He expressed his sorrow that he might have to break this promise, fearing they would be forever parted after that day. He confessed that while he wished to stay with her always, her well-being was his utmost priority.

He reminded her of their first meeting, when she was keeping vigil for her parents, acknowledging the pain she endured then and the heartbreak she would face again. He hoped that the pain would last only one night, urging her to start anew like she did in her youth. He made her promise to be healthy and free from illness when they met again.

Xiao Yiqing then stated that she had given his imperfect life a reason to live, and for her sake, he was willing to give up his own. He administered the unique core of the Moon God Flower to Shu Jingrong, his tears falling upon her face as he made this sacrifice. Shu Jingrong slowly regained consciousness and clung to Xiao Yiqing, relieved that he was alive.

She mourned for her Elder Brother, Qing Lan, but Xiao Yiqing gently reminded her that some things cannot be protected despite their best efforts and that Qing Lan had simply gone to where he belonged. Shu Jingrong, in turn, comforted Xiao Yiqing, saying that Madam Xue Wen must have yearned to reunite with his father. They continued their descent until Xiao Yiqing collapsed from exhaustion, prompting Shu Jingrong to notice his critical condition. He apologized, stating he could no longer walk with her. In a desperate plea, Shu Jingrong denied his impending death, asking if it was the Jue Yin Disease or the Holy Lake's effects, and insisting he would recover. Xiao Yiqing urged her not to waste her energy, revealing that this time, he could not escape his fate.

He entrusted his Shadow Sun Dagger to her, instructing her to keep it safe, so that when paired with her Blood Rose Sword, they would never be apart. Shu Jingrong realized he had given her the Moon God Flower core, sacrificing his own cure. She cried out, asking why he had acted alone, breaking his promise to her.

Xiao Yiqing responded that her safety brought him peace and reminded her of her past request for him not to act rashly, asking her to promise the same. As the sky opened up and rain poured down, Xiao Yiqing closed his eyes in her arms.

Shu Jingrong desperately called his name, begging him to open his eyes and not leave her. She cried that she had lost everything and only wanted him to stay, reminding him of his unfulfilled promise to take her to a puppet show. Determined not to let him die, Shu Jingrong declared that she would use all her martial skills to save him, and began to channel her inner energy into him, but he remained still.

Gugang assumed the leadership of Moon Sect, declaring his intention to restore its reputation. He announced that the cruel Xuan Yin Heart Sutra had been destroyed and could no longer be practiced, urging Moon followers to use their martial arts to aid the people of Nanjiang and the martial community.

He acknowledged Snow Tower's role in saving Nanjiang and proclaimed an end to the long-standing grudges between Moon Sect and Snow Tower, looking forward to a new beginning as Jia Ruo had entrusted him with the sect's affairs. Bing Ling stood by his side, smiling approvingly. Meanwhile, Shu Jingrong returned to Snow Tower amidst heavy snow. Shi Mingyan, confined to a wheelchair, approached her.

Shu Jingrong confronted her, sarcastically asking if the current outcome was her desired ending, recalling Shi Mingyan's past desire for revenge on Moon Sect for Lady Ye and Ren Fei Yang. Xiao Yiqing had accepted this charade, even feigning a falling out with Shu Jingrong, all to allow Shi Mingyan to recuperate at Snow Tower.

Shu Jingrong chastised Shi Mingyan, pointing out that Xiao Yiqing had attacked Moon Sect for the sake of Nanjiang's people, while Shi Mingyan had been consumed by her personal feelings, ungrateful for his repeated forgiveness. Overcome with regret, Shi Mingyan acknowledged her fault and the harm she had caused Xiao Yiqing. Shu Jingrong told her that Xiao Yiqing, despite seeing through her plan, had chosen not to leave her homeless due to her youth.

She then presented Shi Mingyan with the Guo Se Sword, a weapon Xiao Yiqing once said should only be wielded by a righteous person. Shu Jingrong expressed her hope that with the Guo Se Sword, Shi Mingyan would abandon her hatred and atone for her sins by staying at Snow Tower to help protect the martial world. Shu Jingrong gathered the Four Tower Guardians and other disciples, entrusting the care of Snow Tower to them.

She expressed her belief that as long as they remained, Snow Tower would stand firm, and its legacy, along with the legends of the two elites, would endure in the pugilistic world. She reminded them of Xiao Yiqing's wish for a peaceful martial world and urged them to continue fulfilling it. Declaring it was time for her to leave, she asked them to protect Xiao Yiqing's heart and soul, while she would protect him.

After Shu Jingrong's departure, Zi Mo tearfully revealed that in her effort to save Xiao Yiqing, Shu Jingrong had completely depleted her inner energy, leaving her without martial skills. She explained that Shu Jingrong desired a quiet life with Xiao Yiqing, far from battles, to enjoy the world in its newfound peace. From then on, Zi Mo, Huang Quan, Bi Luo, and Hong Chen remained at Snow Tower, diligently guarding it and cherishing their moments together.

Shu Jingrong brought Xiao Yiqing to a peaceful, secluded mountain valley for his recovery. He remained in a deep coma, his eyes closed and unresponsive for several months. Shu Jingrong tenderly caressed his face, wishing for him to awaken. She would speak to him, describing the beautiful, battle-free world around them and expressing her joy in its pleasant wonders, longing for him to open his eyes and see it for himself.

She assured him she would stay by his side no matter how long he slept. She reassured him that Shi Mingyan and the Four Tower Guardians were managing Snow Tower's affairs well, maintaining its reputation as he had wished.

Shu Jingrong also recounted how, during his slumber, she had learned to make paper lanterns, cutting a new picture daily, so they could light them together upon his awakening. She showed him a paper-cut she had made of the Cowherd and Weaving Girl, reminding him of his unfulfilled promise to take her to a puppet show. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew the paper-cut away.

Shu Jingrong, having lost her martial arts, was unable to catch it and fell, distraught over her inability to protect even their memories. When she turned back, she found Xiao Yiqing was no longer in his chair. Panicked, she frantically called out his name, searching for him and questioning if he had finally regained consciousness. To her immense relief, Xiao Yiqing appeared, holding the recovered paper-cut. Overjoyed, Shu Jingrong rushed into his arms, their long-awaited reunion promising them an eternal togetherness.
