Jiuchen brought Lingxi to the Demon Tower, explaining it was a place where powerful evil monsters had been suppressed since ancient times, and the most heavily guarded location in the Six Realms. He told her she needed to stay there temporarily to prevent demons from taking advantage of her. He clarified that he had made a promise to her, but also had to provide an explanation to the Heavenly Palace.
Despite her fear, Lingxi bravely asserted that she was not an evil monster, nor did she harbor any evil in her heart, and most importantly, she trusted Jiuchen would not harm her. Within the Demon Tower, many demons were confined, led by the powerful demon Huodou, who had once sworn brotherhood with Zhurong. Despite his immense power, Huodou lacked the sense of hearing and relied on a lesser demon named Changyou to communicate with outsiders.
Huodou constantly sought to restore his sense of hearing, but Changyou, fearing he would become obsolete, deliberately misled Huodou with false information. Huodou, though aware of Changyou's deception, had no other recourse. To assert control over the multitude of demons, Jiuchen personally led Lingxi into the tower, holding her hand. Lingxi instinctively recoiled behind Jiuchen upon seeing the grotesque demons.
Huodou, upon seeing Jiuchen, attempted to flatter him, but Jiuchen ignored him, instead taking Lingxi to the highest point within the Demon Tower. There, Lingxi, having endured a tumultuous period, confided in Jiuchen, revealing her feelings of injustice, resentment, and guilt. Jiuchen, though pained, could offer no immediate solace. Before departing, Jiuchen infused a strand of his divine consciousness into an Immortal Knot, giving it to Lingxi and instructing her to keep it on her person at all times.
He then created a barrier around her, assuring her that within its confines, the Immortal Knot would protect her. Lingxi watched Jiuchen's retreating figure with reluctance, her love for him making her willing to await his return and salvation, even amidst her confinement. Immortal Lord Puhua arrived at Yaowang Cave, intending to apprehend Doctor Qingyao, but was blocked at the entrance by Fairy Yuli.
High God Yunfeng, who had been attending to Qingyao, repelled the intruders with a wave of his sleeve. Yunfeng adamantly stated his disbelief that Doctor Qingyao, who had saved countless lives over tens of thousands of years, would commit murder. He requested time from Immortal Lord Puhua to investigate the truth, offering to be Qingyao's guarantor while she recuperated in Yaowang Cave. Puhua reluctantly agreed. Qingyao was stirred awake by the commotion outside.
Yunfeng informed her that Chengyan was gravely injured but out of mortal danger, currently being cared for by Fairy Yuli. Qingyao then inquired about her Teacher, Le Bo. Yunfeng hesitated, unwilling to elaborate, leading Qingyao to immediately surmise that Le Bo had likely met with an unfortunate end. Overwhelmed with grief, the usually composed Qingyao broke down, embracing her knees and weeping like a helpless child, seemingly oblivious to Yunfeng's presence.
After Jiuchen's departure, Huodou questioned Lingxi about her relationship with him. Before Lingxi could respond, Changyou began fabricating stories. Huodou attempted to enter Lingxi's barrier to teach her a lesson, but the Immortal Knot repelled him. Enraged, Huodou declared his current predicament was akin to a tiger being bullied by dogs, boasting of his glorious past and his sworn brotherhood with the God of Fire Zhurong.
He threatened Lingxi, demanding she surrender her sense of hearing to him, warning her that he possessed numerous means to torment her if she refused. Terrified, Lingxi could only curl into a ball, clutching her knees in the corner, unable to utter another word. Having ensured Lingxi's safety, Jiuchen returned to Heavenly Lord Mountain to seek his Master, the Heavenly Supreme Lord, and confess his actions.
The Heavenly Supreme Lord sighed, stating that while Jiuchen might have averted disaster today, he could not indefinitely defy destiny, and that Lingxi's fate of death was unavoidable. Jiuchen offered no reply, but privately began to formulate a plan. The following day, Jiuchen visited Siming at Siming Hall, inquiring about methods to retrieve the Farmer God's Cauldron.
Siming explained that the Farmer God's Cauldron was a supreme treasure forged by the ancient deity Shennong, and only three artifacts—the Fuxi Bone, Chi You's Blade, and one of the Nuwa Stones—could rival its power. However, due to the passage of time, the Fuxi Bone and Chi You's Blade had long been lost, and even the Nuwa Stones were difficult to find. Before Siming could finish, Jiuchen turned to leave.
Siming, realizing Jiuchen's likely intention to retrieve the Farmer God's Cauldron to save Lingxi, knelt and implored him to remember his duty as God of War and guardian of the Six Realms, urging him to prioritize the safety of billions of lives. Jiuchen, however, said nothing, merely waved Siming aside, and departed. Jiuchen arrived outside the Demon Tower with Wuwan. He secretly used his powers to enlarge Wuwan, creating a diversion by engaging the celestial guards.
Simultaneously, the Immortal Knot on Lingxi's person glowed brightly, immediately alerting her to Jiuchen's presence. Changyou, seeing the glowing Immortal Knot, urged Huodou to seize it. However, Huodou was again repelled by the spiritual energy emanating from the knot and had to give up. Heavenly generals also heard the commotion at the Demon Tower and rushed to investigate. Jiuchen seized this opportunity to order Kaiyang to summon all generals of the War Division to Fuyun Hall for a meeting.
After everyone had left, Jiuchen entered the Demon Tower. He stood before the Farmer God's Cauldron and, forming a hand seal, began to shrink it. The demon dragon Zhuyin, whom the Farmer God's Cauldron had suppressed, seized this opportune moment to escape. It attempted to kill Jiuchen but was swiftly re-suppressed by him. Jiuchen continued his spell until the Farmer God's Cauldron was reduced to the size of his palm.
Then, astonishingly, he extracted his own heart and transformed it into a phantom Farmer God's Cauldron, re-installing it within the Demon Tower. It was revealed that Jiuchen's parents had both died fighting demons, leaving him as the sole surviving bloodline of their clan. Nearing death from a damaged heart, the Heavenly Supreme Lord had recreated a heart for him using a Nuwa Stone, placing it within his body. This explained Jiuchen's desperate and dangerous actions after his conversation with Siming.
Without his heart, Jiuchen's body became severely weakened. Huodou, misled by Changyou's lies, suddenly launched a lethal attack on Jiuchen, but Jiuchen still managed to repel him. Jiuchen ascended to the highest point of the Demon Tower. Lingxi, seeing him, was overjoyed. Jiuchen struggled to suppress the surge of blood in his chest, reassuring Lingxi to wait for him a while longer and to trust him no matter what transpired.
Lingxi nodded her agreement, earnestly reminding him to take his medicine on time to prevent his cold disease from relapsing and to remind the careless Shisan to keep the Endless Wood perpetually burning. Jiuchen, fearing he would vomit blood if he spoke, merely bit his lip and nodded, then turned and left. Outside the Demon Tower, the celestial guards who had been knocked unconscious had awoken and questioned the earlier disturbance.
Jiuchen falsely claimed that Zhuyin had attempted to escape and had been re-suppressed by him. After Jiuchen's departure, Lingxi became increasingly concerned, recalling his weakened state. Just then, Huodou reappeared, this time effortlessly breaching the barrier Jiuchen had created. Huodou revealed to her that Jiuchen had excavated the Nuwa Stone Heart from his own body to save her, and that his life source was rapidly dissipating.
Huodou claimed to possess an item that could save him: the Fire Essence, the Thousand-Fire Primordial Energy that the God of Fire Zhurong had carried from birth. This Fire Essence, he explained, could not only replace the Nuwa Stone as Jiuchen's heart, providing him with life, but also completely cure his cold disease. Overwhelmed with worry for Jiuchen, Lingxi, disregarding Le Bo's dying warnings and Jiuchen's earlier instructions, desperately agreed to exchange her sense of hearing for the Fire Essence.
High God Yunfeng went to Fuyun Hall to find Jiuchen but was informed by Shisan that the generals had been waiting for two hours without any sign of the Senior Deity. Sensing something was amiss, Yunfeng immediately rushed to the Demon Tower. Outside, he encountered Jiuchen, who was on his way back. Yunfeng was alarmed to discover that Jiuchen's life source was rapidly dissipating and quickly questioned him. Jiuchen, concerned about potential eavesdroppers, spoke little.
Upon returning to Fuyun Hall, Yunfeng pressed Jiuchen repeatedly, but Jiuchen refused to reveal who had harmed him. Ignoring Jiuchen's protests, Yunfeng took his wrist to check his pulse, only to find none. Alarmed, he checked Jiuchen's chest and confirmed there was no heartbeat. With tears in his eyes, Yunfeng demanded answers. Jiuchen remained silent but, with a wave of his hand, summoned the Farmer God's Cauldron. Upon seeing it, Yunfeng immediately understood the gravity of the situation.
