Guan Qianya called, demanding Jiang Kele answer the phone to prove her innocence. Jiang Kele, under duress, answered, pretending the signal was bad. Guan Qianya pressed, asking why Jiang Kele wasn't home. Jiang Kele, however, deflected by asking Guan Qianya if she knew her workplace, asserting she had never revealed it to her. Guan Qianya became suspicious, thinking Jiang Kele was playing "Truth or Dare" and asked to speak to the person beside her.
Lei Na took the phone and handed it to Xu Guanghan. Lowering his voice, Xu Guanghan told Guan Qianya that Jiang Kele was drunk and couldn't go home that night. Guan Qianya demanded the address to pick her up, but Xu Guanghan refused. Guan Qianya then mistakenly identified Xu Guanghan as Luo Ke, who she had encountered previously.
Xu Guanghan, still not convinced of Jiang Kele's innocence, declared that she would not be allowed to leave until he had thoroughly investigated the situation. Meanwhile, Luo Ke and Su Lie worried about Jiang Kele, believing she had been captured simply for spending a little too long in Lu Xiao's room. They expressed sadness, fearing they might never see her again, even lamenting their inability to get drunk on plain water to cope with the situation.
Xu Nian also voiced his concern, suggesting that Xu Guanghan was serious this time. However, Lu Xiao remained indifferent, stating it was good that Jiang Kele was gone as she wouldn't bother him, and Su Lie and Luo Ke would no longer face issues because of her. Separately, Guan Qianya, thinking Jiang Kele was out having fun without her, frantically scrolled through her phone contacts, searching for someone to drink with, but dismissed everyone for various reasons.
Frustrated, she called Xu Nian, asking why he was her only option when she had so many friends in real life. Xu Nian pointed out that perhaps only a few people were truly available to her. Guan Qianya then confided that her best friend, Jiang Kele, had been acting suspiciously, seemingly hiding something. Xu Nian, however, emphasized the importance of privacy between best friends, hinting that his own secret was his very existence as a virtual character.
Guan Qianya invited him for a drink, but he declined, reminding her that he was just a virtual character, leaving her feeling foolish for having high hopes. Observing this interaction, Xu Guanghan was satisfied, telling Lei Na that Jiang Kele's innocence was largely confirmed and that Guan Qianya had taken the bait by placing her hopes in Xu Nian. Jiang Kele, still tied up, was informed by Lei Na that she had been cleared of suspicions.
Overjoyed, Jiang Kele expressed her eagerness to return home for work the next morning. However, Lei Na stopped her, explaining that while her innocence was confirmed for now, they couldn't guarantee her future discretion. Therefore, for the company's security, Jiang Kele was fired and warned to forget everything about Bayhouse to live a normal life. Jiang Kele protested, complaining that her feet had gone numb from being tied up for so long.
Upon returning home, Jiang Kele found Guan Qianya passed out drunk at the dining table. She gently covered her friend with a blanket before retreating to her room. There, she put on her special glasses and connected with her virtual Lu Xiao. She poured out her heart, lamenting the loss of her high-paying job and, more importantly, her inability to see Lu Xiao and his friends, whom she had come to consider good friends.
She regretted not having bought them a farewell cake, as they had never experienced such a treat. She asked her virtual Lu Xiao if he would miss her if she disappeared, and he replied that he would. Sadly, she then noted that the real Lu Xiao likely wouldn't, wishing the virtual version was real. Some time later, Jiang Kele was at a beauty store, complaining to her colleague Qiqi about being fired.
Meanwhile, Xu Guanghan inquired about Jiang Kele's whereabouts from Lei Na, who confirmed she had been fired and had promised to keep Bayhouse a secret. To Lei Na's surprise, Xu Guanghan then instructed her to bring Jiang Kele back. He explained that Lu Xiao's emotional data, which was previously stagnant, had become highly volatile and dynamic after Jiang Kele's arrival.
This "positive emotional data" was crucial for his "Project Y," which aimed to introduce an outsider to interact with the four virtual characters. He concluded that Jiang Kele's presence was vital for the project's continuation. Lei Na then called Jiang Kele, summoning her back to Bayhouse, emphasizing that her reinstatement depended on the decision of Lu Xiao, Xu Nian, Su Lie, and Luo Ke.
Upon Jiang Kele's arrival, Xu Guanghan informed the four virtual characters that Jiang Kele had violated company housekeeping regulations and could no longer work there, unless one of them was willing to accept punishment on her behalf. Su Lie immediately volunteered to do 1,000 strokes on the rowing machine, followed by Xu Nian and Luo Ke. After a moment of hesitation, Lu Xiao also agreed. Seeing his hesitation, Xu Guanghan assigned the punishment to Lu Xiao.
Jiang Kele looked concerned, offering to do some strokes herself, but Xu Guanghan insisted Lu Xiao complete all 1,000. During the grueling task, Jiang Kele apologized to Lu Xiao, admitting she thought he hated her and playfully wondered if he had fallen in love with her. Lu Xiao quickly dismissed her speculation, asserting he took the punishment for the sake of the other three and not for her.
Jiang Kele, unconvinced, offered him candy, telling him to take it to avoid hypoglycemia. Xu Guanghan observed Lu Xiao's data during this interaction and was visibly pleased with the results. In a different development, Guan Qianya visited her psychologist, declaring that her insomnia was cured. The psychologist expressed concern about her unusually rapid recovery, fearing she might be relying on something else, possibly illicit substances, to sleep.
Guan Qianya adamantly denied any illegal activities, reiterating that she was genuinely cured and thanked him for his past treatments. Later, a man named Qi Chuan approached Guan Qianya, revealing that he had accepted a live debate challenge against Xu Guanghan on her behalf, despite her earlier rejection. He had even prepared a thesis for her. Guan Qianya was furious, demanding to know who gave him permission to act for her.
Qi Chuan informed her that Xu Guanghan had already made the debate public online, and her fans had enthusiastically agreed, even quoting a fan lamenting about his wife's game addiction and divorce, urging Guan Qianya to save his marriage. Qi Chuan then challenged Guan Qianya, asking if she was scared, to which she defiantly responded that she had nothing to fear. He then pressed her to review his prepared thesis for the debate.
That night, despite her earlier claims, Guan Qianya found herself unable to sleep again. In her distress, she put on her contact lenses and called Xu Nian. He appeared, humorously apologizing for being "late" for a virtual character. Guan Qianya confessed her inability to sleep, explaining she had something important the next day and was stressed. Xu Nian then confidently stated he had a solution for her.
