Shu Jingrong and Liuzhu returned to Snow Tower, where Shu Jingrong immediately went to check on a frail Xiao Yiqing. Doctor Mo expressed his concern about Xiao Yiqing's relapsing illness, noting that the absence of the Moon Soul meant his internal cold poison could not be suppressed. Xiao Yiqing, however, reassured them, stating that the Moon Soul would be delivered to Snow Tower within days, if all went according to plan.
He then revealed that this was because Ming He had imprisoned Bing Ling in Red Lotus Prison, causing Gu Guang's discontent, which led him to ally with Snow Tower and agree to steal the Moon Soul. Xiao Yiqing then informed Shu Jingrong that the Guo Se Sword was forged and she would be in charge of the upcoming sword appreciation ceremony, as his current weak state would only fuel rumors if he were to appear.
He asked her to protect Snow Tower in his stead. Shu Jingrong, realizing her past error, apologized for doubting him regarding the Yin family massacre without fully understanding the situation. Xiao Yiqing dismissed her apology as "all in the past." He then explained that the ceremony's true purpose was to expose the Yin family murderer, warning her that the widespread rumors of the Guo Se Sword would cause chaos in the martial world, and urging her to maintain control.
Shu Jingrong nodded repeatedly, no longer doubting Xiao Yiqing, but instead increasingly seeing Nangong Wugou's true colors. Still concerned, she asked what if Nangong Wugou attempted to frame Snow Tower. Xiao Yiqing calmly asserted that Snow Tower's visible actions of saving the Yin family and adopting the orphan were their truth, and with Lady Yin as proof, they had nothing to fear.
Before Shu Jingrong left to discuss the ceremony with Nan Chu, Xiao Yiqing cautioned her about Nangong Wugou's cunning and preparations, emphasizing that her own safety was paramount, with Snow Tower's defense coming second. Shu Jingrong, deeply moved, responded that his safety was what mattered most to her. Soon after, Gao Mengfei and Chi Xiaotai arrived, asking Xiao Yiqing to mediate an urgent matter concerning the Sand Valley incident.
Chi Xiaotai complained that her constant arguments with Shu Jingrong were adding to Xiao Yiqing's burdens. She expressed doubts about Shu Jingrong's suitability to lead the ceremony, but Xiao Yiqing defended Shu Jingrong's qualifications as Lady of Snow Tower. Chi Xiaotai then insisted on resolving the Sand Valley incident that day, admitting she had invited Shu Jingrong for this purpose. Shu Jingrong questioned Chi Xiaotai's plan.
Chi Xiaotai declared her intention to follow Snow Tower's rules and Shu Jingrong's instructions, wishing for unity against their enemies. She dramatically knelt, offering to accept any punishment if Shu Jingrong still found her apology for Sand Valley insincere. When Shu Jingrong asked what if she still refused to forgive, Chi Xiaotai threatened to leave Snow Tower forever. Xiao Yiqing intervened, reminding Shu Jingrong that Chi Xiaotai had no one else and that he had a responsibility to protect her.
However, Shu Jingrong retorted that Chi Xiaotai was no longer a child and that true forgiveness came from one's own conscience. She then instructed Chi Xiaotai to patrol Snow Tower with disciples, as the ceremony was approaching and vigilance was needed. Chi Xiaotai agreed and left with Gao Mengfei.
After they departed, Xiao Yiqing apologized to Shu Jingrong for Chi Xiaotai's behavior, acknowledging the pain caused by the Sand Valley incident, but clarified that Moon Sect would have attacked Sand Valley regardless of the map. He expressed his hope that Shu Jingrong could let go of her hatred and join him in protecting Snow Tower amidst the looming chaos.
Meanwhile, Jia Ruo informed Ming He that only Gu Guang had left the mountain on the day the Moon Spirit went missing, returning due to the Blood Venom's attack. Jia Ruo deduced that the thief was prepared, likely a Snow Tower spy or traitor, and had probably hidden the Moon Spirit. Despite their secrecy, the thief likely suspected their knowledge. Ming He ordered a secret search of the Moon Palace and the arrest of any suspicious individuals.
Shortly after, a subordinate reported that Left Guardian Gu Guang was severely injured. Ming He and Jia Ruo found Gu Guang unconscious with a dead body nearby, but no Moon Spirit. Ming He noted that few in Moon Sect could defeat Gu Guang, implying a cunning, long-hidden infiltrator. Jia Ruo observed the strong needle wound on Gu Guang, suggesting a hurried fight. Ming He suspected multiple attackers and wondered if the culprit had already retrieved the Moon Spirit.
Jia Ruo suggested they announce the capture of a thief to make any accomplice nervous and reveal themselves. Ming He, frustrated by her past failures against Snow Tower and with Nangong Wugou, lamented her anxiety about the Guo Se Sword. Jia Ruo advised her not to panic and to maintain a low profile until he mastered the Xuan Yin Heart Sutra, promising to then deliver a heavy blow to Snow Tower.
Concurrently, Qingming informed Xiao Yiqing that Shu Jingrong's Supreme Flower Poison was set to activate on the day of the sword appreciation ceremony and was incurable. The only way to survive was by introducing another equally potent poison, which would cause immense pain as the two toxins battled within her. Qingming also warned that Shu Jingrong's fierce Blood Rose Sword practice, combined with the poisons, could cause her to lose control. Xiao Yiqing asked if there was a remedy.
Qingming suggested his own cold-natured internal energy could restrain the heat, but cautioned him about the risk to his already fragile health. Xiao Yiqing disregarded the warning, stating that Shu Jingrong must host the ceremony and nothing could happen to her. He personally brought the medicine to Shu Jingrong, reiterating the pain she would endure. Shu Jingrong drank it without hesitation and immediately felt an intense heat.
Xiao Yiqing began transferring his internal energy, but Shu Jingrong, losing control, struggled violently and attacked him, urging him to stop due to his own injuries. Xiao Yiqing explained that her Blood Rose swordplay's fiery energy, combined with the poisons, would make her lose her mind, and only his cold internal energy could suppress the burning heat. Shu Jingrong, worried, insisted she could handle it alone and urged him to leave.
Xiao Yiqing, however, told her that if he could no longer hold on, he wouldn't stay in Snow Tower a single day without her. He then resolutely pinned her down and kissed her, transferring his internal energy directly through his mouth. Shu Jingrong immediately calmed, becoming compliant and ceasing her struggles.
Ming He later confronted Qing Hui, blaming him for unilaterally making a deal with Nangong Wugou, reporting Nangong Wugou's alliance with anti-Snow Tower forces gathering in Luoyang to destroy Snow Tower. Ming He chastised Qing Hui for allowing Moon Sect to be manipulated. Qing Hui apologized, claiming Wugou had deceived him. Furious, Ming He dismissed Qing Hui from all Guo Se Sword matters.
She then assigned Gu Guang, who was recovering from his injuries, to assist Nangong Wugou and retrieve the Guo Se Sword, accusing Xiao Yiqing of the Yin family massacre and Liuzhu's imprisonment. Gu Guang vowed to succeed, but Ming He secretly ordered a subordinate to tail him, stating that everyone was a suspect until the traitor was found. In Snow Tower, Shu Jingrong was informed that hostile sects and Moon Sect followers were gathering in Luoyang.
She stressed the importance of keeping Xiao Yiqing's illness a secret and ordered Chi Xiaotai to reinforce defenses. At the sword appreciation ceremony, Shu Jingrong presided in Xiao Yiqing's absence. She swiftly quelled a dispute among guests, threatening a lifetime ban for those who defied Snow Tower. Nangong Wugou then challenged her, asking if the Guo Se Sword would truly go to whoever found the Yin family murderer, even if it was a powerful sect leader.
Shu Jingrong promised Snow Tower's unconditional support to avenge the Yin family, regardless of the murderer's status. Wugou, observing Xiao Yiqing's continued absence, deduced his severe weakness and saw his chance to expose Xiao Yiqing and avenge the Yin family. He met privately with Liuzhu, instructing her to act as an inside spy for the Nangong family to ensure Snow Tower's downfall, promising to marry her once her parents were avenged.
He further manipulated Liuzhu by falsely claiming he was at their pre-arranged meeting spot on the day of her family's massacre, feigning sorrow that he couldn't save her, and suggesting Snow Tower had erased evidence of the massacre. Liuzhu, trusting him, reaffirmed that he was her only reliance. After transferring his energy to Shu Jingrong, Xiao Yiqing fell into a coma. Shu Jingrong, tearful, discovered he had consumed Lovesick Tears, lamenting his secret suffering.
Chi Xiaotai burst in, angrily blaming Shu Jingrong for Xiao Yiqing's coma, calling her a "curse" who caused the deaths of many, including her own father, and was now killing Xiao Yiqing. Shu Jingrong realized Chi Xiaotai's earlier apology was a deception and the two had a very unpleasant argument. Shu Jingrong stated that Xiao Yiqing would decide on her forgiveness, but emphasized that she would protect Snow Tower, his legacy.
Chi Xiaotai defiantly retorted that she would not obey Shu Jingrong and was only concerned with not letting Shu Jingrong claim credit in front of Xiao Yiqing before storming out. Outside, Chi Xiaotai overheard Nangong Wugou and Liuzhu discussing their plot against Snow Tower, specifically planning to use the sword appreciation banquet as an opportunity for Nangong family to infiltrate. Chi Xiaotai confronted them, denouncing Liuzhu as ungrateful for betraying Snow Tower.
Liuzhu countered that Snow Tower had massacred her family and forced her to forge the Guo Se Sword, claiming it was all Xiao Yiqing's plot. As Chi Xiaotai attempted to attack, her arm faltered. Liuzhu revealed that she had been subtly poisoning Snow Tower's drinking water every four hours since the previous noon, ensuring no one noticed.
