Lu Wanwan, preparing for a high school reunion where classmates would attend in pairs, impulsively asked Ren Chu to be her boyfriend. Fearing rejection, she quickly rephrased the request as a "One-Day Couple Experience Card," asking him to be her fake date for the event. To her surprise, Ren Chu agreed. Back home, Lu Wanwan told her friend Gu Qiao about the incident.
Gu Qiao insisted that Lu Wanwan's initial, unfiltered request revealed her true feelings and urged her to seize the opportunity. Gu Qiao noted that for a famously aloof top student like Ren Chu to agree, Lu Wanwan might be the "chosen one," and at the very least, bringing him to the reunion would earn her major bragging rights. At the reunion, An Jiaxian arrived with Liang Xia, surprising classmates who thought he and Lu Wanwan would be together.
Liang Xia corrected them, announcing that Lu Wanwan admired Ren Chu. At that moment, Ren Chu arrived with Lu Wanwan and declared that he was the one who had pursued her, claiming it was love at first sight. They made their performance convincing by affectionately feeding each other, making their former classmates envious. After dinner, as Ren Chu walked her home, Lu Wanwan discovered she had forgotten her keys.
With her parents away and the dorms closed, she decided they should spend the night at a nearby internet cafe, choosing it over a hotel for its low price and snack selection. While there, Gu Qiao called, dismayed that Lu Wanwan had chosen a net cafe for a night with Ren Chu, and warned her not to let them "become buddies again." Gu Qiao advised her to find a shared activity to build their connection.
However, when Lu Wanwan returned to their private room, she found Ren Chu had already planned an activity: a surprise English tutoring session with a CET-6 practice test. When Lu Wanwan eventually dozed off while studying, Ren Chu watched over her as she slept. A few days later, Lu Wanwan received a call for help from Wang Xinyu, who had gotten her head stuck in a school fence. Lu Wanwan and Ren Chu rushed to help but couldn't free her.
Ren Chu had to call Meng Xibai, who finally managed to pry the bars apart. Following the rescue, Wang Xinyu tried to reconcile with Meng Xibai, offering him a rabbit she called "the fruit of our love." Meng Xibai coldly rejected her, telling her to focus on her dancing and dismissing her dramatic lament about snowfall as merely duck down from her torn jacket.
Soon after, Wang Xinyu's mother arrived and, upon seeing Lu Wanwan with Ren Chu, asked about their relationship. To Lu Wanwan's surprise, Ren Chu introduced her as his "girlfriend-to-be," a piece of "good news" the mother was eager to share with relatives. Later, as Ren Chu walked her home again, Lu Wanwan mentioned her boredom during the long winter vacation. Seizing the opportunity, Ren Chu invited her to the Haichang Ocean Park, offering to teach her about marine life.
Following Gu Qiao’s advice, Lu Wanwan dressed up and wore waterproof makeup, anticipating a romantic date. Her hopes were dashed when they were unexpectedly joined by Wang Yuyang. Though initially disappointed, Lu Wanwan had a moment of clarity, deciding that she could be brave and actively pursue her feelings for Ren Chu, regardless of the outcome.
She later found Ren Chu, who explained he had been looking for her and that he'd run into Wang Yuyang at the entrance by chance after Wang Yuyang's own friends had bailed on him. No longer upset, Lu Wanwan embraced her new perspective on love, stating, "I don't care about the gain or loss. . . I just move towards the direction of my heart." Their day ended on a final comical note when they realized they had missed the dolphin show, having misread the 14:00 showtime as 4:00 p. m.
