He Zhengyu angrily accused Jialan of sharing his WeChat contact with Chen Kexin, which led to his harassment. He then confronted Jialan about her relationship with Sun Defeng, his partner at Fengyu Law Firm, and demanded to know how she had obtained his personal information.
Jialan denied knowing Sun Defeng and insisted He Zhengyu had inadvertently revealed the information himself. As their argument escalated, Manman intervened, telling He Zhengyu the shop was closing and asking him to leave. In 2022, He Zhengyu observed Chen Jialan conducting a street interview with a young girl. He was captivated by Jialan's gentle and professional demeanor. After the interview, He Zhengyu approached Jialan, who mistook him for his past self.
She told him she had coincidentally witnessed Chen Kexin and Wu Anwen meeting, though she did not know what they discussed. This led He Zhengyu to determine that Wu Anwen required further investigation. Later that night, at 10:06 PM, the He Zhengyu from 2022 appeared in Chen Jialan's apartment in 2021. He led her to the back balcony, revealing that the balcony was a portal to 2021, just as the front door led to 2022.
Jialan was thrilled, realizing they could use this to investigate the past and save Jirong. He Zhengyu’s primary concern was seeing Jirong, who was still alive in 2021, and they immediately left to visit her. Upon seeing Jirong, an emotional He Zhengyu embraced her, urging her to take good care of herself. That night, Jialan rushed home and went to the back balcony, where He Zhengyu was waiting. Distressed from her day, she directly asked him about his true feelings for her. He Zhengyu responded by kissing her, but she pushed him away and demanded a verbal answer. He told her about his visit to her company, revealing that in the 2022 he had seen, she was Mu Shiming's girlfriend.
Jialan vehemently denied this, reiterating that she only saw Mu Shiming as a senior and an idol. He Zhengyu logically pointed out that Mu Shiming had the "perfect timing and place" to win her over. Jialan, while admitting his analysis was plausible, concluded that due to the butterfly effect, the future he witnessed was not set in stone.
