Gao Huan informed Ren Feiyang that the Tear-stained Sword belonged to his father, Gao Fei, a heroic man who never killed the innocent, which softened the sword's originally murderous aura. Ren Feiyang expressed his intention to wield the Tear-stained Sword honorably, dismissing any superstitions about swords controlling one's destiny.

Gao Huan then revealed a century-old legend: if a wielder of the Tear-stained Sword takes too many lives, they are destined to die by the hand of an Affection Sword wielder, a fate of perpetual conflict between love and hatred. He further explained that the Affection Sword had been passed down through generations until it reached General Ren Huan Yu, Ren Feiyang's grandfather, and also mentioned a third legendary sword, Farewell, which was now lost.

Ren Feiyang scoffed at this, questioning if he and Gao Huan, now sworn brothers, were fated to kill each other. However, Gao Huan solemnly declared that given their current circumstances, he had no choice but to believe the legend. With a grim glint in his eyes, Gao Huan's demeanor shifted. Ren Feiyang, sensing danger, cautiously retreated and demanded to know Gao Huan's true intentions.

Gao Huan then unveiled a deep-seated grievance from the past: many years ago, his father, Gao Fei, served under Ren Huan Yu, Ren Feiyang's grandfather. During a campaign to suppress rogues, Gao Fei, out of compassion, spared the women and children in a mountain stronghold, thereby defying military orders. For this insubordination, Ren Huan Yu ordered Gao Fei to be publicly hanged on the city gate, where his body was left exposed for over three months, preventing a proper burial.

Following this tragedy, the Gao family fell into ruin, and Gao Huan's mother died of insanity, but not before extracting a deathbed vow from him to avenge their family by eliminating all members of the Ren family. Gao Huan now drew his sword, aiming it at Ren Feiyang to exact his long-held revenge. Ren Feiyang realized his life was now at stake.

Ren Feiyang, preparing for a confrontation, challenged Gao Huan to an honorable duel, dismissing the sword legend as mere nonsense. However, he suddenly felt a debilitating weakness, realizing that Gao Huan had poisoned the wine they had shared earlier. Ren Feiyang accused Gao Huan of resorting to despicable tactics rather than fighting valiantly, especially after their newfound camaraderie. Gao Huan, ignoring his accusations, simply reminded Ren Feiyang of his earlier question about whether he would regret exchanging swords.

Gao Huan declared that the legend, where the Tear-stained Sword wielder dies by the Affection Sword, was proving to be true. He then bid Ren Feiyang farewell, leaving the Tear-stained Sword with him, and departed with the Affection Sword. Ren Feiyang, spitting blood, collapsed to the ground in agony. Gao Huan returned to Shi Mingyan with a somber expression, informing her that he had arrived too late; the Storm League had already massacred her entire family.

Overcome with grief, Shi Mingyan wept bitterly, regretting that her escape from the brothel had led the Storm League's assassins to her family. Gao Huan attempted to console her, reminding her that he was still by her side as family. Shi Mingyan then noticed the Affection Sword in Gao Huan's hand and inquired about Ren Feiyang's whereabouts and his Tear-stained Sword.

Gao Huan told her that Ren Feiyang was dead, explaining that they had exchanged swords as a pledge of brotherhood before he left for Shi Manor. He reflected that had there been no ancestral grudges, he and Ren Feiyang could have been the best of brothers. In the courtyard, Bi Luo played his qin.

Hong Chen approached him with a medicinal salve for his wounds and expressed her curiosity about the origin of the "Purple Bamboo Tune" he had just played. Bi Luo recounted learning the tune from an old woman named Zhu Niang in Qing Feng Town during his travels. Hong Chen was deeply moved to tears, recognizing the melody. She revealed her family's ancient law, which dictated that one of twin siblings must die, leading her mother to leave the family.

Bi Luo observed Hong Chen's resemblance to Zhu Niang. Hong Chen confirmed that Zhu Niang was indeed her mother, lamenting that she could no longer hear her mother sing the tune. Seeing her distress, Bi Luo promised to play the "Purple Bamboo Tune" for her every day he remained at Snow Tower to ease her longing for her mother. Xiao Yiqing remained vigilantly by Shu Jingrong's bedside.

When she awoke, she refused to acknowledge him, still hurt by his accusations on Jun Mountain, where he had called her a mere pawn of Snow Tower. She told him to return to his duties, asserting that he needn't worry about her. Xiao Yiqing expressed concern for her injuries and reckless disregard for her life. Shu Jingrong angrily retorted that she chooses her own death and it was no concern of his, echoing his own previous harsh words.

When Xue Qingming brought Xiao Yiqing the Feathered Snow Lotus medicine, reminding him of Shu Jingrong's arduous efforts to obtain it, Shu Jingrong refused her own medicine and knocked it over. In a fit of pique, Xiao Yiqing then poured out his own Feathered Snow Lotus medicine, stating he didn't need it if she continued to act this way. He stormed off, leaving Shu Jingrong in tears and despair, calling out his name.

Ren Feiyang awakened to find himself saved by Qiu Huyu of the Storm League. Qiu Huyu informed him that he was safe for now but presented him with a choice: to become a vengeful corpse or an ignorant waste. Qiu Huyu then offered Ren Feiyang a path to revenge, proposing that he join the Storm League to help kill Gao Huan and retrieve the Affection Sword.

Ren Feiyang expressed his moral stance against harming women and children, but Qiu Huyu warned him that one's faith could be shattered, and he intended to demonstrate how one's mind could be twisted. Meanwhile, Shi Mingyan, mourning her slaughtered family in the forest, blamed herself for their deaths and the presumed demise of Ren Feiyang, vowing to repay him in the next life.

A masked Jia Ruo appeared, claiming to have a method for her to seek revenge against the Storm League. Shi Mingyan expressed her desire for revenge but doubted her ability to face Qiu Huyu alone. Jia Ruo reassured her he had a way to guarantee her revenge. Separately, Ming He offered Qiu Huyu a substantial sum as a deposit to kill Shu Jingrong, promising triple the amount upon completion.

Qiu Huyu, recognizing Ming He as the Mistress of the Moon Sect, questioned why she was personally engaging him. He also brought up his past act of helping Shu Jingrong escape the Shadow Sun Dagger on Jun Mountain, clarifying it was a return of favor for Shu Jingrong having once saved him from the Moon Sect. Ming He then demanded Shu Jingrong's head within half a month, asking why he wouldn't target Xiao Yiqing instead.

Qiu Huyu adamantly refused the task, stating that the memory of the Moon Sect massacring his entire family was still vivid, and the Storm League would never undertake tasks for them. Ming He warned that Snow Tower would launch a full-scale attack on the Storm League, and that allying with her was their best chance for survival, urging him to consider her offer.

Bi Luo, who had previously declined Xiao Yiqing's invitation to join Snow Tower due to his preference for freedom, made preparations to depart. Hong Chen bid him a reluctant farewell, expressing her sadness that Snow Tower would no longer hear his beautiful music. Meanwhile, Snow Tower strategized its next moves.

Xiao Yiqing planned to attack the Flower Palace, which was now under the Moon Sect, seeing it as a crucial preparatory step before confronting the Moon Sect itself, as it served as a natural barrier. Gao Mengfei volunteered to lead the assault on Flower Palace, arguing that the Tower Master and Lady Jing were needed at Snow Tower, especially with the Storm League observing their movements.

Chi Xiaotai supported Gao Mengfei and also volunteered to join the attack to share the burden, and Xiao Yiqing approved their plan. Chi Xiaotai later suggested that they leverage Ye Fengsha's connection to Bi Luo, her junior, to persuade him to join Snow Tower, believing his skills would be invaluable for their future attack on the Moon Sect. Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong intercepted Bi Luo as he attempted to leave.

Xiao Yiqing expressed his displeasure with people departing without farewell and insisted that their matters were not yet settled. Bi Luo, unyielding, challenged Xiao Yiqing to a bare-handed spar. Xiao Yiqing accepted, and after their exchange, Bi Luo admitted defeat. However, Xiao Yiqing considered it a tie and renewed his offer for Bi Luo to join Snow Tower. Bi Luo declined again, reiterating his preference for solitude and explaining that he had an important unresolved matter concerning Xiao Yin.

He revealed that when Xiao Yin passed away, the Flower Palace had sent people to retrieve her body, and this was the urgent task he must now undertake. He then departed, taking his qin with him, leaving Xiao Yiqing with a sense of helplessness. Ye Fengsha also bid Bi Luo farewell, with Bi Luo reiterating the urgency of his mission regarding Xiao Yin.
