When Gu Qingqiao was imprisoned, she worried if Young Master Shaoyi had been rescued. A guard confirmed that the Duan family had found him and he seemed to be unharmed. Gu Qingqiao asked to see Duan Yu, offering money from Qingfeng Restaurant, but the guard refused, saying he couldn't afford to collect money there. Mr. Qi later relayed His Lordship's order to the guards to torture Gu Qingqiao to force her to confess why she kidnapped Shaoyi.

Gu Qingqiao repeatedly denied kidnapping him, stating they were both kidnapped by the Mantra Sect. Hearing it was His Lordship who ordered the torture, she asked if Duan Yu knew, and the guard mocked her for still thinking of him. However, the Magistrate sent an order to stop the interrogation for the day and postpone it. Meanwhile, Gu Qingqiao's father, Gu Xingwu, went to Qingfeng Restaurant, planning to take all the cash to bribe officials to help his daughter.

Yang Chunfeng arrived with government officers, announcing that the Magistrate had sealed Qingfeng Restaurant and appointed him its manager. He declared that not a single grain of rice could be taken, as everything there could be evidence of Gu Qingqiao's collusion with the Mantra Sect. Gu Xingwu, enraged, was forced to leave with his helpers. Dongxi arrived shortly after, reporting that the family home had also been ransacked and looted.

Gu Xingwu was devastated, his plans to help Gu Qingqiao now impossible. Duan Yu and Mr. Qi visited Gu Qingqiao in prison. Gu Qingqiao was relieved to see Duan Yu and insisted she did not kidnap Shaoyi and knew nothing of the Mantra Sect, believing he would trust her.

Duan Yu revealed that an ancient prophecy from the Divine Palace foretold that a 'Star of Rebellion' would help the Sacred Blood Sect return and destroy the Duan family, and that she was that Star of Rebellion, meaning they were destined enemies. Gu Qingqiao was deeply hurt, realizing his past actions, including his offer of marriage, were merely tests.

She felt foolish for believing she could melt his icy heart and for thinking their connection was genuine, concluding that everything was a pretext because of the prophecy that she would destroy his family. Mr. Qi suggested torture due to her stubbornness, but Duan Yu objected, saying it would be counterproductive as she had no martial arts skills. He urged her to reveal everything she knew about the Sacred Blood Sect, giving her three days to consider.

Before he left, Gu Qingqiao asked if he had ever had feelings for her; his silence confirmed her fears. Duan Yu learned from Mr. Qi that his brother, His Lordship Duan Yan, planned to execute Gu Qingqiao in three days for colluding with evil sects and attempting to murder Young Master Shaoyi. Duan Yu devised a plan to rescue her during the execution and send her somewhere safe.

He understood His Lordship knew Gu Qingqiao had little information about the Sacred Blood Sect but intended to use the public execution of the prophesied 'Star of Rebellion' as bait to lure the remaining Sacred Blood Sect members out. Duan family forces would then collaborate with the government to trap and eliminate them.

Mr. Qi calculated that they would need to withstand the Sacred Blood Sect for two hours until their Blood Technique, which boosts power using limited blood supply, would fail. Duan Yu also mentioned hiring experts from outside the region to assist with the rescue.

Later, His Lordship Duan Yan pressed Duan Yu about his impending marriage to Du Ruoyun, stating it must proceed as a political alliance, regardless of Duan Yu's feelings, adding he could take a woman he loved as a concubine later. His Lordship insisted Gu Qingqiao must be killed due to the prophecy.

Duan Yu wrestled with his dilemma, caught between loyalty to his family and his feelings for Gu Qingqiao, feeling there was no way to save both his family and her. Young Master Shaoyi regained consciousness and immediately expressed concern for Gu Qingqiao, urging Ruoyun to help rescue her. His Lordship Duan Yan visited Shaoyi and told him that Gu Qingqiao, in league with the Mantra Sect, had kidnapped and injured him, and that Duan Yu's timely arrival saved him.

Shaoyi corrected him, stating he was kidnapped alongside Gu Qingqiao and that she had covered for him, allowing him to escape, and called her his savior. His Lordship dismissed Shaoyi's account, stating the government had already decided the matter and forbade Shaoyi from leaving his room, instructing Ruoyi to keep him confined. Shaoyi protested, recalling his father's teachings on justice and repaying kindness, but His Lordship was firm.

The night before her scheduled execution, a messenger from Lu Zizheng visited Gu Qingqiao in prison, relaying a message that his master, Lu Zizheng, would come to save her. Later, Duan Yu brought Gu Qingqiao a dish of braised pork he claimed to have made himself, apologizing and saying it was the only way, and that after tomorrow, everything would return to normal. Gu Qingqiao remarked that perhaps this outcome was for the best.

Suddenly, she coughed up blood, revealing the food was poisoned. Duan Yu quickly carried her out of the surprisingly unwarded prison towards a doctor. Gu Qingqiao told him he had fallen into her trap, threw away her ring and the hairpin he had given her, and expressed her wish that she had never met him again. Duan Yu was then knocked unconscious and tied to a tree.

His Lordship Duan Yan, finding Duan Yu incapacitated, ordered him to pursue Gu Qingqiao and find her, demanding she be brought back dead or alive. Gu Qingqiao, drifting in and out of consciousness, had a vision of Master Kongkong. The master revealed the flower-shaped mark on her ankle was her life symbol in this world, and if it turned completely black, she would die and be unable to return to her original world.

He told her the only way back was through the Four Treasures and instructed her to go west to Xiling to find the Black Wood Human-shaped Sword. Later, Gu Qingqiao woke up and spoke with Lu Zizheng. He confirmed her father was safe and in high spirits after hearing of her escape, and that Dongxi and Da were with him, even adding meat to their meals in celebration.

Gu Qingqiao expressed gratitude for her helpers' loyalty but questioned Lu Zizheng's identity and his ability to freely travel anywhere, including previously being hidden in her family's wine cellar and requiring her help to leave the city. She asked why he repeatedly sought her out and even saved her. Lu Zizheng replied that his identity was not important; what mattered was hers.

Gu Qingqiao went to the Acacia Tree where she and Duan Yu had buried a charm representing their bond. Finding the spot disturbed, she realized Duan Yu had stopped trusting her long ago and sadly threw away the charm.
