "He's our son-in-law!" cementing Bo Yan's supposed identity. Shangguan's father then proposed that Bo Yan stay permanently as Chu Ye to deter future harassment. Shangguan Ya, hesitant to force him, was interrupted by her grandmother, who comically wished for "babies soon."
To everyone's surprise, Bo Yan agreed to stay, but on three conditions: first, all prior debts between them must be canceled; second, Shangguan Ya must "stop being unreasonable" towards him; and third, she must help him discover his true identity. Shangguan Ya readily accepted. Later, Xu Yunchuan, delighted to finally arrive in Yueyang City, went directly to Top Matchmaker to find Shangguan Ya.
