> Jade's Fateful Love Recap

Following a recent assassination attempt, Zhou Shiyu is heavily occupied with his duties and keeps his plans largely secret from Yueling. One day, after hearing Xingyi mention that Zhou Shiyu planned to visit someone named Li, Yueling discreetly follows him. Her pursuit leads her to a military camp where she is mistaken for a spy and brought before Zhou Shiyu. Inside the camp, Zhou Shiyu is checking on Wang Xiaoli, a soldier who was injured while testing new weapons.

Zhou Shiyu expresses his concern for Wang Xiaoli's injury and commends his bravery by awarding him a merit for his role in discovering a problem with a previous batch of weapons. Zhou Shiyu reveals to Yueling that he knew she was following him. Seeing that she is present, he decides not to hide his activities any longer. Zhou Shiyu explains the true purpose of his presence in Liuzhou.

While publicly engaged in disaster relief, his secret mission is to oversee the progress of the military base's weapon manufacturing. He describes the dire political situation in Beishuo, where the powerful Prime Minister holds significant sway over the physically weak Emperor. Zhou Shiyu and the Emperor have been secretly plotting to build their strength to eventually remove the Prime Minister. The marriage alliance with Dongyu is part of this plan.

However, the Prime Minister is determined to prevent the alliance, constantly sending assassins to target Yueling in hopes of sparking a war between the two nations for his own gain. Yueling finally understands that Zhou Shiyu's earlier pretense of being unassuming was a strategic move to deceive the Prime Minister and conceal his true capabilities.

Zhou Shiyu apologizes for involving her in such danger, but Yueling reassures him, stating that she will always support him and help him achieve his goal of preventing war and ensuring peace between Dongyu and Beishuo. She emphasizes that their connection brings about extraordinary events and that they need each other. Meanwhile, Xingyi finds himself restless after being kissed by Su Nian. Unsettled, he decides to confront Su Nian directly about her feelings.

When he enters her room, he openly asks if she likes him. Su Nian, finding it difficult to give a direct refusal, admits that she likes him. Filled with excitement, Xingyi hugs and kisses her, leaving Su Nian flustered and unsure how to react. Determined to help with the disaster relief efforts, Yueling bakes numerous tea cakes and personally visits the wealthy merchants who had promised donations. Using Zhou Shiyu's influence, she successfully pressures them to fulfill their pledges.

With substantial funds secured, the reconstruction efforts in Liuzhou are largely settled. Zhou Shiyu informs Yueling that preparations have been made for their return to the Capital City in three days. However, their plans are interrupted when a mysterious illness suddenly spreads rapidly throughout Liuzhou. Even Zhou Zhixuan, the South Prince, falls ill. Zhou Shiyu immediately opens his private residence to serve as a temporary clinic for the infected. Physicians are summoned to diagnose the illness.

After initial examinations, they conclude it is not a typical epidemic but need more time to determine the cause. As the number of infected people grows, panic grips the city, and many uninfected residents attempt to flee. Nie Chen advises Zhou Shiyu to take Yueling and leave before the city is completely sealed off. Zhou Shiyu refuses to abandon the people, stating his responsibility to them and regretting that Yueling must face this danger with him.

He orders Nie Chen to escort Yueling back to the Capital City. Yueling, however, pleads with Zhou Shiyu not to send her away, asserting that she only feels secure by his side and that her life would be meaningless if something were to happen to him. Moved by her words, Zhou Shiyu agrees that they will stay and confront the situation together.

While everyone is focused on treatment, Su Nian develops a red rash on her arm, showing signs of infection. She confronts Lingxi, directly asking if she poisoned the city's water wells. Lingxi confirms that it was a mission assigned to them. Xingyi also becomes very weak but remains concerned about Su Nian. When he visits her room, Su Nian acts distant and asks him to leave, hoping her coldness will keep him away and safe from harm.

Nie Chen's investigation confirms that the city's water wells were indeed poisoned, causing the widespread illness. Physicians later confirm the illness is caused by a poison. Zhou Shiyu immediately orders the physicians to work tirelessly to find an antidote. Su Nian takes out the last bottle of antidote she possesses, determined to give it to Xingyi, despite Lingxi's attempts to stop her.

Lingxi questions Su Nian's decision, reminding her of their obligations to their Master and the potential consequences of failing their mission. Su Nian, however, prioritizes saving Xingyi's life and declares that she cannot bring herself to harm innocent people for the sake of their mission, even if it means defying her Master. Zhou Zhixuan's condition deteriorates severely. He implores Zhou Shiyu to ensure he receives a dignified funeral should he not survive and relies on him to find the antidote.

Facing the dire situation and the lack of a cure, Zhou Shiyu suggests to Yueling that they attempt a "rebirth" by drinking poisoned wine, hoping their unique connection through the jade pendants will allow them to find a treatment method. They activate the jade pendants and are transported into the future. They find themselves in the palace during a banquet being held in Zhou Shiyu's honor, celebrating the successful resolution of the Liuzhou crisis.

The Emperor mentions that Zhou Shiyu and Yueling found the Red Rhizoma and used it to create the antidote. During the banquet, Yueling is confronted by Zhou Shiyu's cousin, Gao Luoyi, who insults her character and demands she break off her engagement with Zhou Shiyu. They are then transported back to the present in Liuzhou.

Realizing the jade pendants took them to the future, possibly influenced by the blood on them, Yueling recognizes "Red Rhizoma" as a medicinal herb from the snowy mountains in Dongyu. Considering the cold, mountainous environment in Liuzhou, they deduce that Red Rhizoma might also grow there. Despite her exhaustion, Yueling insists on accompanying Zhou Shiyu to the mountains to search for the Red Rhizoma, refusing to rest.

Xingyi, though still weak, tells Su Nian that he doesn't mind if she doesn't love him, as he will always care for her because she was his first friend in the Capital City. He feels somewhat better after eating the porridge she gave him. Yueling arrives and shares the news that they have learned the key to finding an antidote.

She tells Xingyi that she and Zhou Shiyu will go into the mountains the next day to search for the Red Rhizoma. Xingyi encourages them to go, assuring them that this minor poison won't kill him and that he is already feeling better.
