Ming He tearfully reads a message from her late father, Ming Che, which reveals how much he had thought of her over the years. She wishes he were still alive so they could share the joy of family. Jia Ruo gently wipes away her tears, comforting her by saying, "It's never too late. I believe your father can feel your love from up above." Ming He then leans into Jia Ruo's embrace, finding a moment of warmth.

When Chi Xiaotai spots Shi Ming Yan, Shi Ming Yan immediately tries to turn away. Chi Xiaotai pursues her, explaining that she doesn't blame Shi Ming Yan for not rescuing her previously. Chi Xiaotai acknowledges that under those difficult circumstances, Shi Ming Yan's actions were the right thing to do, as it ultimately led to Qiu Hu Yu's defeat. She asserts that if anyone is to blame, it is Ming He, for causing Snow Tower to release Qiu Hu Yu.

Chi Xiaotai then promises to avenge Shi Ming Yan when the opportunity arises. Shi Ming Yan, impressed by Chi Xiaotai's resolve, remarks on her ruthlessness, calling her a "diamond in the rough." Xue Qingming is diligently working on a medicinal formula, following Xiao Yiqing's orders to find a way to restore memory to someone who has suffered severe injury and amnesia. Noticing the unusual use of rare herbs, Nan Chu inquires about her research.

Xue Qingming explains the Tower Master's request, prompting Nan Chu to realize the remedy is intended for Jia Ruo, whom he knows is Bai Di's eldest disciple, Qing Lan. Nan Chu also recalls Gu Guang's account that Qing Lan was injured and lost his memory during the battle at Sand Valley. Xue Qingming, realizing she may have revealed too much, quickly asks Nan Chu to keep it a secret, which he promises to do.

Later, Jia Ruo is gripped by a splitting headache, his mind assaulted by fragmented visions. He sees the destruction of Sand Valley, glimpses of his childhood with Shu Jingrong, and a blurry image of a girl named Ye Huo. He becomes frantic, calling out Ye Huo's name and describing her as someone who played the flute and grew up with him, he also states his name is Qing Lan.

Ming He quickly intervenes, giving him a sedative and falsely claiming, "Ye Huo is just a girl you saved by chance. She died a long time ago!" She desperately tries to convince him that she was the one who saved him, asserting that Ye Huo is dead. Observing his fragmented memories, which are a confused mix of Ye Huo and Shu Jingrong, Ming He realizes his sealed past is gradually resurfacing, albeit in a muddled state.

Once Jia Ruo is sedated and asleep, Ming He performs acupuncture on him, explaining her actions to his unconscious form: "I've sealed your memories because I hope that you will stay by my side forever. And forget about the painful past. You're not anyone else but Jia Ruo. Ye Huo is already dead. I am the one you met from the very beginning." This act is meant to continue suppressing his memories.

Ming He then instructs Gu Guang to keep Jia Ruo's past completely confidential, which he readily promises to do. Sensing his concern for Bing Ling, Ming He permits Gu Guang to visit her, assuring him that she will treat both Bing Ling and him well as long as he remains loyal to the Moon Sect. Additionally, she tasks Gu Guang with closely monitoring Qiu Hu Yu, known for his cunning, to ensure he fulfills his assigned mission.

Nan Chu, at Snow Tower, expresses concern over the lack of news from Xiao Yiqing's group, who left abruptly with Shu Jingrong, Gao Huan, and Ye Fengsha without disclosing their route. Gao Mengfei warns against sending scouts, as it might interfere with Xiao Yiqing's secret plans. Meanwhile, Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong arrive at the River of Remembrance, which flows towards Lingjiu Mountain.

Xiao Yiqing places a water lantern in the river, explaining that his father, Xiao Shi Shui, instructed him to do so, hoping it would help his parents' souls reunite. Shu Jingrong questions his belief in souls, but Xiao Yiqing states that fulfilling his father's last wish is what truly matters.

She senses his unease and suspects he is hiding something about Jia Ruo, but he deflects, attributing his anxiousness to being close to their objective after years of preparation and choosing to keep silent about Jia Ruo's matter for now. Gao Huan and Ye Fengsha inform Xiao Yiqing of their decision to find Ren Feiyang and rescue him from Storm League.

Xiao Yiqing reveals his elaborate plan for Ghost Festival night: Ming He will be at the foothill, and Snow Tower will create a diversion. Shu Jingrong, along with Gao Huan and Ye Fengsha, will use this opportunity to attack Storm League, while Xiao Yiqing plans to infiltrate Moon Palace alone to see Xue Wen. Shu Jingrong vehemently objects, refusing to let him face such danger by himself, arguing it deviates from their original plan.

Xiao Yiqing reassures her that Gu Guang has made all the necessary arrangements within the Moon Sect for his safe entry. Still worried, Shu Jingrong warns him that if he does not return by first light, she will go into Moon Palace herself, forcing Xiao Yiqing to promise he will be back before dawn. Gu Guang visits Bing Ling and Xue Wen in the Red Lotus Prison.

He informs Xue Wen that Xiao Yiqing placed a water lantern in the River of Remembrance, fulfilling Xiao Shi Shui's dying wish for his soul to find her at Lingjiu Mountain. Xue Wen is visibly touched by this news. Gu Guang then assures both women that he will rescue them if the opportunity arises.

Bing Ling, however, expresses concern, fearing that Ming He and Jia Ruo will exact harsh revenge on Gu Guang for betraying the Moon Sect if he helps them escape. Gu Guang is resolute, stating it is the only path left, and promises to find a way to escape and reunite with her.

Growing suspicious of Jia Ruo's recent secretive whereabouts, Ming He instructs Qing Hui to keep a close eye on him and report his every move, no matter how insignificant. Qing Hui acknowledges the difficulty of stopping Jia Ruo due to his martial prowess but promises to report any developments. Meanwhile, Jia Ruo continues to grapple with fragmented memories, staring at a portrait with an empty space for a face, unable to recall the girl's identity.

He also questions Ming He why he still needs to take medicine despite mastering Xuan Yin Heart Sutra. Ming He explains that the Sutra is highly toxic, and the medicine reduces its toxicity and calms his nerves as he's been sleeping lightly and dreaming a lot. Ming He then plays her flute with an anxious tune, drawing Jia Ruo to her. She explains that his recent mysterious movements have caused her immense worry, leading her to summon him.

Jia Ruo apologizes for causing her anxiety and promises to inform her of his whereabouts in the future. Ming He clings to him tightly, fearful of losing him, admits she's been feeling tired and stressed, and Jia Ruo gently embraces her, promising to stay by her side forever and protect her. She then suggests they return together for the upcoming prayer ceremony. Elsewhere, Nan Chu inquires about the progress of the memory restoration formula.

Xue Qingming explains that while some methods exist, they are often brutal, potentially lethal, and don't guarantee full recovery. Nan Chu expresses concern that the person (Qing Lan/Jia Ruo) might pose a threat to Xiao Yiqing. Xue Qingming reassures him, emphasizing that Xiao Yiqing's inner energy has significantly improved since his recovery, making him formidable with the Shadow Sun Dagger.

As the Ghost Festival begins, Ming He leads the Moon Sect followers and Jia Ruo in a prayer ceremony by the river. During the ceremony, Jia Ruo chants, seeking enlightenment about his real name. Qing Hui notices the water lantern Xiao Yiqing had placed earlier and reports it as a sign of disrespect. Concurrently, Xiao Yiqing, disguised as a Moon Sect disciple delivering herbs, leverages Gu Guang's pre-arranged assistance. Gu Guang, playing his role as Left Guardian, publicly reprimands Xiao Yiqing for the delayed delivery before allowing him to pass, ensuring a convincing infiltration into Moon Palace.
