Xing Si suddenly collapsed, poisoned. His symptoms were similar to Su's poisoning case from many years ago, but thankfully, his life was not in immediate danger. They needed to quickly summon Doctor Hu, a renowned expert in detoxification from the Martial Arts World. Shaoyi was dispatched immediately to fetch the doctor.
Meanwhile, the Wuyi Guards apprehended Yuan Da from the kitchen, identifying him as a fugitive from the Wuyi Guards who, according to Xing Si's past testimony, had poisoned Su years ago. Duan Yu intended to take Yuan Da away for interrogation, but Gu Qingqiao intervened. She argued that if Yuan Da were a fugitive, he wouldn't remain in a house full of Wuyi Guards, let alone cook for them.
She firmly believed he wouldn't poison anyone and offered to make him reveal the truth if left in her care. Duan Yu ultimately agreed to let Yuan Da stay in the Gu Residence. Gu Qingqiao went to speak with Yuan Da but discovered that Dongxi had already helped him escape. Gu Qingqiao initially stalled, suggesting they wait until Xing Si woke up. Duan Yu revealed that Xing Si was already awake but was acting erratically, to which Gu Qingqiao jokingly remarked that was great before quickly correcting herself, saying it was great he was awake. When Duan Yu insisted on questioning Yuan Da, Gu Qingqiao finally admitted that Yuan Da had run away.
She reiterated her belief in Yuan Da's innocence and offered to lead Duan Yu to him if he promised not to kill him. Duan Yu agreed, acknowledging her surprising nature. It turned out Xing Si's poisoning was from secretly eating the mushrooms, and he had indeed recovered from the immediate effects. Shaoyi told Miss Ruoyun that Xing Si wrote dialogue novels, and Ruoyun praised his writing.
Shaoyi suggested a business partnership where Xing Si wrote and Shaoyi would handle copying and selling, splitting the profits. Xing Si complained that Duan Yu took all his money, leading Shaoyi and Ruoyun to joke about Duan Yu being a "scumbag." After a long journey, Gu Qingqiao and Duan Yu found Yuan Da. Yuan Da explained that years ago, Su's death was a suicide by poisoning after being caught stealing, not murder by him.

Duan Yu officially cleared Yuan Da's name and cancelled his warrant, freeing him from hiding. Yuan Da, grateful, offered his service to Duan Yu. Wishing to spend more time with Duan Yu and deepen their relationship, Gu Qingqiao decided to work at Qingfeng Restaurant daily.
She pressured Xing Si to find her a part-time job at the Chamber of Commerce behind the restaurant, threatening to tell Duan Yu about Xing Si secretly meeting Ruoyun and speaking ill of her. Xing Si reluctantly agreed. Gu Qingqiao started spending her days near Duan Yu, even researching recipes near him.
