Bai Di accepted Shu Jingrong as his disciple, taking temporary custody of the formidable Blood Rose Sword. He expressed his hope for her to live a life free from sorrow and danger, where the sword would never need to resurface. Bai Di then instructed Shu Jingrong to kneel and show respect to her new master before telling her that starting tomorrow, she would train alongside his two senior disciples, Qing Lan and Qing Yu.
Shu Jingrong, still concerned about Xiao Yiqing, inquired about him. Bai Di informed her that the Young Master of Snow Tower was badly injured and recuperating in his room, but his master, Xue Gu, would take him away the next day, never to return to Sand Valley. Later, Shu Jingrong secretly visited Xiao Yiqing, who lay asleep. She thanked him for his comfort the other day and explained her decision to stay and train.
Knowing he was leaving soon and unsure if they would ever meet again, she proposed a pinky promise: to meet again someday, and for him to stay healthy and free from illness. As she departed, Xiao Yiqing opened his eyes, watching her silhouette disappear. Shortly after, Xue Gu prepared to leave Sand Valley with Xiao Yiqing, accompanied by his disciple Nan Chu, to seek healing at Thermal Valley.
Bai Di bade farewell to his old friend, warning Xue Gu to be extra cautious and avoid any fights, as his vitality had been severely depleted from transferring power to Xiao Yiqing. Xue Gu, however, playfully dismissed Bai Di's nagging. Years passed, and the children grew into adults. Xiao Yiqing, now a refined young man, returned to Snow Tower with Nan Chu. They immediately sensed trouble as masked assassins descended upon them.
Xiao Yiqing, whose skills had matured significantly, effortlessly neutralized the attackers. As a few remaining assassins fled, they were intercepted by Mai Qiancheng, the Lord of Snow Tower. Mai Qiancheng decisively killed one and then approached Xiao Yiqing with a smile, welcoming him back and apologizing for the breach in security. Xiao Yiqing returned a polite smile, but noticed a hidden coldness in Mai Qiancheng’s eyes.
Xiao Yiqing then spoke with Nan Chu, who explained that ever since Xiao Yiqing's father, Xiao Shishui, battled Hua Lian ten years prior, he had fallen into a deep decline, neglecting the Tower's affairs. Mai Qiancheng, once Xiao Shishui’s most trusted subordinate, had since assumed total authority, effectively ruling Snow Tower as its de facto master.
Nan Chu revealed that the Tower's standing in the pugilistic world had waned, and with many external forces ready to strike, the true danger might lie within Snow Tower itself. Nan Chu reaffirmed his loyalty, assuring Xiao Yiqing he would stand by him through these perilous times.
Xiao Yiqing later visited his father, Xiao Shishui, who remained consumed by grief, endlessly drinking and staring at a portrait of Xue Wen, still mourning her "death sentence" by the Moon Sect years ago. Meanwhile, Hua Lian's Moon Sect flourished under the loyal guidance of her Left Guardian, Gu Guang, and Right Guardian, Qing Hui.
Hua Lian received news that the Crown Prince of King Zhen Nan was en route to Luoyang, expected to stay at the residence of Xie Li Zhou, the Head of Secretariat. She reflected on her own ten years of recuperation after her battle with Snow Tower and observed that the Tower's influence had diminished. She declared her intent for the Moon Sect to grow even stronger and remain glorious forever.
Later, Zi Mo, a Guardian of Snow Tower and Xie Li Zhou's fifth wife, came to meet Xiao Yiqing. She reported that Xie Li Zhou’s daughter, Xie Bing Yu, had been kidnapped by mountain bandits on her wedding day. Xie Li Zhou, a cautious man who valued his reputation and was expecting the Crown Prince to lodge at his residence, wished to avoid a public scandal.
He had secretly sought Snow Tower's help to rescue his daughter and ensure her safety. Nan Chu was impressed by Zi Mo's detailed knowledge, to which she reluctantly confessed her marital connection to Xie Li Zhou. Xiao Yiqing promptly accepted the commission. Concurrently, Xie Bing Yu, whose new husband had been brutally murdered by the bandits, was about to take her own life to preserve her honor when Qing Ming (Shu Jingrong) arrived.
Though Qing Ming bravely confronted the bandits, she was outmatched. Fortunately, Xiao Yiqing and Nan Chu arrived just in time, swiftly subduing the bandits. The bandits confessed to being hired with golden leaves. Qing Ming, realizing that Xiao Yiqing was the Young Tower Master, had a flashback to her childhood promise with him, but Xiao Yiqing did not recognize her.
Qing Ming then discreetly noticed Xiao Yiqing’s frail appearance and asked about his old illness, attributing her knowledge to her master being a master of medicine. She did not reveal their past connection, only stating she was on her way to visit her parents’ graves and intervened in the bandit attack out of a sense of justice.
Xiao Yiqing then informed Xie Bing Yu that her father, Xie Li Zhou, had already announced her death to preserve the family's reputation and would not allow her to return home. Xie Bing Yu, understanding her father's priorities, recounted how she had intended to take her own life with her treasured jasper hairpin—a gift from her father inscribed with virtues—to protect her purity, as a "dead virgin" was deemed better than a "stained daughter."
Qing Ming, hearing this, expressed her indignation at such heartless family rules. Xiao Yiqing then proposed a plan to publicly portray Xie Bing Yu’s "suicide" as an honorable act, thereby restoring the family's honor, and requested Qing Ming's cooperation, also needing the jasper hairpin. Xie Bing Yu, heartbroken by her father’s cold-hearted priorities, consented. Zi Mo then led Xie Bing Yu to a guest room, where Xie Bing Yu thanked Xiao Yiqing.
Separately, Nan Chu and Zi Mo discussed the golden leaves, with Zi Mo identifying them as unique coins from the Qian Family safe room, which had been robbed recently, raising suspicions about a larger conspiracy. Meanwhile, the Crown Prince's entourage was ambushed. Ye Huo, his female guard, blew her flute, signaling for help. Qing Lan, Bai Di's eldest disciple, swiftly appeared.
He explained that Bai Di had sent him to protect the Crown Prince after receiving a letter from the Queen Consort of King Zhen Nan about the dangers of the journey. Qing Lan had pre-arranged for the Crown Prince to take a hidden mountain route while his junior brother, Qing Yu, disguised himself as the Prince to divert Moon Sect assassins, drawing them out.
Back at Xie Residence, Xie Li Zhou publicly announced Xie Bing Yu's death to maintain his family's reputation. At the subsequent funeral, Xie Li Zhou put on a theatrical display of grief, though the coffin contained a substitute. Xiao Yiqing offered his condolences for the supposed failure of Snow Tower's mission to Xie Li Zhou. Xie Li Zhou tearfully accepted, lamenting the cruel world and his daughter’s fate. Xie Bing Yu, wearing a veil, watched her father’s performance from a distance, heartbroken by his cold-hearted priorities.
