Kunlun and the woman walked to the outskirts. Kunlun said that the only one in his heart was the Heavenly Maiden. He was redeeming the woman’s freedom only to support the Heavenly Maiden and had no romantic interest in her. Unexpectedly, the woman turned out to be a demon and tried to take Kunlun’s spirit. Kunlun was terrified. Lu Yao appeared, and Kunlun was thrilled, feeling that the Heavenly Maiden really was effective.

The woman said she needed these people’s spirits for the sake of her husband and told Lu Yao not to meddle. Lu Yao fought her. Realizing she was losing, the woman fled. Jinxiu prepared food for Mu Xian. Mu Xian asked who made it. Jinxiu said she already knew and didn’t need to ask. Mu Xian asked if Jinxiu often cooked for others. Jinxiu said if he did, the food wouldn’t have turned out like this.

Kunlun and Lu Yao arrived. Lu Yao recognized Mu Xian. Kunlun introduced her as his sister-in-law. Lu Yao commented that Mu Xian was like the red tea in this garden—bold and reckless. Mu Xian replied that she didn’t dare to be reckless and was just an ordinary demon catcher. After returning, Lu Yao contacted the Divine Empress, who asked what she had been doing. Lu Yao said she had been living as a mortal in the human world.

At first, she had been in a daze, but she had recently regained her memory and was now staying at Kunlun’s residence. The Divine Empress said that this time the two Celestial Monarch Stars would undergo their tribulations in Wuzhang Kingdom, because a great calamity was coming. Whoever handled it best would ignite their Celestial Monarch Star. She told Lu Yao to make sure Kunlun completed the task first. The Divine Empress asked if Lu Yao had seen Jinxiu.

Lu Yao said that in this lifetime, Jinxiu and Kunlun were cousins. Kunlun acknowledged Lu Yao as his master. When the two went out, Lu Yao felt the butcher was suspicious. His every strike was lethal, and many people in the city had recently contracted a strange illness. The well and the butcher shop were nearby. Kunlun didn’t see anything unusual and thought Lu Yao might be overthinking it. Lu Yao told him to study demon-catching properly.

Mu Xian and Jinxiu went to the place where Kunlun had been the day before, but it had already been sealed off due to an attack on the prime minister’s son. Mu Xian and Jinxiu went to a shop. Mu Xian looked at a sword. Jinxiu asked if she liked it and said he would buy it for her. Mu Xian said she didn’t like it. Jinxiu said that if she didn’t choose, he would just buy them all.

Mu Xian remembered a scene in Shuixian’s illusion, when Hongning bought rouge—Jinxiu had said the same thing then. Mu Xian said she didn’t like it and asked Jinxiu: if he had to choose between the people inside the city and those outside, what would he choose? Jinxiu didn’t answer. Mu Xian walked away. Jinxiu didn’t understand why she got upset so suddenly. Jinxiu bought the sword for Mu Xian and had Kunlun deliver it.

Kunlun brought it to Mu Xian and said it wasn’t easy for an iron tree to bloom—he still didn’t know how it would bloom. Bai Cha came to find Mu Xian and gave her the inner core of a thousand-year snake demon. Mu Xian said Bai Cha had gotten hurt for her. Bai Cha said he was fine and told her not to forget to take revenge.

Mu Xian promised she wouldn’t—for everyone who had hurt her, she would make them pay. Kunlun and Jinxiu were practicing archery. Jinxiu hit the target every time, while Kunlun was not convinced. One of his arrows nearly hit Mu Xian, but luckily Jinxiu knocked it away in time. The aunts prepared clothes for Kunlun and Lu Yao. Kunlun was very pleased and asked if they had also prepared some for Mu Xian and Jinxiu. The aunts said they had.

Kunlun told someone to deliver them and to tell each that the other had prepared the gift. Jinxiu thought Mu Xian had picked it for him and was very happy. That evening, the four of them went out together. There was a game where one could win prizes by shooting arrows. Mu Xian and Jinxiu were both skilled, leaving Kunlun with no chance at all.
