He promised to be by her side no matter what, assuring her he wouldn't let anything happen to her.

Shi Mingyan decided to leave Snow Tower, feeling that with her aunt's passing, there was no meaning in staying. However, Chi Xiaotai intercepted her, cautioning that if she left alone and encountered the Moon Sect, she might suffer the same fate as Ye Fengsha. Chi Xiaotai advised her to reflect on what she truly desired.

She recalled Xiao Yiqing's words that one needs power to control their own destiny, suggesting that if Shi Mingyan truly wished to avenge herself against the Moon Sect, Snow Tower was the best place for her. Convinced, Shi Mingyan chose to stay. Gao Mengfei escorted the Crown Prince back to King Zhen Nan's Manor. The Crown Prince then revealed to his father that he was nearly killed by the Moon Sect during his journey and was certain there was a Moon Sect spy within their manor. He offered to find the spy if his father would uphold justice when the time came.

Initially skeptical, King Zhen Nan listened as Gao Mengfei explained that when he had secretly disguised himself as the Crown Prince in Luoyang, the enemy always knew the real Crown Prince's movements despite his hidden identity. This strongly suggested an inside plot to assassinate the Crown Prince, as only those within the manor would possess such intimate knowledge. Convinced by their reasoning, King Zhen Nan agreed to cooperate, stating it was better to be cautious.

The Crown Prince then requested Gao Mengfei's assistance in the matter. Carrying out their plan, the Crown Prince and Gao Mengfei found Ren Feiyang. The Crown Prince accused Ren Feiyang of being a spy, citing his unique access to the Moon Sect. He pressed Ren Feiyang to reveal his accomplice within the manor. Ren Feiyang, playing his part, implicated Steward Chen. The Crown Prince, feigning realization, noted that Steward Chen had accompanied him to Luoyang and thus knew his whereabouts.

He then ordered Steward Chen's arrest, instructing that he and Ren Feiyang be imprisoned in separate cells for personal interrogation. King Zhen Nan was outraged upon learning of the Moon Sect spies, particularly that Ren Feiyang, his personal guard, was one of them. He swore he would not let them off easily. Consort Li, feigning concern, anxiously inquired if Ren Feiyang would be tortured.

Separately, Xue Qingming and Doctor Mo were also studying the golden needle. Xue Qingming recalled her father's notes detailing a vicious technique: an extremely thin golden needle could be used to seal a person's Baihui acupoint, and with a special hypnotic technique, seal their past memories.

She noted that this was a rare trick not commonly found in medical books. Xiao Yiqing, revealing its importance to him, asked if there was any method to recover these sealed memories. Xue Qingming explained that unlocking the acupoint required special and precise techniques she hadn't studied, and she would need time for research. While they were still discussing, Shu Jingrong began screaming, her pupils turning blue, and she violently attacked Xiao Yiqing. He quickly sealed her acupoints, bringing her back to consciousness.

Seeing him injured, Shu Jingrong, filled with remorse, cried out, asking if she had hurt him. Xiao Yiqing repeatedly denied it, but she insisted it must have been her and tearfully apologized. He comforted her, assuring her it was alright. Jia Ruo inquired about Shu Jingrong, prompting Guguang to reluctantly reveal that during her fight with the Mistress, Shu Jingrong had contracted the Moon God Flower poison, which is a form of Mind Control from Nanjiang.

Guguang also explained that the Mistress had given strict orders to track all news regarding Shu Jingrong, no matter how minor. Realizing the gravity of Shu Jingrong's condition and believing she might be having an attack, Jia Ruo saw an opportunity to intervene. He announced his intention to leave the palace for a while and instructed Guguang to keep his departure a secret from Ming He.

Chi Xiaotai decided to go to King Zhen Nan's Manor to seek reinforcements, anticipating trouble on the Blue Mountains. Shi Mingyan asked to accompany her, feeling there was nothing she could do by staying behind, and they departed together. Xiao Yiqing brought Shu Jingrong to a peaceful courtyard, where he had hung copper bells to alert him if she had an attack while he slept.

The tranquil setting made Shu Jingrong feel a sense of home, stirring childhood memories of her family relaxing in a similar courtyard, and her mother chilling watermelon in water. As she reminisced, her pupils suddenly turned blue, and she became violent, choking Xiao Yiqing before seizing a sword and injuring him. He tried to restrain her, telling her he would not allow her to harm herself. Distraught, she pleaded with him, crying, "I might accidentally hurt you like this!

Please, I don't want to live like this! Just kill me." Xiao Yiqing managed to calm her by sealing her acupoints once more. While searching for Shu Jingrong, Jia Ruo encountered Gao Mengfei. Gao Mengfei greeted him as "Elder Brother," but Jia Ruo, clearly suffering from memory loss, merely asked about Shu Jingrong and dismissed Gao Mengfei as a mere "pawn in Snow Tower." Gao Mengfei reminded Jia Ruo that Snow Tower was their enemy and warned him that he (Gao Mengfei) would not easily let him break in. He then offered to send someone to bring Shu Jingrong and, in the interim, suggested Jia Ruo listen to his story. Gao Mengfei recounted how, years ago, he and his "Elder Brother" were ordered by their Master to escort a Crown Prince.

During a battle, his kind-hearted "Elder Brother" saved an injured maidservant and cared for her. However, she was a spy who betrayed them, leading to their Master's death and the destruction of the entire Sand Valley. Gao Mengfei then asked Jia Ruo if he would have saved such a person; Jia Ruo replied that he would not.

Gao Mengfei advised Jia Ruo not to protect someone blindly, even if they appear weak or if he felt indebted, because they might be concealing a terrible truth. Jia Ruo questioned Gao Mengfei's true meaning, but Gao Mengfei simply stated it was just an experience and asked him to wait, leaving Jia Ruo still confused. Consort Li secretly visited Ren Feiyang in the jail. Distraught by his injuries, she declared her intention to help him escape the manor.

Ren Feiyang, feigning weakness, expressed concern about escaping while injured, but she assured him she had dismissed the guards. However, Chi Xiaotai advised him to continue the charade for now, allowing Ren Feiyang to escape, which would enable them to gradually expose Consort Li's entire scheme later. The Crown Prince agreed. Consort Li, parting ways with Ren Feiyang, urged him to be careful on his journey, saying she could only escort him so far. Ren Feiyang likewise told her to be cautious, promising to find her again.

Soon after, Huang Quan arrived to meet Ren Feiyang, who excitedly told Huang Quan that there was a way to cure the Mind Control and urged him to quickly find the Snow Tower Master.
