Lei Chuyun, filled with remorse, confessed to his father, Lei Zhentian, that it was his fault for previously disobeying him and being misled by Shu Jingrong, thereby bringing calamity upon the Lei family. Shu Jingrong, however, immediately countered, asserting that the true culprits were the Lei family themselves. She argued that if Lei Zhentian hadn't colluded with the Moon Sect and supplied them with gunpowder, her Master and Qing Lan wouldn't have died at Sand Valley.

Furthermore, Lei family's treasonous actions endangered the entire nation. Xie Lizhou confirmed that all 36 members of the Lei family had been detained. Lei Zhentian then pleaded with Mister Xie, offering to bear full responsibility for his crimes if his family were spared. Xiao Yiqing intervened, stating that the Imperial Court alone would determine guilt. Enraged, Lei Zhentian accused Xiao Yiqing of deliberately detaining niter and delaying the gunpowder production, thereby endangering the frontier soldiers.

Mister Xie quickly refuted this, explaining that Snow Tower had already delivered a batch of gunpowder to the front line, which, though less powerful than Lei's, had alleviated the immediate crisis. He urged Lei Zhentian to hand over the secret gunpowder formula to the Imperial Court as an act of atonement, which might earn him mercy from His Highness and save the Lei family from annihilation. Lei Zhentian agreed, requesting a moment to deal with some family affairs.

In the study, Lei Zhentian gave a copy of the Lei family's secret gunpowder method to Lei Chuyun, instructing him to deliver it to Mister Xie. Lei Chuyun was reluctant, arguing it was their family's foundation, but Lei Zhentian insisted it was their only way to save the family.

After Lei Chuyun left the study to hand over the formula, Lei Zhentian ingested poison and attempted to burn a martial arts manual (likely the Burning Heaven Dragon Yang Heart Sutra) before collapsing on his desk. Lei Chuyun and Mister Xie, hearing the commotion, rushed in to find Lei Zhentian dead. Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong also arrived. Lei Chuyun was overcome with grief, loudly accusing Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong of his father's death.

Mister Xie ordered the guards to take the distraught Lei Chuyun away and to clean up the scene. Shu Jingrong took Lei family's martial arts manual and left with Xiao Yiqing. Meanwhile, the Moon Sect's search for Ming He proved fruitless, much to Hua Lian's frustration.

Learning that Snow Tower had effectively cut off their gunpowder supply by annihilating Thunderbolt Hall (Lei family), Hua Lian decided to leave the palace personally with her men to search for Ming He, entrusting temporary leadership to a subordinate. Doctor Mo, examining Gao Mengfei, discovered he was poisoned with Blood Venom, a powerful and rare venom containing a chronic cold poison.

He explained that only the elusive Azure Azalea, unseen for a century, could cure it, warning that activating inner energy before the venom's expulsion could be fatal. Xiao Yiqing, upon hearing this, deduced that someone within the Moon Sect had begun secretly practicing the Xuan Yin Heart Sutra, a supreme martial art. In the Vermillion Palace, Hua Lian visited Xue Wen, whose condition had worsened. Hua Lian attempted to appeal to their past sisterhood, reminiscing about their youth.

However, Xue Wen's mind remained fixated on Xiao Shishui, further fueling Hua Lian's anger at Xue Wen for betraying the Moon Sect and giving the Xuan Yin Heart Sutra to an outsider. Unmoved, Xue Wen repeated a prophecy: "When the moon flowers bloom, the lotus in the lake will rot. The green dragon rises from the water, circling the full moon terrace."

Hua Lian, enraged by this ominous prediction of calamity, declared that as both the leader and High Priest of the Moon Sect, she would defy fate and render the prophecy meaningless. Zi Mo informed Xiao Yiqing that Mister Xie had been imprisoned for life due to bribery but had successfully intervened to save the Lei family from a death sentence, instead securing their exile.

Xiao Yiqing expressed concern that even if the Imperial Court spared them, the Moon Sect might not. Zi Mo also reported that the Long family of South Sea had cultivated Azure Azaleas a few years prior, and she had already dispatched someone to request the flowers for Gao Mengfei's treatment. The Lei family embarked on their journey of exile, with Lei Chuyun and Lei Chuyu among them.

As they left, fireworks, made from the Lei family's gunpowder by Xiao Yiqing, lit up the city sky. Lei Chuyun watched the display with bitterness, finding it a cruel irony and believing his heart was consumed by hatred.

Shu Jingrong asked Xiao Yiqing if he intended for Lei Chuyun to understand his message through the fireworks – that gunpowder could be used for destruction or for joy, depending on choice – but noted that Lei Chuyun's heart was too full of hatred to comprehend it. Xiao Yiqing then told Shu Jingrong that her return to Snow Tower was her own decision.

Later, Huang Quan reported to Xiao Yiqing that the Lei family's exiled procession had been ambushed and massacred by the Moon Sect. He had arrived too late, and only Lei Chuyun had fallen off a cliff during the chaos, his fate uncertain. Xiao Yiqing ordered Huang Quan to find Lei Chuyun, whether dead or alive. Elsewhere, Lei Chuyun was being pursued by Moon Sect assassins when Shu Jingrong arrived, dispatching his pursuers and saving his life.

Lei Chuyun, in agony, declared his hatred for both Snow Tower and the Moon Sect, vowing revenge for his family's slaughter. Shu Jingrong acknowledged her role in the Lei family's downfall, admitting she had used and lied to him, and that his affection for her had contributed to their demise. She then handed him the Lei family's secret martial arts manual, daring him to remember his hatred and telling him that she and Snow Tower would await his revenge.

Lei Chuyun then searched for his father's body in the outskirts. Huang Quan found him and pointed to Lei Zhentian's newly made grave. As Lei Chuyun wept over his father's resting place, Huang Quan swiftly drew his sword and pierced Lei Chuyun's chest, ending his life. Upon learning that Shu Jingrong had saved Lei Chuyun and given him the Lei family's martial arts manual, Xiao Yiqing became furious.

He accused her of leaving future trouble, reminding her of past mistakes and asserting that Snow Tower's rules were not to be challenged and he preferred to leave no loose ends. Shu Jingrong argued that Lei Chuyun was now a cripple and posed no threat to Snow Tower. She also stated, "I was careless last time. I never saw you for being this ruthless." Their disagreement escalated into a confrontation.
