Yu Luxi's father returned home to find Lin Nan and Yu Luxi in an intimate embrace. He sternly questioned their relationship. Lin Nan explained they were formerly mentor and apprentice, then a couple, and now are just in a normal relationship. Yu Luxi quickly affirmed they were together, but her father chastised her for speaking.
Yu Luxi then explained they were merely "rehearsing" for a new job, with Lin Nan confirming this, claiming he was just staying for two days on the sofa and planned to leave after the rehearsal. The father, however, remained skeptical, questioning if their "rehearsal" would extend through the night or even to the next day.
After understanding that the two might truly be in a proper relationship, Yu Luxi's father casually invited Lin Nan to stay longer, which Lin Nan unhesitatingly accepted, much to Yu Luxi's confusion about his intentions. The father then, staring intently, revealed his culinary specialty was "Stewed Lin Nan." He insisted Lin Nan sleep in his bedroom, stating it was to get to know him better.
Yu Luxi protested her father's actions, but he claimed it was for her own good, questioning how well she truly knew Lin Nan's past, particularly details like his kindergarten deskmate or junior high teacher. That night, Yu Luxi's father engaged Lin Nan in a lengthy conversation, interrogating him about his romantic history from kindergarten through college, brushing off Yu Luxi's attempts to get them to sleep.
The next morning, Yu Luxi prepared a lavish breakfast for them, a first in over twenty years, deeply moving her father. He then deliberately asked Lin Nan why he hadn't made breakfast, to which Lin Nan reminded him of their late-night chat. Yu Luxi defended Lin Nan, stating he usually took care of breakfast, and this was her first time.
Lin Nan also detailed his cooking skills, mentioning toast, eggs, salad, ham, milk, and also hot soy milk, fried dough sticks, and crepes. Later, Lin Nan presented Yu Luxi with a new studio, explaining he had rented it for them to start their new venture, and called it a gift.
Yu Luxi was thrilled, but when Lin Nan said he would "cover her," she playfully declared herself an independent woman who wanted to "manage him" as an equal partner in their new venture, ordering him around like a boss. Later that day, Yu Luxi's father called Yu Xiaotian on the phone, instructing him to take Yu Luxi out that evening so he could conduct a private "test" on Lin Nan.
During dinner, the three men sat together, and the father proposed a toast. Lin Nan initially suggested waiting for Yu Luxi, but Yu Xiaotian revealed he had intentionally kept his sister away and that she didn't drink, encouraging them to proceed. A drinking contest ensued. Yu Xiaotian, understanding his uncle's intentions, tried to help Lin Nan by taking drinks for him and attempting to get the father to drink more.
However, despite the father repeatedly kicking him under the table to make him drink, Yu Xiaotian's efforts ultimately angered the father. Feeling he had "screwed up" and dejected, Yu Xiaotian left for school, hoping coffee would sober him up. At the cafe, Yu Xiaotian ran into Liang Yiyi, who was upset he had missed their study session. Yu Xiaotian, tipsy and dejected, confessed he'd forgotten and felt useless.
Liang Yiyi eagerly offered to make him coffee, despite his skepticism about her abilities. She clumsily attempted to grind beans and brew coffee, with Yu Xiaotian's guidance. As they leaned in to smell the coffee, they were in close proximity, causing Liang Yiyi's heart to pound. Before departing, she told Yu Xiaotian she thought he was "particularly useful" and "the best." Yu Xiaotian later reflected on Liang Yiyi's words, realizing his strong feelings for her.
When Yu Luxi returned home, she found both Lin Nan and her father passed out drunk. She roused her father, who, barely coherent, called Yu Xiaotian a "traitor" for his poor performance in the drinking test. Yu Luxi asserted her trust in her own judgment of Lin Nan and told her father not to interfere anymore. Her father conceded, telling her to take care of Lin Nan and went to bed.
The next morning, Lin Nan woke up in Yu Luxi's room, panicking about her father's reaction. Yu Luxi calmed him, revealing that her father had tacitly approved their relationship and would no longer meddle. Overjoyed, Lin Nan jokingly declared his official "move-in" and playfully chased Yu Luxi for a "contract stamp," implying a kiss. Later, at the library, Liang Yiyi and Yu Xiaotian unexpectedly met while choosing textbooks.
Yu Xiaotian surprised Liang Yiyi by playing a recording of her own voice. He explained it was for his graduate project, an Artificial Intelligence Sound System, and declared his intention to record all her voice-overs and let the world hear them. Liang Yiyi, who could tell Xiaotian still cared about her, was touched by his gesture and asked if he was confessing his feelings to her.
