Following his arrival at Mi Yuan, Xu Guanghan, head of Yao Inc., reviewed the performance evaluations for his four virtual characters: Xu Nian at 97%, Luo Ke at 92%, Su Lie at 90%, and Lu Xiao at 89%. He expressed his dissatisfaction with these figures, demanding 100% perfection and questioning if his tech department had been on paid leave all year. Meanwhile, Guan Qianya began her experience with the virtual reality game.
A parcel was delivered, but the courier revealed himself to be a robber. Just as he threatened her, the virtual character Su Lie appeared, declaring he would always be there to protect her. Unimpressed, Guan Qianya dismissed his words as nonsense and wished for his disappearance, which he granted. Next, Lu Xiao appeared, showing her concern, but she quickly wished him away as well. The scene then shifted to a snowy landscape where Luo Ke offered her hot cocoa.
Citing her severe insomnia and the drink's caffeine content, she rejected it. Finally, Xu Nian appeared, engaging Guan Qianya in a piano duet. As he leaned in for a kiss, she slapped him, ending the interaction. Thoroughly disappointed, she wished the "useless game" would "break down." Coincidentally, the servers at Yao Inc. crashed.
Trapped inside their simulated world, Lu Xiao, Xu Nian, Su Lie, and Luo Ke discussed their confinement, with some wishing to explore the outside world once their contracts ended. At her company, Guan Qianya held a meeting to address the severe impact of Yao Inc.'s Y4 virtual characters on their performance. Her subordinates proposed unfeasible solutions, from collaborating with Yao Inc. to creating their own "girl group" of forty-eight virtual characters.
Guan Qianya dismissed each idea and abruptly ended the meeting. Soon after, her former colleague, Cui Manager, called with critical news: Jipeng Foundation, their primary investor, was divesting due to the company's declining performance, which they directly attributed to Y4's success. Enraged, Guan Qianya vowed she would not allow such a "stupid virtual game to affect a human's future."
Guan Qianya launched her counter-attack by publishing an article online, fiercely criticizing the virtual lovers and labeling them as digital products that "ruin human futures." The article quickly went viral. At Yao Inc., Xu Guanghan was informed but remained unconcerned. He instructed his assistant, Lei Na, not to delete the article but instead to "boost its popularity," predicting that Y4's devoted fans would become enraged and attack Guan Qianya on their behalf.
He then proceeded to fire his chef for preparing him a luxurious meal instead of the standard staff meal, as well as several employees who failed to greet him. As Xu Guanghan predicted, Guan Qianya's article incited a furious backlash from Y4's fans, who flooded the internet with insults and threats. Meanwhile, Jiang Kele, working as a cleaner at Mi Yuan, barely avoided encountering the four virtual characters, remembering Granny Fu Shun's strict warning about being discovered.
After finishing her cleaning, Jiang Kele went to the hospital to report to the granny, who praised her work. She then offered Jiang Kele a lucrative deal: to continue cleaning Mi Yuan on her behalf, promising to split her salary, which was far higher than what Jiang Kele earned at her beauty store. On her way home, Jiang Kele saw Guan Qianya's inflammatory article and grew concerned for her safety, but Guan Qianya remained nonchalant.
The next morning, a mob of furious Y4 fans had surrounded Guan Qianya's apartment building. Jiang Kele warned her not to go downstairs, but Guan Qianya insisted she had to get to work. To create a diversion, Jiang Kele bravely drove Guan Qianya's car while wearing a wig to impersonate her, successfully drawing the fans' attention and allowing Guan Qianya to slip away. When they arrived at Guan Qianya's company, another crowd of fans was waiting.
Cui Manager stepped out first, attracting the fans' fury and enduring a barrage of eggs. Unfazed, Guan Qianya then calmly exited the car, holding an umbrella emblazoned with a Y4 logo. Worried about defacing the virtual characters' images on the umbrella, the fans immediately ceased their attack. Later, Jiang Kele brought her spicy hotpot lunch to Mi Yuan. After finishing her tasks, she realized she had left the hotpot behind. Rushing back, she heard the virtual characters returning.
Remembering Granny Fu Shun's advice about a hiding spot, Jiang Kele quickly concealed herself but forgot to take her food. Luo Ke, Xu Nian, and Su Lie discovered the spicy hotpot. Despite Xu Guanghan's strict rules against junk food, their curiosity was piqued. They gingerly tasted it, finding the intense spicy flavor surprisingly delicious. As they indulged, Jiang Kele saw an opportunity to escape, but just as she tried to sneak away, Lu Xiao noticed her and called out, "Stop there! Who are you?"
