With midterm exams fast approaching, while some students remained calm, others like Mi Fen and Monkey were incredibly anxious. To ease Mi Fen's worries, Jian Dan meticulously compiled study notes, assuring her that if she mastered these points, she would pass. That evening, everyone gathered in the library to study diligently. Yuan Sen patiently helped Mi Fen, illustrating answers in a comic format to make them easier to understand.

Monkey expressed surprise at how much Yuan Sen was speaking, prompting Yuan Sen to find him noisy and take Mi Fen to study in a quieter spot. Observing Jian Dan's continued coolness toward him, Han Yansheng seized the opportunity to offer to buy everyone drinks, pointedly asking Jian Dan to accompany him. Gu Entong, who had just been helped by Han Yansheng with a math problem and praised him profusely, felt a pang of disappointment.

Shi, noticing her mood, attempted to cheer her up by folding an "ugly-cute" penguin. Earlier, Gu Entong and Shi had been discussing their preferences in music and movies, with Shi consistently echoing Gu Entong's choices, which Gu Entong found unconvincing. Instead of heading to the vending machine for drinks, Han Yansheng led Jian Dan to a bookshelf, claiming he needed help finding a book for a paper about mathematicians, specifically female mathematicians.

Jian Dan immediately recommended "Hypatia," enthusiastically recounting the story of the ancient Greek female mathematician. She began to mention that she and her pen pal had connected through this very book when suddenly, the library lights went out. In the ensuing darkness, Mi Fen and Yuan Sen were terrified; Mi Fen worried Yuan Sen might abandon her. Gu Entong, startled by the power cut, involuntarily embraced the nearby Shi, accidentally pulling off a button from his cuff.

Shi quickly called security for assistance and used his phone's flashlight, which calmed Gu Entong. Meanwhile, Han Yansheng pressed Jian Dan to tell him more about her pen pal. Jian Dan described her cherished pen pal, lamenting that she couldn't make out the last two digits of the phone number he'd left in the "Hypatia" book. Han Yansheng spontaneously supplied the numbers, "one, three." Skeptical but hopeful, Jian Dan dialed, and to her astonishment, Han Yansheng's phone rang.

Jian Dan finally realized that the pen pal she had been diligently searching for was Han Yansheng all along. Just then, the power was restored, bathing the library in light once more. Han Yansheng looked at Jian Dan seriously, expressing how lucky he felt to discover she was his pen pal. Though Jian Dan remained silent, her joy was evident. The next day, a weekend, Han Yansheng woke everyone up at 8 AM, insisting they study for midterms.

Monkey and Shi grumbled, complaining about his "cruelty" on a weekend, but Han Yansheng argued that they would regret it when they failed. Han Yansheng then received a phone call from a shoe store, informing him that the pair of women's climbing shoes he had ordered had arrived. He had ordered them after noticing Jian Dan's admiration for them during a previous outing. He told his roommates they could have the day off and left to pick them up.

As Han Yansheng returned to campus with the shoe box, he encountered an elderly woman, walking with difficulty, whose health examination report had blown away. Noticing her large bag and inability to catch the report, Han Yansheng immediately offered his help. He learned she was visiting her granddaughter, a psychology student at the university, and offered to carry her luggage to the girls' dormitory, guiding her through the large campus.

Along the way, the grandmother spoke effusively about her granddaughter, describing her as pretty, with a "round face, round lips," and an excellent swimmer, even mentioning that her granddaughter had joined the Swimming Club and praised its president for his care. Han Yansheng, surprised, asked if her granddaughter was Jian Dan, at which point Jian Dan, having been informed by the director of her grandmother's early arrival, rushed downstairs to greet them.

The grandmother, delighted to find that Han Yansheng was the swimming club president Jian Dan had spoken so highly of, greeted him warmly and started asking him many questions. Han Yansheng, excusing himself as having other plans, moved to leave. Jian Dan, assuming he was going to deliver the shoes to Gu Entong, also urged him to go. However, Han Yansheng unexpectedly handed the shoe box directly to Jian Dan, clarifying they were for her.

The grandmother, who had earlier warned against giving shoes as a gift to a girlfriend, immediately changed her tune, declaring it a wonderful gesture, signifying a desire to walk through life together. Later, everyone gathered for lunch. Jian Dan introduced Mi Fen to her grandmother, who complimented Mi Fen as Jian Dan's best friend. Monkey and Shi also joined, introducing themselves. Grandma praised Monkey for being "smart and lovable like the Monkey King." Han Yansheng also sat with them.

During the meal, a playful argument erupted between Jian Dan and Han Yansheng regarding Han Yansheng's "busy" schedule and Jian Dan's refusal to let him pick her up after her injury. Han Yansheng explained he was with Gu Entong to fix her laptop and stopped by a dessert shop while waiting. He questioned how Jian Dan knew and if that's why she refused his help, which Jian Dan vehemently denied.

Monkey and Mi Fen commented on their ongoing "beef" since the start of school. Grandma interrupted their squabble, suggesting they all take a group photo. Monkey volunteered to take the picture, with Shi offering to manage the lighting, and Grandma insisted Han Yansheng join. After the photo was shared on social media, students buzzed with comments, interpreting it as Han Yansheng meeting Jian Dan's family.

Gu Entong saw the photo and felt a surge of frustration and anger, lamenting the "Tong-Yan ship" (Gu Entong and Han Yansheng) was sinking and endorsing the "Sheng-Dan ship" (Han Yansheng and Jian Dan). As the grandmother prepared to leave, Han Yansheng discretely pulled her aside. He expressed concern, revealing that he had seen her medical report, which indicated she had severe heart disease, and urged her to take her medication on time.

The grandmother confirmed she had come to the city for medical treatment and pleaded with Han Yansheng to keep her illness a secret from Jian Dan, fearing it would distract her from her studies. She also asked him to take good care of Jian Dan. Han Yansheng promised to keep her secret. After the grandmother departed, Jian Dan confronted Han Yansheng, demanding to know what he and her grandmother had discussed.

He teasingly claimed it was a secret, and when pressed, jokingly said her grandmother wanted him to be her grandson-in-law to "keep an eye on her." Jian Dan retorted that she didn't need his supervision. Soon after, Gu Entong sent a message to Jian Dan, requesting to meet because she had something to ask her.
