Finding Fang Zhiyou brooding alone on his balcony, Xu Yiren approached him. He admitted it was the only place he could escape from being himself. Noticing he hadn't eaten, Xu Yiren brought him food and urged him not to carry his burdens alone, gently criticizing his unwillingness to explain the situation with Li Zhe. Fang Zhiyou dismissed the idea, stating that no explanation could undo the tragedy that befell Li Zhe's family.
Reaffirming her trust in him, Xu Yiren insisted it wasn't his fault and reminded him that the past was over. She pledged to stand by him as both a friend and an assistant, encouraging him to eat and gather strength for the fight ahead. At the office, Liu Tianyang assigned several small projects to the team, telling intern Gu Bo to stick to his basic duties for now.
That evening, Xu Yiren got permission from Fang Zhiyou to skip overtime for personal matters. However, she and Sun Ziyang were secretly working in the office late at night, building a handcrafted architectural model. Fang Zhiyou, also working late, discovered them. Xu Yiren confessed they were discreetly trying the manual model-making approach he had previously rejected. Fang Zhiyou examined their work, complimenting the details but pointing out a fundamental flaw: their resort design lacked benches for tourists.
While they worked on improving it, Xu Yiren's hand got stuck to the model with superglue. While driving Xu Yiren home, she struggled to unfasten her seatbelt. Unlike a previous, similar incident, Fang Zhiyou leaned over and unbuckled it for her. He asked if she was genuinely interested in learning model-making. She confirmed, explaining her passion had grown since the Huaxing project, despite her lack of formal training.
Retracting his earlier dismissal of handcrafted models, Fang Zhiyou encouraged her and Sun Ziyang to pursue it, assuring her that following a passion is never a waste of time, as the process itself brings joy. Back at her new home in his apartment, Fang Zhiyou used laundry detergent to dissolve the glue on her hand, giving a scientific explanation for the chemical reaction. His sister, Shiyu, playfully chided him for being unromantic.
Feeling useless at work, Gu Bo complained to Fang Zhiyou, who bluntly told him that he was more of a hindrance than a help and was only hired because his father was a shareholder. Meanwhile, to focus on the model, Xu Yiren called her driving instructor to cancel her lesson, falsely claiming her hand was injured. She was unaware that Li Zhe had asked the instructor to check on her.
Soon after, a bouquet arrived at the office for Xu Yiren with a card from Li Zhe wishing her a speedy recovery. He Yuwen saw the flowers and warned Xu Yiren against being too public with her relationships at work. Xu Yiren clarified they weren't dating, which prompted He Yuwen to ask what she knew about Li Zhe and Fang Zhiyou's past.
Xu Yiren revealed that Fang Zhiyou had told her they were once close friends who had a falling out. This information visibly annoyed He Yuwen, as Fang Zhiyou had previously dismissed her own inquiries about the past as irrelevant. Moments later, Li Zhe appeared at the company entrance to see Xu Yiren. An enraged Fang Zhiyou spotted them, pulled Xu Yiren back inside, and confronted Li Zhe, warning him not to poach his staff.
Away from Li Zhe, Xu Yiren argued with Fang Zhiyou, asserting that she had no obligation to explain who she met or whose flowers she accepted. Overwhelmed by emotion, Fang Zhiyou blurted out, "I'm jealous." Instantly flustered by his own confession, he awkwardly retreated. Both Fang Zhiyou and Xu Yiren were left distracted and unable to focus. As soon as the workday ended, Xu Yiren left and texted Fang Zhiyou that she would be having dinner at Xia Di's house.
However, upon arriving, she found Xia Di comforting Gu Bo, who was dejected about his situation at work. Not wanting to be a third wheel, Xu Yiren left to walk alone.
