Siming approached Jiuchen in deep distress, pleading for help. He begged Jiuchen to either take him to the Shanling Tribe to see Lingxi or to the Self-Realization Cliff to see High God Yunfeng. He also implored Jiuchen to control Shisan, who had been relentlessly pursuing him. Siming explained that when Jiuchen was severely injured, he had emotionally hugged Shisan, who misinterpreted the gesture.

She had since written a marriage proposal and delivered it to Siming Hall, where she was now waiting, leaving Siming too afraid to return home. As they spoke, several Heavenly Soldiers escorted Yuantong past them. Jiuchen acknowledged the soldiers but walked by Yuantong without a glance. Yuantong watched his retreating figure with a heavy heart.

After exiting the South Gate of Heaven, she ignored Duyu who was waiting for her, cast a final, longing look back at the Heavenly Palace with tears in her eyes, and then departed. Lingxi remained by her mother Ling Yue's bedside. Seeing Lingxi's exhaustion, Grandmother Shi persuaded her to get some rest. Shortly after Lingxi returned to her room, Jing Xiu sent attendants with fine clothes and jewelry, also conveying his intention to build a proper palace chamber for her.

When they later met, Lingxi politely declined the offer, but Jing Xiu insisted, stating that as the Shanling Tribe's Princess, such treatment was her rightful due. Lingxi thanked him for protecting her with his life, acknowledging that while she was grateful, a simple "thank you" was insufficient. Jing Xiu dismissed the formality and, seeing her pain, promised to compensate her for all the suffering she had endured. Unbeknownst to them, their conversation was overheard by Baoqing.

Learning that Lingxi was Ling Yue's biological daughter and the object of Jing Xiu's devotion, her resentment and jealousy intensified. At the Self-Realization Cliff, Jiuchen found Qingyao keeping vigil over Yunfeng, who was sealed in stone. He advised her that Yunfeng would not want her to punish herself by wasting away at the cliff.

He reminded her that their punishment was a karmic consequence for their grave mistake, and if she truly wished to atone, she should do so by serving all living beings, not just Yunfeng. As a renowned physician, she could save countless lives, and squandering a thousand years in idleness would betray both Yunfeng's sacrifice and her divine duties. Enlightened by his words, Qingyao thanked him and then asked if he had seen Lingxi.

Jiuchen confessed that Lingxi felt different, and he struggled to distinguish between her and Lin Mo. Qingyao explained that they were the same person, sharing her own disorientation after her mortal trial. She reasoned that mortal life, though brief, is a complete existence, and sincere affection makes any connection real. She urged Jiuchen to be patient, as Lingxi needed time to process the trauma of Lin Mo’s death. Later, Baoqing blocked Lingxi from visiting Ling Yue, mocking her legitimacy.

Lingxi chose not to argue and left. She found companionship with Wuwan, who had grown to an enormous size after breaking the restrictions Jiuchen had placed on it. Seeing Lingxi's melancholy, Jing Xiu brought her a medical book, noting that the Shanling Tribe's practices were unique. Lingxi admitted that while she once disliked medicine, her time in the mortal world had sparked a genuine interest, as learning gave her a sense of security.

Hearing this, Jing Xiu gently took the book, asserting that she was now protected and could live as she pleased. Lingxi smiled and took it back, insisting her interest was now real. Their pleasant conversation in the garden was observed by Baoqing's maid, who reported back that they seemed "made for each other," further infuriating Baoqing. Meanwhile, the imprisoned Qinyuan learned that Jing Xiu had killed Zhonghao and seized power, filling him with regret.

He feigned a qi deviation, and when the guards entered his cell, he killed them and escaped. Jing Xiu, however, was unconcerned by the news, confident that without Zhonghao, Qinyuan was no threat. Cheng Yan, worried about Qingyao, was about to go to the Self-Realization Cliff to bring her back when she returned to the Peach Forest on her own. Heeding Jiuchen's advice, she resumed her medical practice in the mortal world.

She soon encountered an elderly woman and her grandchild being mistreated; noticing the woman's severe leg injury, Qingyao compassionately provided them with food and money and wrote a prescription for treatment. At Lingxi's insistence, her attendant found Qingyao and brought her to the Shanling Tribe. Lingxi, having grown suspicious of her mother's treatment, immediately asked Qingyao to examine the medicine. From the dregs, Qingyao identified the concoction as "Immortal Chasing Powder."

She explained the grave danger: Ling Yue, whose spirit was damaged by a Soul Absorption Technique, needed strong medicine to awaken her. This powder, however, merely nourished her body and induced deeper sleep, which would ultimately cause her spirit to dissipate completely. Meanwhile, Jing Xiu received news of Qingyao’s arrival and immediately dispatched Chixia to handle the witch doctor. Enraged by the discovery, Grandmother Shi also sent General Chongming to arrest the witch doctor.

However, he arrived too late; the witch doctor had already committed suicide by destroying her primordial spirit, and all medical records had vanished, indicating a ruthless, well-placed spy had silenced her. Lingxi pressed Grandmother Shi, who adamantly denied knowing anything more. Qingyao understood Grandmother Shi's predicament in the tribe's volatile political climate. Lingxi lamented her powerlessness, but Qingyao suggested she seek help from Jing Xiu.

Lingxi refused; though she didn't suspect him and was grateful for his sacrifices, she could not return his feelings and did not want to incur more debt. When Qingyao suggested Jiuchen, Lingxi confessed she felt too useless, having brought him and others nothing but harm. She declared her resolve to become strong and capable on her own, someone worthy of standing by his side. Amused by Lingxi's newfound determination, Qingyao teased her, asking just how strong she needed to become.

Lingxi retorted that since Jiuchen always treated her like a child, it was time he experienced being left behind. In Fuyun Hall, Jiuchen suddenly began sneezing. While his attendants joked that someone must be missing him, Siming changed the subject, mentioning an investigation into immortal maids who were absent during the blood moon. Huayan, who was serving tea, grew flustered and spilled it, which Jiuchen noticed with suspicion but did not pursue. Growing impatient with the chatter, he dismissed them. Alone, he paced restlessly, muttering that his master was right—Lingxi was indeed a conscienceless little girl.
