Gu Nanzhou was furious with Zhou Jianqing, who admitted she had accidentally thrown his Rubik's Cube into the trash. She apologized profusely and offered to compensate him, but he questioned if she could afford it, emphasizing how many times he had told her not to touch his belongings and threatening to make her move out. Zhang Yin quickly intervened, pulling Zhou Jianqing away and questioning Gu Nanzhou's harsh treatment of his fiancée.
Gu Nanzhou retorted that their relationship was none of Zhang Yin's business and ordered him to leave his house. As Zhang Yin tried to lead Zhou Jianqing away, she insisted it was a misunderstanding. Jiang Xiaochuan then arrived and, upon learning the cause of the argument, revealed the Rubik's Cube was an irreplaceable memento from Gu Nanzhou’s late brother, who passed away over a decade ago, making it deeply significant to him.
Zhang Yin, concerned, asked if Gu Nanzhou always treated her so harshly. Zhou Jianqing denied it, but Zhang Yin, unconvinced, stated he saw how scared she was and urged her to leave Gu Nanzhou. To free herself up to search for the lost cube, Zhou Jianqing then asked Zhang Yin to go to the office in her stead to convey their amendment plan to their boss, promising to treat him to a meal later.
Zhou Jianqing went to the community trash collection area to search for the Rubik's Cube. Later, she met Zhang Yin, who informed her that the boss was very pleased with her revised comic proposal and that she could proceed with her own creative amendments. Meanwhile, Gu Nanzhou successfully finalized a significant deal with Bule Ray, a landmark achievement for local animation. He then canceled his afternoon meetings to go home. He called property management, who informed him that a young woman had already found the Rubik's Cube that morning.
Upon returning home, Gu Nanzhou found the cube on his table, accompanied by a note from Zhou Jianqing apologizing for not realizing its profound importance to him. Later that evening, Zhou Jianqing and Zhang Yin were busy working on their drafts in the library. During the tussle, Gu Nanzhou abruptly turned, bringing their faces incredibly close. Zhou Jianqing finally wrested the phone from him and confronted him about the deleted message. As Gu Nanzhou blushed and denied her accusations, Zhou Jianqing mocked his "collapsed" image but professionally assured him she would keep his "secret" for a price. Frustrated, Gu Nanzhou then attempted to restrain her by tying her up.
