Fall in Love Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Jing Zhixia, who holds the title of General Manager and inherited Aizhe Hotel from her father, operates under the temporary oversight of her maternal uncle, Jian Qian, who serves as the acting General Manager. One day, she received a call from a saleswoman, Liu Jie, who excitedly informed her about the availability of a limited-edition crocodile skin handbag. Jing Zhixia quickly made plans to purchase it, but her cousin, Jian Bufan, intervened.
He expressed his father Jian Qian’s displeasure with her consistent 9-to-5 schedule and found her early departure even more unacceptable, urging her to wait until after official working hours. Jing Zhixia, however, insisted she was attending to "important business," a claim Jian Bufan found exasperating, knowing it was merely for a bag. He reminded her that Fu Zeyi, the CEO of Fanmu Home, was expected to arrive that afternoon and that Jian Qian wanted her to personally welcome him.
Jing Zhixia countered that her uncle, as the acting General Manager, was the more appropriate host. Just then, Jian Qian appeared, chastising Jing Zhixia for attempting to leave early and emphasizing the importance of top management receiving such a significant client to prevent them from canceling their stay due to dissatisfaction. Sensing her uncle's fondness for flattery, Jing Zhixia showered him with compliments, calling him Aizhe’s most experienced and respectable leader.
Pleased, Jian Qian agreed to handle the reception, allowing Jing Zhixia to slip away. As she reached the underground parking lot, Jing Zhixia was stunned to see Lin, her boyfriend who had vanished a year prior, accompanied by another woman. An earlier investigation report indicated no record of a person named Lin, leading her to believe she had been deceived. A painful memory flashed back: after a night together, Lin had left her money, making her feel insulted and used.
Overwhelmed with anger, Jing Zhixia learned that Lin and the woman were heading to the presidential suite. She quickly obtained a master key from reception and confronted the woman in the suite, angrily warning her about Lin’s deceptive nature. The woman, introducing herself as Ai Xin, his assistant and attorney, calmly explained that the man in the shower was Fu Zeyi, the CEO of Fanmu Home, and that he was still single.
She advised Jing Zhixia against unauthorized entry and warned of legal action if she continued. When Fu Zeyi emerged, Jing Zhixia instantly recognized him as Lin, but he claimed never to have met her. Ai Xin reiterated that he was Fu Zeyi, but Jing Zhixia dismissed it as another one of his elaborate schemes. At that moment, Jian Qian arrived, extending a warm welcome to Fu Zeyi.
To their astonishment, Ai Xin produced a legal document, accusing Aizhe Hotel of infringing on Fanmu's furniture designs and demanding fifty million yuan in compensation, threatening court action otherwise. Both Jian Qian and Jing Zhixia were taken aback; their planned hospitality had turned into a lawsuit. Back at the hotel, Jian Bufan rebuked his father for purchasing knock-off furniture for the hotel’s renovation.
Jian Qian admitted he had done so to cut costs, but the distributor he sourced from had sold him counterfeit goods and was now unreachable. Jian Qian, known for his tactic of stalling, suggested dragging out the lawsuit for a year or more until the other party gave up. However, Jian Bufan warned that Fu Zeyi was a ruthless and uncompromising opponent. Jing Zhixia then recalled her first meeting with the gentle man she knew as Lin.
She had booked an entire cinema for a private screening, only to find him already there. The manager explained that he was the film's music composer. When the sound system failed mid-movie, Lin shared his headphones with her, playing his own score and narrating the story with a deep understanding of the music's emotional connection to the plot. Captivated, she joined him for dinner afterward.
On a whim, she asked him to write a song just for her, and to her surprise, he agreed to have it ready by the next day. Wondering how that gentle, considerate man could transform into the cold, arrogant Fu Zeyi, she decided she couldn't let this "scumbag" disrupt her life any longer and resolved to pay the fifty million yuan to settle the matter quickly.
Jian Qian, however, lamented that the hotel's accounts did not hold such a large sum due to operational costs, advance payments, and other expenses, including some minor investments he made with hotel shares. Jing Zhixia then decided she would find a way to raise the money, even if it meant selling her shares. Jian Bufan, who overheard her phone conversation about selling shares, confronted her.
He pleaded with her not to, emphasizing that her father had painstakingly built the hotel and that her mother had wished for the Jing family to retain management rights. He also revealed that word of her confrontation with Fu Zeyi had spread so fast that even Ms. Hao, the cleaner, knew about it. He asked if she still longed for the man, reminding her that their relationship had lasted less than a week.
Jing Zhixia insisted she was fine and urged him to leave. After he left, Jian Bufan remarked to himself that it was better for her to cry it out than to cause a scene after drinking. Unbeknownst to Jing Zhixia, the buyer she contacted for the shares had been secretly arranged by Fu Zeyi. The buyer reported to Fu Zeyi that Jing Zhixia was unsuspicious, and Ai Xin confirmed that she had accepted the compensation demand.
With Jing Zhixia prepared to pay and leave, their plan to acquire the hotel’s ownership faced no further obstacles. Fu Zeyi's true intention was not to manage the hotel, but to acquire the land for commercial development, just as he had done a year prior. In a flashback, an orphanage director expressed gratitude to Fu Zeyi for his ongoing generosity.
Believing him to be a responsible person with a desire to give back to the world, the director signed the transfer contract. Shortly after, bulldozers arrived, leveling the orphanage as Fu Zeyi’s inner thoughts revealed his true objective: "The land is what I wanted."
Episode 2 Recap
Fu Zeyi, having successfully acquired the hotel, instructed Mr. Chen to continue facilitating the transition. Mr. Chen assured him that Jing Zhixia was too preoccupied with finding her missing ex-boyfriend to focus on managing the hotel, and she would soon arrange a meeting after reviewing the relevant documents. He added that Miss Jing was quite "pitiful," having only returned to the country a year ago.
Fu Zeyi, however, cut him short, stating his disinterest in anything but results and urging Mr. Chen to deliver good news. Meanwhile, Jing Zhixia was at a bar, heavily drinking whiskey. The bartender offered her a complimentary sparkling cocktail called Raspberry, explaining it was a gift from a gentleman who thought the drink matched her "air perfectly." Jing Zhixia, clearly still affected by a past relationship, rejected the drink, saying, "I don't like Billy.
All guys with the name Billy are scums," and ordered another whiskey. The man who sent the drink remarked to his companion that Jing Zhixia had a "strong personality" but poor alcohol tolerance, vowing to "deal with her." He later approached her, offering more drinks, but Jing Zhixia warned him not to "try anything funny." The man then insisted she drink a glass for his apology.
As Jing Zhixia prepared to drink the glass, Fu Zeyi suddenly intervened, grabbing the drugged cocktail and drinking it himself. He declared to the men that Jing Zhixia was his friend and he was taking her home. Jing Zhixia, recognizing him, exclaimed his name, believing she was still dreaming due to her drunken state. Fu Zeyi, already feeling the effects of the drug, told her she was drunk and tried to escort her out. However, he soon collapsed.
Knowing they were in a dangerous situation, Fu Zeyi fought back, grabbing a bottle, smashing it on a table, and violently cutting his own arm. Intimidated by his ferocity, the men backed off, allowing Fu Zeyi to take a semi-conscious Jing Zhixia to a nearby hotel. The next morning, Jing Zhixia woke up to find Fu Zeyi beside her.
At first, she thought she was still dreaming, but then she noticed the deep cut on his arm, realizing the events of the previous night were real. This solidified her belief that Fu Zeyi was, in fact, Lin, her long-lost boyfriend, because only Lin would have saved her like that. She called the hotel staff to send up a first-aid kit.
While waiting, she pondered that Fu Zeyi's denial of knowing her earlier in Aizhe Hotel must have been to protect her. After receiving the kit, she began to clean and bandage Fu Zeyi's wound. When he groaned in discomfort, she teased him about being a grown man unable to tolerate a little pain, jokingly wondering what people in other rooms might think she was doing to him. She carefully chose a simple bandage, concluding it suited him best.
Fu Zeyi, still heavily affected by the drug, stirred and instinctively pinned Jing Zhixia to the bed. Startled, she told him not to "try anything funny" or remove her clothes. He soon fell back into a deep sleep, leaving Jing Zhixia unable to move. She then speculated that the drink she was offered at the bar might have been adulterated, recalling the man's insistence that she drink it as an apology.
Stuck beneath him, she jokingly warned that she wouldn't hit him, out of gratitude for his rescue, and counted to three for him to get off her, emphasizing that he was the one preventing her from leaving. Unable to extricate herself, she eventually drifted back to sleep beside him. Later, Fu Zeyi awoke and found himself in bed with Jing Zhixia. He quickly got up, regretting getting entangled with her once more.
Seeing she was still asleep, he left a Centurion Card on the nightstand and quietly exited the hotel. At his company, Fu Group, employees were in a frenzy. Fu Zeyi's unprecedented lateness and his phone being unreachable for the entire night led many to believe he had been kidnapped. Some whispered about kidnappers calling for ransom.
When a junior employee was asked to get Fu Zeyi's signature, a senior colleague warned him to be careful, pointing out that Fu Zeyi never missed the Monday weekly meeting. Inside his office, Fu Zeyi was deep in thought, distracted by a fragmented memory of pinning Jing Zhixia down in the hotel room. Jing Zhixia, back at her hotel, discovered the Centurion Card Fu Zeyi had left. She called him, demanding to know what he meant by leaving it.
Fu Zeyi dismissively told her it was "compensation," his standard treatment for strangers. Infuriated, Jing Zhixia retorted that nothing had happened between them and accused him of deliberately humiliating her. He calmly replied that she could think what she wished, as that was simply "how he treated strangers." Meanwhile, Jian Bufan frantically called Jing Zhixia, urging her to return to the hotel immediately because his father, Jian Qian, was about to confront Fu Zeyi.
When she arrived, Jian Qian was loudly debating the merits of different expensive leathers for a CEO's chair before announcing his actual plan. He revealed he had investigated Fu Zeyi and discovered a "shocking secret": Fu Zeyi had been completely out of contact for three months, from August to October of the previous year. Jian Qian believed this mysterious disappearance was something Fu Zeyi was hiding and planned to use it as leverage to avoid paying the compensation.
Hearing this, Jing Zhixia's thoughts immediately turned to Lin, realizing that Fu Zeyi's three-month absence perfectly coincided with Lin's disappearance. After her uncle left, Jian Bufan noticed Jing Zhixia's unchanged clothes and the Centurion Card, deducing she hadn't come home and confronting her about it. Embarrassed, Jing Zhixia insisted nothing happened because Fu Zeyi had claimed not to know her. She then mused about how a person could change so drastically in just one year.
Jian Bufan jokingly suggested "possession" or "amnesia." Jing Zhixia agreed with the amnesia theory and vowed to uncover the truth. Jian Bufan enthusiastically offered to help her "interrogate him by force." Despite her reminder that violence was wrong, he insisted on venting her anger for her and left. Jian Bufan went to confront Fu Zeyi but was intercepted by Ai Xin, Fu Zeyi's assistant. He instantly recognized her as his college crush.
He vividly recalled his graduation day, confessing his feelings to her and promising to grow taller for her. Now 185 cm tall, he reminded her of his promise. Ai Xin, however, stared blankly and asked, "Who are you?" Jian Bufan was crestfallen, realizing she had no memory of him, and sadly apologized for mistaking her for someone else. Later, Jing Zhixia adamantly declared she would never drink again, blaming the "adulterated liquor" for her ordeal.
Episode 3 Recap
Jing Zhixia, heavily intoxicated, went to Fu Zeyi's room and, mistaking the opened door for an invitation, entered. She returned money to him, asserting that she also had wealth. She pressed him to acknowledge her, believing he was pretending not to know her, much like a character with amnesia in a TV drama. She then resorted to hitting his head, convinced this violent method would restore his memory. Unbeknownst to her, Fu Zeyi had a voice recorder, documenting her actions.
The police arrived and took Jing Zhixia into custody after Fu Zeyi provided video evidence, accusing her of assault. Initially denying it, Jing Zhixia eventually admitted to lightly patting his head, claiming it was to help him regain his memory. Fu Zeyi threatened to sue her, to which Jing Zhixia retaliated with accusations of fraud. The police, viewing them as a couple in a quarrel, intervened.
An officer advised them to communicate rather than resort to violence, encouraging Fu Zeyi to be magnanimous and Jing Zhixia to refrain from using force against her "boyfriend" in the future. Fu Zeyi agreed to drop the charges if Jing Zhixia recorded a video apology. Reluctantly, Jing Zhixia made a video vowing never again to threaten, coerce, or entice Fu Zeyi, or face divine retribution.
After they left the police station, Fu Zeyi removed a bandage from his head, revealing that his injury was faked. He warned Jing Zhixia that his entire scheme was premeditated, and if she caused any further trouble, he would release the video, which would severely impact Aizhe Hotel's market value. Enraged, Jing Zhixia accused him of toying with her emotions and manipulating her, wishing nightmares upon him.
The next morning, Jing Zhixia went to Fu Zeyi's office, specifically the presidential suite, to thank him for seemingly dropping Aizhe Hotel's debt. Fu Zeyi appeared surprised and asked what she meant. Just then, Ai Xin called him, confirming she had sent the "statement of cancellation of Aizhe's debt" to his email as instructed. This phone call caused Fu Zeyi to realize something was amiss, and he immediately rushed home.
Upon reaching home, Fu Zeyi discovered that the personality in his body the previous night was not himself, but Lin. It was Lin who, driven by his feelings for Jing Zhixia, had initiated the debt cancellation for Aizhe Hotel. Fu Zeyi reflected on his agreement with Lin to share their body, with a rule of one person per day. He was furious that Lin had broken this pact for love, staying awake for five consecutive days for Jing Zhixia.
Determined to eliminate Lin permanently, Fu Zeyi contacted Mo, a doctor, to undergo a treatment that would take three months. Fu Zeyi then disappeared for that period. However, three months later, Fu Zeyi realized Lin had re-emerged due to his persistent feelings for Jing Zhixia, meaning the attempt to erase him had not been entirely successful. Later, Jing Zhixia visited Fu Zeyi at his office again, bringing him a bowl of Four Herbs Soup she had specially learned to make.
Fu Zeyi apologized for the previous day's text messages, dismissing them as a friend's prank. He then clarified that those messages held no legal weight, and Aizhe Hotel still owed its debts. Jing Zhixia became furious, accusing him of playing games. Fu Zeyi then upped the ante, demanding that Aizhe clear all its debts within one week, or the Fu Group would take legal action.
Furious, Jing Zhixia left the soup for him to "feed to the dogs" and stormed out. Fu Zeyi, speaking to Ai Xin, stated that his decisions had their own reasons. Left with no other options, Jing Zhixia decided to sell some of Aizhe Hotel's shares to raise the necessary funds, wanting to avoid further entanglement with Fu Zeyi. She discussed lowering the asking price by 5% with a buyer's representative over the phone.
Her uncle, Jian Qian, overheard her conversation, confronted her about selling the shares, and brought her to her late father's tombstone to make her "confess" her actions. He called her mother, who was currently overseas pursuing a new relationship, hoping she would persuade Jing Zhixia. However, Jing Zhixia told her mother to focus on her romantic life and not to worry about the business. Jing Zhixia promised her uncle that she would not sell the entire hotel.
She then proceeded to sign an agreement to sell only a portion of her shares to another investor. Jian Qian was initially angered upon learning of the sale, but Jing Zhixia skillfully flattered him, emphasizing his crucial role as Aizhe's future leader and promising substantial dividends, ensuring the Jing family would remain the majority shareholders. Jian Qian, appeased and accepting the irreversible situation, agreed, believing the hotel would at least remain in the family's control.
Unbeknownst to both Jing Zhixia and Jian Qian, the new investor who purchased the shares was an arrangement orchestrated by Fu Zeyi. Ai Xin reported to Fu Zeyi that Jing Zhixia had signed the share transfer agreement without suspicion. Ai Xin also informed him that Jing Zhixia had resigned from Aizhe Hotel and was planning to leave that day.
Fu Zeyi speculated that Jing Zhixia would likely travel abroad to enjoy her newfound money, noting that her departure would remove any obstacles to his plans. As Jing Zhixia packed her belongings, reflecting on her year of diligent work, she decided to call Fu Zeyi, hoping for one last meeting to bring closure to her feelings. However, Fu Zeyi coldly refused, stating he was busy and had no time, then hung up, leaving Jing Zhixia deeply disappointed.
Episode 4 Recap
After Fu Zeyi returned home, he left a message for his other personality, Lin, stating that he had dismantled all of Lin's previous actions. With Jing Zhixia now also set to leave, he sternly told Lin not to act recklessly again. Enraged, Lin took control, drove off in a car, and nearly plunged off a cliff. Fortunately, a police officer saved him, pulling him out just as the car fell.
The officer, still shaken, reprimanded Lin for reckless driving, speculating he might have been drunk and noting how his car had veered into a guardrail after scraping hers. When she mentioned having called the police, Lin quickly persuaded her not to press the matter. Later, Fu Zeyi, back in control, was furious at Lin’s suicide attempt and angrily confronted his reflection, demanding that Lin reveal himself. The next day, Fu Zeyi, still furious with Lin, confided in his assistant.
He wondered why Lin, who had not made any aggressive moves during his previous appearance, had tried to self-destruct this time. When his assistant mentioned that Jing Zhixia had resigned from Aizhe Hotel and was scheduled to leave that day, Fu Zeyi concluded that Lin's erratic behavior was tied to her departure. He then decided to keep Jing Zhixia by his side, believing that this would appease Lin and prevent further interference with his plans.
As Jing Zhixia was preparing for her flight, she received a call from Fu Zeyi asking to talk, but she brusquely refused. She then fell asleep and dreamt of balloons floating outside the plane, bearing messages like "Jing Zhixia, I love you, please stay." Many passengers in her dream looked on with envy as Fu Zeyi appeared with flowers and proposed with a diamond ring, inciting cheers for her to accept.
Just then, a flight attendant woke Jing Zhixia, revealing that her romantic encounter was merely a dream. The attendant informed her that a gentleman was waiting for her up front. Fu Zeyi then approached Jing Zhixia, coldly informing her that she could not leave because their contract was not yet fulfilled. He asserted that leaving would be a breach of contract, even though Jing Zhixia insisted she hadn't signed anything.
Fu Zeyi presented her with a Debt Moratorium Agreement, explaining that her uncle had signed it on her behalf. The agreement stipulated that Aizhe Hotel had to provide one month of service to The Fu Group to defer its debts; otherwise, The Fu Group would sue Aizhe Hotel. Jing Zhixia protested, listing her lack of legal knowledge, her idleness, and Ai Xin's competence as reasons why she couldn't fulfill such a role.
Fu Zeyi dismissed her concerns, stating they would discuss it further in her office tomorrow. He also announced that he would be working at Aizhe Hotel and commandeering her office for the duration. Back home, Jing Zhixia recounted the events to Jian Bufan, who was surprised to see her back from her supposed vacation. She expressed her frustration over Fu Zeyi blackmailing her into working for The Fu Group for a month.
Jian Bufan, after hearing about the terms, jokingly suggested that Fu Zeyi probably had a crush on her, likening his actions to a boy teasing a girl he likes. Jing Zhixia scoffed at the idea, vowing to endure the month of service and leave immediately once the contract expired. The following day, Jing Zhixia arrived at her office at Aizhe Hotel, finding it already filled with Fu Zeyi's belongings. She questioned him about his intentions.
Fu Zeyi explained that The Fu Group planned to build a new business district, including a hotel, and he wanted her expertise as a hotel operator. Jing Zhixia noticed a blueprint for the new district, which seemed to omit Aizhe Hotel despite being located nearby. Fu Zeyi, irritated by her looking through his papers, curtly told her that her workspace was now outside the office, as it was now his.
He then assigned her the urgent task of submitting a hotel operations case study report by the end of the day, threatening Aizhe Hotel's future if she failed. Jing Zhixia, though annoyed, agreed to the task. Later, as Jing Zhixia tried to leave after submitting the report, Fu Zeyi stopped her. He demanded another comprehensive case study on all five-star hotels nationwide by the end of the day, effectively forcing her to work overtime.
Jing Zhixia argued that she would willingly work overtime if her efficiency was low, but since it was past working hours, she would deliver the new report the next day. Fu Zeyi, however, pointed out there was still one minute before the official closing time. Just as she was about to start, Ai Xin brought Jing Zhixia another set of "disorganized" evaluation reports from Fu Zeyi. Ai Xin offered to help, but Jing Zhixia declined, telling her to go home.
As she left, Ai Xin commented that she would never force others to work after hours. Jing Zhixia, exasperated by the immense pile of scattered papers, cursed Fu Zeyi under her breath. Fu Zeyi himself worked late into the night. He saw Jing Zhixia, exhausted, asleep on the floor. Feeling a pang of concern, he covered her with his jacket. In her sleep, Jing Zhixia mumbled Lin's name and reached for Fu Zeyi, mistaking him for Lin.
This gesture sparked a feeling of affection in Fu Zeyi, and he lay down beside her, eventually falling asleep. Later that night, the police officer who had rescued Lin visited the hotel, inquiring about Fu Zeyi, still believing him to be the man she saved. She asked if he was feeling better, but Fu Zeyi claimed not to know her. The next morning, Fu Zeyi left after waking up, sending Ai Xin to deliver breakfast to Jing Zhixia.
Jing Zhixia, surprised to find herself on the office floor, recalled dreaming of Lin. She was further annoyed when Ai Xin told her that Fu Zeyi had gone home to change and now expected her to drive over and pick him up. Meanwhile, Jian Bufan, also at Aizhe Hotel, saw Ai Xin and decided it was his chance to reconnect with her. He tried various ways to make her remember him, including pretending to play basketball in the lobby.
Ai Xin revealed that she had remembered him all along, much to his delight. However, his happiness was short-lived when Ai Xin introduced her fiancé, Ma Shixian, crushing Jian Bufan's hopes. Jing Zhixia, who happened to be nearby, overheard Jian Bufan's lament about Ai Xin getting married, though she was too preoccupied to fully process it.
Jing Zhixia, still grumbling about Fu Zeyi making her work overtime and act as his personal driver, received a call from him demanding she pick him up immediately from the hotel entrance. She reluctantly complied, only for Fu Zeyi to get into the driver's seat, announcing they were going to The Fu family's residence. Jing Zhixia reiterated that she would not participate in The Fu family's meeting, but Fu Zeyi simply stated he had other tasks for her there.
Episode 5 Recap
Upon arriving at Fu Zeyi's home, Jing Zhixia was immediately instructed to clean the pool table. She, the owner of Aizhe Hotel and a wealthy daughter, protested, asserting that while she tolerated being treated as a clerk or driver, she would not be a cleaner. However, Fu Zeyi invoked Article 12 of their contract, which stipulated her unconditional obedience.
When Jing Zhixia dismissed it as a slave contract and offered to pay compensation, Fu Zeyi threatened to expose Aizhe Hotel for using fake furniture, which would cause a scandal. Despite her accusations of his unethical bullying, Fu Zeyi insisted she clean until he was satisfied. Just then, his assistant called him to a meeting, and he left, telling Jing Zhixia to take her time. She realized he was simply trying to pick on her.
At the company meeting, Fu Zeyi was reprimanded by his father, Fu Guoqiang, for his inability to secure Aizhe Hotel. Fu Guoqiang, who was months away from stepping down as chairman of the board, reminded Fu Zeyi, a candidate for the position, that he needed to earn shareholder support. He warned that any mistakes that embarrassed The Fu Group would lead to Fu Zeyi being disowned.
Fu Shengrong, Fu Zeyi's Second Uncle, tried to mediate, offering to help Fu Zeyi and promising to speak with him privately. Back at Fu Zeyi's residence, Fu Shengrong joined him. Jing Zhixia, who was still cleaning, overheard a staff member comment that Fu Zeyi likely needed his uncle's support. Believing Fu Shengrong to be a crucial contact whose displeasure could get her fired, Jing Zhixia deliberately spilled tea on him while serving. Fu Shengrong reacted with anger, pushing her away.
Fu Zeyi quickly caught Jing Zhixia, preventing her from getting hurt by the broken teacup, and then criticized his uncle's behavior. Outside, Jing Zhixia admitted her actions were a ploy to get fired, unaware that Fu Shengrong was Fu Zeyi's uncle and not a client. Fu Zeyi, however, acknowledged that she had done well. Fu Zeyi granted Jing Zhixia a day off, which she initially celebrated by planning a trip.
Her excitement quickly faded when Fu Zeyi announced he would accompany her, stating she needed to get used to traveling with another person. Instead of her planned getaway, Jing Zhixia dragged Fu Zeyi to a shopping mall, going on a spree and making him pay for all her purchases. Later, at a restaurant, an elderly man collapsed.
Jing Zhixia quickly performed CPR, identifying it as a heart attack, and insisted that an ambulance be called, while Fu Zeyi defended her against the restaurant staff trying to shirk responsibility. Her quick actions revived the man just as paramedics arrived.
Jing Zhixia later confided in Fu Zeyi that her father had died alone in their hotel restaurant from a sudden illness, and she regretted that no one was there to help him despite his own precautions, such as installing defibrillators. She also revealed her own heart palpitations were eased by a song Lin had once composed for her, and she wondered if Fu Zeyi remembered.
When her heart palpitations flared up, Fu Zeyi rushed her to a piano and played the very tune, much to Jing Zhixia's astonishment. On the way home, she confronted him about pretending not to know her, but he simply claimed he "learned it." Upon reaching home, she assured him her heart palpitations were merely symptoms of low blood sugar. That night, Jing Zhixia lay awake, pondering Fu Zeyi's ambiguous actions and his memory of the song.
She found herself hallucinating his presence beside her, unable to sleep. The next morning, her brother, Jian Bufan, noticed her exhaustion and learned they had "almost kissed." Jian Bufan advised her to seek clarity from Fu Zeyi. Before she could, Fu Shengrong called her. He apologized for his previous behavior, acknowledging her as the CEO of Aizhe Hotel, and offered to buy her remaining shares at triple the market price.
He then revealed Fu Zeyi's true motive: to acquire the land Aizhe Hotel was on, demolish it, and build The Fu Group's new business district. Jing Zhixia was devastated, realizing Fu Zeyi's entire arrangement had been a calculated trap to force her to sell her family's cherished hotel. She confronted Fu Zeyi, angrily accusing him of a cruel conspiracy to make her, a "loser," witness the destruction of her father's legacy as a form of punishment.
She vowed that The Fu Group would not succeed. Meanwhile, Fu Zeyi secretly sought out Teacher Luo, a piano instructor, to learn the specific song he had played for Jing Zhixia. Despite having no prior piano experience, he bypassed basic lessons, insisting on learning only that particular melody, and diligently practiced it.
Episode 6 Recap
Fu Zeyi instructed Ai Xin to discard a limited edition bag she had bought, stating it was useless now. He then informed her that Fu Shengrong, his Second Uncle, had begun acquiring shares in Aizhe Hotel. Fu Zeyi ordered Ai Xin to gather all Aizhe shareholders for a meeting that afternoon, emphasizing the need for immediate action. Meanwhile, Jing Zhixia learned of Fu Zeyi's intentions to dismantle the hotel.
She discussed with her uncle, who is also Jian Bufan's father, how to thwart the plan, reminding him that Aizhe Hotel was a labor of love for both her father and herself. At the shareholders' meeting, Fu Zeyi declared himself the new person in charge of Aizhe Hotel. He presented a plan to demolish the hotel, citing its stagnant performance over the past two years.
He argued that replacing it with a new business district would generate year-round profits, benefiting all shareholders. He instructed everyone to prepare for the hotel's closing and staff severance, announcing that the demolition of the forest behind the hotel would begin the following day. Jing Zhixia immediately objected, claiming her right as a major shareholder.
She asserted that with her 20% stake and her uncle's 15%, they collectively held more shares than Fu Zeyi's 33%, giving them the power to oppose. However, Fu Zeyi revealed that her uncle had secretly sold 3% of his shares to him, leaving Jing Zhixia and her uncle with a combined 32%, which was less than Fu Zeyi's now 36%. With no further objections, Fu Zeyi declared the plan would proceed, and the meeting was dismissed.
Jing Zhixia, infuriated, vowed she would not allow him to tear down Aizhe Hotel. Three days later, Jing Zhixia devised a scheme to stop Fu Zeyi. She sent an anonymous letter, luring him to the underground wine cellar with a fabricated story about valuable paintings. Once Fu Zeyi was inside, Jian Bufan locked the cellar door from the outside, trapping him with Jing Zhixia.
She then attempted to force him to sign an agreement not to demolish the hotel, threatening that they would both freeze if he refused. Fu Zeyi signed the document but promptly informed her that any agreement signed under duress was legally invalid and revealed he had recorded their entire conversation. Enraged, Jing Zhixia tried to take the recording pen from him. Just then, Ai Xin arrived, looking for Fu Zeyi.
Jian Bufan, trying to avoid detection, pushed Ai Xin away and claimed Fu Zeyi was not in the cellar, saying he was just playing games outside. Inside, Fu Zeyi attempted to force his way out but cut his hand on a broken vase. Jing Zhixia desperately called for Jian Bufan to open the door, but he had already left, leaving them trapped. Jing Zhixia bandaged Fu Zeyi's hand.
Adopting a different approach, she showed him paintings on the wine barrels, depicting the long-serving employees of Aizhe Hotel: Mr. Ren, the first head chef; Mr. Li, the housekeeping manager; the lobby manager; Ms. Li from the cleaning department; Jian Bufan; her uncle; and herself. She explained that these individuals were like family to her and to the hotel, emphasizing Aizhe Hotel's emotional value as a legacy meant for careful management, not destruction.
She drew a portrait of Fu Zeyi, playfully labeling him "Employee No. 53," and told him he could be part of their family if he committed to managing the hotel well. She pleaded with him not to demolish the hotel. To her surprise, Fu Zeyi agreed to consider it. Shortly after, Jian Bufan and Ai Xin returned, opening the cellar door.
Ai Xin asked Fu Zeyi if the incident had altered his plans, but he instructed her to proceed as scheduled. He then asked her about the project plan for the new complex and inquired if adding a hotel would impact the existing design, a subtle hint that Jing Zhixia's words might have resonated with him. After Ai Xin left, Fu Shengrong called her, reminding her of his past financial support and subtly demanding her loyalty, which deeply unsettled her.
Ai Xin later called her doctor, requesting sleeping pills as her melatonin was no longer effective. Jing Zhixia's uncle called her, informing her that Fu Zeyi was proceeding with the demolition of the back hill that day. She rushed to the hotel, but upon arrival, her uncle and Jian Bufan greeted her excitedly. They explained that a group of wild plant conservation experts had discovered several rare and protected plants on the back hill, adding them to the conservation list.
This designation meant the entire area around the back hill was protected, effectively halting the demolition plan and saving the hotel. They attributed the discovery to a "good Samaritan" who had provided the plant data to the experts. Jing Zhixia was overjoyed, believing Fu Zeyi's plan had failed. When Fu Zeyi arrived, she taunted him, suggesting his cunning methods had finally backfired. Fu Zeyi remained unfazed.
Fu Shengrong called Fu Zeyi, offering his assistance with the "trouble" regarding the Aizhe Hotel rebuilding. Fu Zeyi, however, declined, assuring his uncle that he had a backup plan. After the call, Fu Shengrong complained to an associate that "Lin" had ruined his entire acquisition plan, believing it was a deliberate act.
Fu Zeyi then called Ai Xin, instructing her that he would be staying at Aizhe Hotel to handle the new solution, avoiding the need to return to the Fu Group and deal with "those old men." Unbeknownst to Fu Zeyi, Ai Xin was with Fu Shengrong when she took the call.
A text message shown to her revealed Professor Li thanking a "Mr. Lin" for the information that saved the trees, leading Ai Xin to question the true nature of events. Jing Zhixia confronted Fu Zeyi again, but he stated he had already stopped the rebuilding plan and saw no need for her continued hostility. He advised her to focus on improving the hotel's poor performance.
Jing Zhixia, however, declared she would continue to watch him closely, suspecting he was plotting new tricks. Later, celebrity idol Ye Yuxi arrived at Aizhe Hotel, drawing a crowd of fans and paparazzi. Jian Bufan stressed the importance of providing excellent service, recalling how poor celebrity hospitality had negatively impacted other businesses. Jing Zhixia's uncle informed her that Ye Yuxi specifically requested her personal service. Despite her reluctance, Jing Zhixia agreed for the hotel's reputation.
Ye Yuxi proved difficult, rejecting multiple rooms due to concerns about privacy and potential invasion by paparazzi and sasaeng fans. Frustrated but determined, Jing Zhixia promised him the presidential suite. Ye Yuxi's assistant expressed dismay at his demanding behavior, but Ye Yuxi revealed his motive: he was intentionally creating problems for Jing Zhixia to prevent his brother from marrying her mother. Jing Zhixia anticipated Fu Zeyi would object to vacating the presidential suite and criticize her for mishandling a guest.
To her surprise, Fu Zeyi readily agreed to move to an executive suite, stating he could relocate at any time. This unexpected compliance made Jing Zhixia wonder if Fu Zeyi had genuinely found a new solution and abandoned his plans for Aizhe Hotel. Upon showing Ye Yuxi the presidential suite, he declared it "filthy" and demanded that Jing Zhixia clean it herself, citing celebrities' need for privacy. Putting the hotel's "customer is king" motto first, Jing Zhixia agreed.
Fu Zeyi then entered the room, claiming he had forgotten a document. He was visibly annoyed to find Jing Zhixia cleaning, questioning why the general manager was performing a janitor's duty. Ye Yuxi quickly interjected that he had not forced her, and she was cleaning voluntarily. Still resentful towards Fu Zeyi, Jing Zhixia retorted that she was doing it for the hotel and "the major shareholder, Mr. Fu's" sake, seeing no problem with her actions. She reminded him that he too had ordered her around in the past, and since she had no objections, he should simply leave.
Episode 7 Recap
Jing Zhixia returned from her duties feeling utterly exhausted, confiding in Jian Bufan that even her parents had never worked her so hard. She was particularly frustrated with Ye Yuxi, convinced he was intentionally making things difficult for her. However, the unexpected result of her meticulous cleaning of Ye Yuxi’s room was its online virality. Social media comments were overflowing with praise for Aizhe Hotel, turning the incident into invaluable free publicity.
Recognizing this accidental boon, Ye Yuxi called Jing Zhixia, cheekily suggesting she show her gratitude by treating him to a lavish meal. Jian Bufan, delighted, saw this as Jing Zhixia's second chance at romance and an opportunity to finally move past Fu Zeyi. As Jing Zhixia and Ye Yuxi enjoyed their meal, Fu Zeyi arrived, seemingly "just passing by."
He grew increasingly irritated witnessing Ye Yuxi's flirtatious gestures, especially when Ye Yuxi presented Jing Zhixia with a limited-edition designer bag as a "little gift" for his past misbehavior. Jing Zhixia, uncomfortable with the expensive present, insisted on paying for it. At that critical moment, Fu Zeyi had an important meeting scheduled with Mr. Sheng of Yiju Home, a key figure for the Fu Group's new project.
Overwhelmed by jealousy, Fu Zeyi prioritized confronting Jing Zhixia, instructing Ai Xin to handle Mr. Sheng and forcibly dragging Jing Zhixia away. This caused him to miss the appointment entirely. An enraged Jing Zhixia demanded to retrieve her bag, leading to a public struggle. Their argument was interrupted by the arrival of Fu Zeyi's father, Fu Guoqiang. He immediately confronted them, then summoned them to his office.
Fu Guoqiang lambasted Fu Zeyi for missing the crucial appointment with Mr. Sheng, accusing him of ruining the Fu Group's prospects and disregarding company interests multiple times, all for Jing Zhixia. He also brought up old rumors of illicit profit transfers between Fu Zeyi and Aizhe Hotel, warning that he could sue him.
Expressing his deep disappointment, Fu Guoqiang gave Fu Zeyi one week to secure the Yiju Home contract, threatening to strip him of all positions at the Fu Group if he failed. After his father stormed off, Jing Zhixia pressed Fu Zeyi about the accusations, asking if she was the cause of his troubles, but he dismissed his father's words as nonsense.
Later, Fu Zeyi confronted Ye Yuxi, demanding that he leave Aizhe Hotel and maintain a strict distance from Jing Zhixia. To enforce his demands, Fu Zeyi produced old photos of Ye Yuxi as a "chubby" person before his debut, threatening to release them to his fans and the media, which would shatter his carefully crafted "born handsome" image.
Ye Yuxi, initially defiant, argued that physical appearance isn't a flaw, but Fu Zeyi countered by highlighting how Ye Yuxi had used image editing to present himself as a "pretty boy." Realizing the potential damage these photos could cause to his career if his competitors got hold of them, Ye Yuxi reluctantly agreed to Fu Zeyi's terms, though not without questioning Fu Zeyi's true feelings for Jing Zhixia.
Fu Zeyi insisted his actions were solely for the sake of Aizhe, which was under his management. The weight of Fu Guoqiang's words continued to trouble Jing Zhixia. Soon after, Ai Xin delivered the new bag Fu Zeyi had promised, prompting Jing Zhixia to wonder about its origins. Her younger brother, Jian Bufan, later confirmed Jing Zhixia's suspicions, revealing that Fu Zeyi had indeed abandoned his plan to demolish the hotel because of her.
Hearing this, Jing Zhixia started to believe that Fu Guoqiang's accusations about Fu Zeyi's sacrifices for her were true. Meanwhile, Ai Xin worked to schedule a meeting with Mr. Sheng of Yiju Home for Fu Zeyi. Mr. Sheng's secretary informed her that he was on vacation and would be sailing at 3 PM, though she wouldn't disclose his exact location.
Narrowing it down to South Aowan Bay or North Aowan Bay, Fu Zeyi decided he and Ai Xin would split up to cover both locations due to time constraints. Just as they were about to leave, Ai Xin received a call from Second Uncle Fu Shengrong, who, having funded her in the past, ordered her to prevent Fu Zeyi from securing the contract with Mr. Sheng. Ai Xin, caught between loyalties, feigned sudden abdominal pain.
Fu Zeyi, concerned, immediately went to assist her. Coincidentally, Jian Bufan passed by and, after scolding Fu Zeyi for overworking his employee, offered to take Ai Xin to the hospital himself. At the hospital, the doctor mistakenly assumed Ai Xin was Jian Bufan's wife, a notion that secretly delighted Jian Bufan.
Despite being under Fu Shengrong's implicit threat, Ai Xin, worried about Fu Zeyi's future, discreetly messaged Jing Zhixia, informing her of Mr. Sheng's real location at North Aowan Bay and asking her to help Fu Zeyi. Shortly after, Ai Xin's fiancé arrived to pick her up but was promptly called back to work, leaving Ai Xin to return home with Jian Bufan.
Upon receiving Ai Xin's urgent message, Jing Zhixia called Fu Zeyi to inform him that Mr. Sheng was at North Aowan Bay, urging him to abandon his search at South Aowan Bay. Both rushed to North Aowan Bay, but Mr. Sheng's secretary blocked their entry, falsely claiming that Mr. Sheng had already left due to an urgent matter.
Realizing they were being stonewalled, Fu Zeyi and Jing Zhixia decided to search for other exits, believing Mr. Sheng would eventually have to leave. As they walked by the beach, they discovered a little girl named Yanyan playing alone. Concerned for her safety near the rising tide, they approached her. Yanyan, initially cautious of strangers, eventually warmed up to them after introductions and seeing an old, chubby photo of Fu Zeyi on his ID card, which greatly amused her.
Yanyan shared that she was looking for her best friend, a doll named Xiaoyou, which she had buried in the sand to keep dry while she collected shells, only to find it gone when she returned. As dusk fell, Jing Zhixia and Fu Zeyi offered to play with her. Yanyan suggested playing house, casting herself as the mother, Jing Zhixia as her daughter, and Fu Zeyi as her son-in-law.
They found her theatrical antics, like offering Fu Zeyi a million to leave her "daughter," highly entertaining. Later, as Yanyan drifted off to sleep, they contacted the police, who informed them that a missing child report had been filed for Yanyan. They also learned from Yanyan's nanny that her mother had passed away, and her father was still far away, rushing back.
Feeling deep sympathy for Yanyan, Jing Zhixia realized that the absence of her parents was likely why she treated her doll as a best friend. Inspired, Jing Zhixia obtained a photo of Xiaoyou from the nanny, noting that the doll's eyes had been mended. Despite neither of them being skilled at sewing, Jing Zhixia convinced Fu Zeyi that as the "smarter one," he could learn quickly to help her make a new, handmade Xiaoyou for Yanyan. They began their task, trying to soften the new doll to match the comforting feel of Yanyan's old one.
Episode 8 Recap
Fu Zeyi and Jing Zhixia were at the Lost-And-Found, arranging for a doll to be claimed by a little girl, Yanyan, whom they had met earlier. Fu Zeyi subtly instructed an employee not to reveal their involvement. Jing Zhixia, though initially hesitant about lying, went along with it. They then helped Yanyan find her beloved doll, Xiaoyou. Yanyan's excitement was palpable, even if she noticed a missing stain on the doll, which Jing Zhixia attributed to cleaning.
Soon after, Yanyan's father arrived, who, to Fu Zeyi and Jing Zhixia's surprise, was Mr. Sheng, a crucial business contact. Mr. Sheng expressed gratitude for their kindness towards his daughter, which made him reconsider their past business dealings, suggesting they discuss their previous contract again. Yanyan, delighted with her new "adult friends," wanted to spend another day with them, even playfully claiming Fu Zeyi as her "son-in-law," much to Jing Zhixia's bewilderment.
After the reunion, Fu Zeyi drove Yanyan home with Jing Zhixia. On the way, Jing Zhixia teased Fu Zeyi about his unexpected attachment to Yanyan, given his usual disinterest in children. After dropping Yanyan off, Jing Zhixia exited the car, and shortly after, Fu Zeyi received an urgent call from Dr. Mo Ziqi. Dr. Mo informed him that while a new treatment method for his condition had been discovered, it carried a severe risk: he might die.
Deeply concerned, Fu Zeyi immediately drove to Dr. Mo's office for a more thorough explanation. Dr. Mo Ziqi confirmed that Fu Zeyi's physical health was excellent, with no neurological issues, and noted that Lin, his alter ego, hadn't manifested since Jing Zhixia had been by Fu Zeyi's side. This stability led Dr. Mo to suggest the new, risky treatment might be unnecessary, as Fu Zeyi's condition was stable.
Fu Zeyi, however, insisted on understanding the full implications of the therapy, despite his current stability. Dr. Mo revealed the treatment aimed to eliminate Lin with a 50% success rate: success meant freedom from Lin, but failure meant Fu Zeyi's death and Lin's permanent existence. Given the grave risks and current stability, Fu Zeyi expressed reluctance to be a "guinea pig" for such a dangerous procedure.
Dr. Mo then probed Fu Zeyi about his romantic feelings, asking if he was dating Jing Zhixia, the woman who had sought him in Europe. Dr. Mo expressed skepticism, wondering if Fu Zeyi could truly win Jing Zhixia's heart given Lin's profound importance to her. Fu Zeyi, however, was resolute, declaring that he would ultimately prevail over Lin. Jing Zhixia found herself grappling with her feelings for Fu Zeyi, cautioning herself against giving in to him again.
Meanwhile, Fu Zeyi, in a symbolic interaction with a cat named Guaiguai, expressed his frustration with capriciousness and inconsistency, seemingly mirroring his own emotional turmoil regarding Jing Zhixia. He then called Jing Zhixia to his office to assign her leadership of the hotel's future operations, as he planned to return to The Fu Group. He presented her with a detailed marketing proposal and urged her to study it diligently.
Afterwards, Fu Zeyi attempted to ask Jing Zhixia out for dinner, but she firmly rejected him. She admitted to having liked him a year ago but stated that his actions since their reunion had made it clear their relationship had ended long before. She implied they were now "even" and there was nothing more between them.
Deeply affected by her rejection, Fu Zeyi was tormented by Lin's voice, reminding him that Jing Zhixia loved Lin, not him, echoing Dr. Mo's earlier doubts. A distraught Fu Zeyi then rushed out into the heavy rain to seek out Dr. Mo Ziqi again, desperately needing help with Lin's issue. Fu Zeyi, drenched from the rain, found Dr. Mo Ziqi and announced that Lin was constantly present.
Dr. Mo, observing Fu Zeyi's emotional state, suggested his symptoms resembled lovesickness more than a medical condition, playfully hypothesizing that Lin might be an "imaginary love rival." Fu Zeyi vehemently denied that Jing Zhixia admitted to liking Lin, asserting that their connection had ended a year prior. Dr. Mo countered by reminding Fu Zeyi that Jing Zhixia perceives him "as" Lin, and astutely guessed that Fu Zeyi had been rejected.
Fu Zeyi admitted he hadn't even had the chance to confess, as Jing Zhixia refused to listen to any explanation. Dr. Mo then advised Fu Zeyi to make a "proper confession" to cure his "lovesickness," a term Fu Zeyi scoffed at, though Dr. Mo insisted it fit since he was constantly thinking about Jing Zhixia. The next day at work, Fu Zeyi overheard Jing Zhixia on the phone with Jian Bufan.
Jing Zhixia explained that she couldn't meet Jian Bufan after work because her mother, who was recently back, was getting married next month and had asked Jing Zhixia to help Ye Yuxi pick out a wedding gown. Jian Bufan expressed disbelief about Jing Zhixia going with "that Ye guy" for such a significant event and suggested "Dear Wedding Boutique" in Central Square. Upon hearing this, Fu Zeyi was overcome with a sense of crisis and intense jealousy.
His internal monologue, likely Lin's taunts, suggested Jing Zhixia didn't care about him. He immediately cancelled an important meeting with a timber supplier, delegating it to his assistant, Aixin, and rushed out to find Jing Zhixia. Fu Zeyi rushed to Dear Wedding Boutique but was initially denied entry without an appointment. He snuck in, only to be heartbroken to see Jing Zhixia trying on a wedding dress, believing she was preparing for her own wedding.
However, his fears were allayed when Ye Yuxi, Jing Zhixia's mother's fiancé, clarified that Jing Zhixia was trying on the gown "for her mother". Despite this relief, Fu Zeyi, after a brief, awkward interaction with another customer who mistakenly thought he and Jing Zhixia were a couple, plucked up the courage to confess his feelings. He passionately declared his love for Jing Zhixia.
However, Jing Zhixia, tired of his perceived inconsistency, rejected him, stating she wouldn't trust someone so "capricious" and wouldn't "fall for him ever again." Desperate not to lose her, Fu Zeyi impulsively lied, claiming he had suffered memory loss after a car accident a year ago, which caused his erratic behavior. He offered hospital records as proof, leaving Jing Zhixia momentarily stunned by the possibility. He then tightly embraced and kissed Jing Zhixia, overwhelming her.
As Jing Zhixia processed this, Fu Zeyi felt Lin, his alter ego, beginning to emerge. He fought to suppress Lin, but fearing Jing Zhixia would discover his condition, he hastily fled the boutique as she went to get him water, leaving her confused and worried about his sudden distress. Jing Zhixia desperately searched for Fu Zeyi throughout the wedding boutique and eventually found him in a piano room, playing a tune.
Relieved, she embraced him, believing that his old self had returned. However, their tender moment was interrupted by a police officer who had been trying on clothes nearby. The officer, recognizing Fu Zeyi, pulled Jing Zhixia aside. He revealed that he had witnessed Fu Zeyi involved in a car accident, where he appeared to intentionally lie in the road after hitting a car, leading the officer to suspect suicidal tendencies. This revelation deeply concerned Jing Zhixia.
When she returned to question Fu Zeyi, the personality that greeted her was no longer Fu Zeyi but Lin. Lin, now in control, internally accused Fu Zeyi of having previously driven recklessly with the intent of self-destruction after driving Jing Zhixia away from the hotel.
Feigning Fu Zeyi's persona, Lin then calmly explained to Jing Zhixia that the accident was not a suicide attempt but rather a consequence of his frantic search for her, compounded by his poor driving skills and haste. He assured her he had many reasons to live, which finally put Jing Zhixia's fears at ease. Believing his explanation, she told him she would go change and wait for him to leave together.
After Jing Zhixia left to change, an angry internal confrontation erupted between Fu Zeyi and Lin. Fu Zeyi was furious at Lin's emergence, but Lin, in control of the body, calmly challenged Fu Zeyi, accusing him of losing his composure over Jing Zhixia and attempting to eliminate him through Dr. Mo's treatment. Lin proposed they revert to the original agreement they had made a year ago, suggesting a negotiation.
Fu Zeyi scoffed at the idea, pointing out that Lin wouldn't have given up Jing Zhixia back then, nor would he now. Lin, asserting his return, expressed a desire to see what Fu Zeyi had accomplished while in control. Fu Zeyi vehemently responded that Jing Zhixia was now his girlfriend, and it was time for Lin to relinquish control.
Episode 9 Recap
Fu Zeyi, asserting his primary personality, vehemently told Lin to withdraw and stop pursuing Jing Zhixia. " Now I've returned. I'd like to see what you've been doing with my identity all this while," he challenged. Lin retorted that Jing Zhixia was now dating him, not Fu Zeyi, and confidently stated, "The person who is dating Jing Zhixia is me. You can back out now."
He further claimed that despite his long absence, he saw Jing Zhixia looking at Fu Zeyi as if searching for him. Jing Zhixia, troubled by constant heart palpitations and the fear of inheriting her father's heart disease, sought solace. Her father's heart attack was caused by overwork, she explained to a doctor, worried she might follow his footsteps.
While waiting at the clinic, a piano melody from a nearby movie rental store, playing a film called "Billy," caught her attention and eased her heart. Intrigued, she inquired about the composer and learned the name "Lin," but found no personal data, remarking on his mysteriousness. Desperate to hear the music without interruption, she booked an entire cinema, only to unexpectedly encounter Lin, the composer, there. This serendipitous meeting sparked their connection.
Lin even composed a special piece for her, leading to a blossoming romance. Lin later confronted Fu Zeyi, declaring their relationship with Jing Zhixia would be everlasting. " It'll never be over between her and me," Lin asserted, telling Fu Zeyi to stop fantasizing and to rest within the body, as he had no intention of leaving. He declared Fu Zeyi nothing but his substitute. Fu Zeyi was left fuming with frustration.
Jing Zhixia then registered her fingerprint on Fu Zeyi's home lock. Lin, aware of this, gloated to Fu Zeyi that Jing Zhixia would now have free access to their home, implying her concern for him. However, Lin drew a firm line regarding Jing Zhixia. While he had always yielded to Fu Zeyi since childhood, he would not compromise on Jing Zhixia. " Since we were young, I let you have whatever you want. But not this time."
Challenging Fu Zeyi's confidence in Jing Zhixia's affections, Lin proposed a competition: "We'll compete and let's see who's the person she loves." The first one to get Jing Zhixia's house key would be the winner, and the other would have to concede. They agreed to this pact. Lin then went to sleep, returning control to Fu Zeyi. Upon regaining control, Fu Zeyi, still reeling from the agreement with Lin, immediately contacted Dr. Mo Ziqi.
He recounted the challenge with Lin, emphasizing that while he had once wanted to eradicate Lin, he now sought to win against him fairly. " I don't want him to disappear yet. We still have some unfinished business." Later, when Lin next emerged, he questioned Ai Xin about Jing Zhixia. Ai Xin was taken aback by his uncharacteristic conversational tone, noting, "You never talked to me in such a manner." Lin, amused, asked her how she perceived him now.
Ai Xin remarked that the "Mr. Fu" she used to know was like an efficient, emotionless machine, driven only by benefits, but meeting Jing Zhixia had made him show human emotions like anger and frustration, and even a willingness to discuss matters, which was unprecedented. " Until you met Miss Jing," she concluded, causing Lin to ask directly if she thought he was serious about Jing Zhixia.
Just then, Lin received a phone call from Jing Zhixia, who informed him she was feeling unwell. He promptly dropped his work, telling Ai Xin, "I'll cancel all your schedule for today." He then rushed to Jing Zhixia's side, ready to take care of her. Jing Zhixia was surprised by Lin's attentiveness and unexpected culinary skills.
He cooked a fragrant meal, including millet congee for her, and even tore chicken breast for her cat, Guaiguai, before stating his intention to take the cat for its vaccinations later. He reassured her, saying, "I want you to get well faster. Only then I'll be happy." His actions, so different from Fu Zeyi's usual demeanor, made her increasingly fond of him.
Feeling it was opportune, Lin hinted at needing a spare key to her house for convenience in caring for her. Jing Zhixia, however, dodged the request, saying she would open the door for him later. Lin, realizing it wasn't the right time to push for the key, eventually went to sleep in a room Jing Zhixia had arranged for him. After Lin left, Jing Zhixia reflected on his behavior, sensing a resemblance to the gentle "Lin" from a year ago.
Yet, she found this version of "Fu Zeyi" oddly unfamiliar and distinctly different from the overbearing Fu Zeyi she had grown accustomed to recently. The next morning, Fu Zeyi, now in control, woke up next to Guaiguai, the cat. " What's this? No wonder I felt I suffered from sleep paralysis all night," he exclaimed, showing a clear dislike and fear of the animal.
He demanded Jing Zhixia take it away, which confused her because "he" (Lin) had been so loving towards it the previous night and even left a note implying he took it for vaccination. Jing Zhixia mentioned his previous night's kindness to the cat and questioned his sudden change of heart, also noting how he had become clumsy in the kitchen today, unlike his "skilled" cooking the previous night.
She recalled Fu Zeyi even asking her if she liked the millet congee he made yesterday. Fu Zeyi, struggling to piece together his fragmented memory, tried to make "coke and ginger remedy" for her, but the resulting burnt concoction was unpalatable to both. Despite the failed attempt, Jing Zhixia expressed her happiness that Fu Zeyi was willing to cook for her, acknowledging that "people do make mistakes, don't they?"
Fu Zeyi, intending to continue caring for Jing Zhixia, decided to work from her house. He was still fearful of Guaiguai, the cat, and only dared to approach his desk after Jing Zhixia took the cat away. He instructed Ai Xin and other project managers to join him there, relocating their meeting to Jing Zhixia's living room. He even had a high-level job applicant come to Jing Zhixia's house for an interview.
During the interview, instead of asking about qualifications, Fu Zeyi directly asked the candidate if they could cook, specifying healthy food options. The candidate, surprised, confirmed he could. It became clear that the food prepared by the applicant was all for Jing Zhixia, a revelation that baffled the other staff, who noted they usually ate instant noodles during meetings. Ai Xin delivered the food to Jing Zhixia, who happily assumed Fu Zeyi had cooked it.
Ai Xin, however, clarified that Fu Zeyi never enters the kitchen, causing Jing Zhixia to wonder if her memories of "Fu Zeyi" cooking yesterday were mere hallucinations due to her fever. Later, after the meeting concluded and everyone had left, Fu Zeyi approached Jing Zhixia. He handed her a box containing important documents for the Yiju Home cooperation, explaining it was "the key to turning the tide" if negotiations went wrong.
He told her she was the person he trusted most, further adding, "I'm afraid I won't be around when that happens." Before Jing Zhixia could fully grasp his unsettling remark, he changed the subject and checked her temperature. Jing Zhixia was wary, having been kissed the previous day, and he then forcefully kissed her again, declaring, "This kiss belongs to me." She remarked that he was "more like a rascal today" than yesterday.
He then asked for her house key, reminding her that she had already registered her fingerprint at his place. Jing Zhixia refused, stating he was too "self-righteous now." When he pressed further, asking if she would have given it to "the me from yesterday," she replied that she wouldn't have. Relieved that Lin had also been refused the key, Fu Zeyi then made a peculiar request: "Let's not meet tomorrow."
He reasoned that his condition was unstable after just recovering, and he had a doctor's appointment requiring a full day of "seclusion." He explicitly told her that if he called her, she must not answer or agree to any of his requests. Jing Zhixia, confused and annoyed by his unpredictable behavior, reluctantly agreed.
Episode 10 Recap
Fu Shengrong arranged for a person to apply for a position with Fu Zeyi, intending to gather information about him. However, the applicant only managed to cook a meal and failed to obtain any valuable intelligence. Realizing the attempt was futile, Fu Shengrong immediately arranged for a boat to help the person escape overnight, ensuring Fu Zeyi would never see him again.
Meanwhile, Jian Bufan, assuming that his sister Jing Zhixia's relationship with Fu Zeyi had progressed after they spent two days together, was surprised when Jing Zhixia revealed that Fu Zeyi had explicitly told her not to answer his calls that day. Just then, Lin called, and Jing Zhixia quickly hung up, upholding her promise to Fu Zeyi. Unexpectedly, Fu Zeyi appeared in person, clarifying that his instruction was for them not to meet "tomorrow", and today's meeting was perfectly permissible.
Later, Ai Xin presented Fu Zeyi with a packed schedule full of important client meetings for that day. Fu Zeyi was baffled, having no recollection of making such arrangements. Realizing that Lin must have set the packed schedule the previous day when he was in control, Fu Zeyi saw it as a deliberate attempt to interfere and prevent him from spending time with Jing Zhixia.
He then internally confronted Lin, urging him to adhere to their rules and stop resorting to tricks, warning that such behavior would only make Jing Zhixia dislike them both. He proposed they compete fairly from now on, to which Lin agreed. The very next morning, Jing Zhixia called, informing the body (currently Lin) that his pre-booked flight was already late.
Lin soon discovered that Fu Zeyi had, in fact, flown overseas overnight to Mauritius, specifically to limit Lin's opportunities to interact with Jing Zhixia. With the last flight already departed, Lin was stranded and unable to return that day. Enraged, Lin condemned Fu Zeyi for using such underhanded tactics, contradicting their agreement for fair competition. Following this incident, both Fu Zeyi and Lin took turns pursuing Jing Zhixia, each taking a day. Their approaches and personalities varied drastically.
One day, Jing Zhixia would be taken on hotpot dates, with the personality excitedly asking if the current restaurant was better than the last, leading Jing Zhixia to feel she was gaining too much weight. The next day, she would be subjected to intense exercise routines, with the other personality pushing her to lose more weight. Both personalities repeatedly pressed her, asking which day's date she preferred and whether they could have her house keys.
Feeling overwhelmed and confused by these conflicting experiences, Jing Zhixia consulted a psychologist, believing she might be suffering from a personality disorder. She described how "he" could be wonderfully gentle and attentive one day, making her adore him, but shockingly overbearing and unreasonable the next, making her want to "choke him."
The psychologist, however, struggled to understand her situation, mistakenly concluding that Jing Zhixia was simply dating two boyfriends simultaneously and advised her to speak with a friend about her "guilty conscience," which Jing Zhixia found incredibly unprofessional. Later, Ai Xin urgently informed Lin that Mr. Sheng had arrived for their meeting. Lin was caught off guard, completely unprepared, as Fu Zeyi had not shared any crucial details about the meeting.
His fumbling responses left Mr. Sheng with the impression that Fu Zeyi was not ready for a partnership. Just as the situation grew tense, Jing Zhixia confidently entered the meeting room, assuring Mr. Sheng of their preparedness. She presented a meticulously prepared document—the Fanmu Home Brand Transfer Contract—explaining that Fu Zeyi intended to offer his high-end brand, Fanmu Home, to Yiju Home as a strategic gift.
Jing Zhixia articulated how this collaboration would significantly boost Yiju Home's market position, leading to the Fu Group developing new central business districts around Yiju Home's expanded presence. Although Mr. Sheng raised concerns about the development rights and Fu Zeyi's unconventional business style, Jing Zhixia passionately advocated for Fu Zeyi, portraying him as a capable, thoughtful, and compassionate leader, despite his often intimidating exterior.
Citing Fu Zeyi's successful acquisition and revitalization of Aizhe Hotel, she convinced Mr. Sheng of the mutual benefits of their partnership, leading to the successful signing of the contract. During the celebratory banquet for the new partnership, a staff member named Yang found Jing Zhixia's bracelet and gave it to Ai Xin, who then presented it to the body, currently under Lin's control. Lin, however, did not recognize the bracelet.
At that moment, Fu Zeyi's personality forcefully re-emerged, experiencing a strong premonition that Jing Zhixia was in danger. He immediately rushed to find her and discovered her unconscious in the restroom, having sustained a head injury. Fu Zeyi quickly took her to the hospital. The doctor informed them that Jing Zhixia had fainted due to low blood sugar and suffered a moderate concussion from the fall, but was otherwise fine.
The doctor stressed the importance of companionship during such episodes, as being alone could lead to accidents. Although Fu Zeyi expressed concern about her past heart palpitations, the doctor confirmed they were also symptoms of hypoglycemia and that her heart was healthy. Jing Zhixia only needed a few days of rest in the hospital. Attributing Jing Zhixia's injury to Lin's negligence in taking care of her, Fu Zeyi became consumed with a fierce protectiveness.
He called Mo Ziqi, expressing his decision to eliminate Lin entirely. Despite acknowledging the inherent risks of such a procedure, Fu Zeyi declared that he would rather harm himself than allow Jing Zhixia to suffer further. Separately, Jian Bufan uncovered evidence of Ma Shixian's infidelity, capturing photos to show Ai Xin. To his surprise, Ai Xin asked him not to disclose the matter further or confront Ma Shixian, then abruptly left.
Later, finding Ai Xin drinking alone at home and disheartened, Jian Bufan went to comfort her. He tried to alleviate her insomnia by clumsily playing basketball in her living room, which garnered a complaint from a neighbor. After a brief and awkward exchange, Jian Bufan then suggested they watch a basketball game together. Ai Xin found his presence comforting, and they unintentionally fell asleep together on the sofa. Jian Bufan felt overwhelmed by this sudden, unexpected happiness.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Fu Zeyi continued his discussion with Mo Ziqi about his condition. Mo Ziqi confirmed that Fu Zeyi's main personality indeed emerged immediately whenever Jing Zhixia was in trouble, a phenomenon that puzzled him scientifically. Mo Ziqi expressed that Fu Zeyi's case was beyond his medical knowledge and recommended a more extensive hospital examination. Fu Zeyi, however, was impatient, demanding an immediate cure for his dissociative identity disorder.
He reiterated that his ability to protect Jing Zhixia, as demonstrated by her recent fainting spell, proved he alone should be by her side. Mo Ziqi, concerned by Fu Zeyi's intensity, warned him about the significant risks involved in the treatment and advised him to carefully consider his decision before proceeding.
Episode 11 Recap
Fu Zeyi struggled with Lin's presence. Lin questioned if Fu Zeyi was still angry about Jing Zhixia's injury, wanting forgiveness. Fu Zeyi dismissed the thought, stating he had no time for anger as Jing Zhixia was missing and he needed to find her. During this conversation, Jing Zhixia appeared, confronting him about who he was talking to, as she had only heard him speaking to himself.
This reinforced Jing Zhixia's growing suspicion that Fu Zeyi harbored an unspeakable secret, possibly related to his amnesia, and she resolved to investigate it covertly, discussing it with Jian Bufan. Meanwhile, Fu Zeyi discussed his decision to undergo treatment with Mo Ziqi, confirming it was because of Jing Zhixia. He described Jing Zhixia as innocent, kind, trusting, and understanding, despite Mo Ziqi's observation that women often tend to be suspicious, sensitive, and guarded.
Fu Zeyi confidently stated that Jing Zhixia would never lie to him. Mo Ziqi scheduled the treatment for the following day. After being discharged from the hospital where she was recovering from low blood sugar, Jing Zhixia was driven home by Fu Zeyi, who urged her to rest. However, Jing Zhixia's mind was preoccupied with Fu Zeyi's secrets. She suspected he would hide important information at his home and decided to return there to search for clues.
She called Fu Zeyi, asking if he was home, and after he mentioned missing her, she surprised him at his door. Although Fu Zeyi was outwardly welcoming, he secretly worried about Lin's possible re-emergence, especially after their first kiss, and knew he had to be careful not to trigger Lin before his upcoming treatment, specifically avoiding kissing Jing Zhixia.
He subtly tried to discourage Jing Zhixia from staying, suggesting she drink water instead of red wine and offering to send her home immediately. As Jian Bufan went to Ai Xin's home to celebrate her birthday, he was dismayed to see Ma Shixian leaving with luggage. Convinced Ai Xin was still with the "jerk," Jian Bufan confronted her after Ma Shixian left, demanding to know why she hadn't ended their relationship.
Ai Xin tried to deflect, asking him to discuss something cheerful on her birthday, but Jian Bufan grew increasingly agitated, warning her that if Ma Shixian cheated once, he would do it again, despite Ai Xin's desperate pleas for him to stop. Overwhelmed, Ai Xin accidentally knocked over a teacup, shattering it. The noise startled her colleagues, who had been hiding behind the sofa, planning a surprise birthday celebration.
They emerged, creating a mortifying scene, which made Jian Bufan realize why Ai Xin had wanted him to stop talking. After the awkward birthday wishes, the colleagues discreetly left. Jian Bufan apologized profusely, and Ai Xin revealed that she had broken up with Ma Shixian long ago. He had come to reconcile, but she had refused and returned all his gifts.
Ai Xin confessed her struggle to maintain a composed facade, explaining how she had meticulously built her career, from receiving scholarships to becoming Chief Legal Officer at Fu Group, only for her three-year engagement to end in infidelity. She lamented that she had no one to confide in. Jian Bufan comforted her, reassuring her that her kind heart was all that mattered, and that right and wrong were other people's problems.
Ai Xin, still emotional, admitted she was crying not over Ma Shixian, but over her shattered favorite vase. Back at Fu Zeyi's apartment, Jing Zhixia, still determined to uncover his secrets, intentionally spilled juice on him. While he went to change, she quickly accessed his computer, where she found an appointment listed for the next day with Mo Ziqi. This discovery deepened her suspicion.
When Fu Zeyi returned, he noticed her at the computer and asked if she was looking for something. Jing Zhixia quickly made up an excuse, claiming her phone had died. Fu Zeyi, still eager to send her home, offered his power bank. Realizing she needed another reason to stay, Jing Zhixia feigned a sprained ankle. Concerned, Fu Zeyi agreed she couldn't leave alone and applied ice to her ankle, though he internally pondered her unusual behavior.
Jian Bufan remained with Ai Xin, comforting her. Ai Xin, noticing he was still there, asked why he hadn't left, to which he replied that he wanted to watch TV with her. Later, she drifted off to sleep on his shoulder. When she woke up, she found him sleeping on the floor, having given her his jacket to use as a blanket.
In the middle of the night, because of the air conditioning, Ai Xin saw Jian Bufan was a bit cold and gently covered him with another blanket, a gesture that secretly delighted Jian Bufan. Jing Zhixia, still at Fu Zeyi's, noticed a female neighbor approach his door, claiming her pipes were leaking and asking for his help. Fu Zeyi explained he couldn't help, but Jing Zhixia questioned him about the woman, clearly jealous of the brief interaction.
To keep him from leaving and potentially uncover more, Jing Zhixia suggested they "do something to freshen up." Misinterpreting her intent, Fu Zeyi demurred, but Jing Zhixia clarified by pulling out a deck of cards, suggesting they play something "meant for two." They settled on a game of dou dizhu, with the stakes being "Truth or Dare" and sticky notes for the loser.
Despite Fu Zeyi's claim of never losing at dou dizhu, Jing Zhixia initially suffered repeated losses, accumulating sticky notes on her face and growing frustrated. To cheer her up, Fu Zeyi deliberately let her win a round. When Jing Zhixia won, she chose a dare for him: to tell his new neighbor that she was his girlfriend. Fu Zeyi complied, loudly listing Jing Zhixia's admirable qualities—adorable, innocent, kind, cheerful, thoughtful, smart, and sexy—to the bemused neighbor.
Upon his return, Jing Zhixia rewarded him for making her win and enduring her scolding by presenting him with a "get-out-of-jail card," promising to forgive any mistake he made while holding it. She then pressed him, asking if he had ever wronged or lied to her. Fu Zeyi, with a hesitant expression and an internal thought about whether they would still have a future after tomorrow, deferred the conversation, saying it was late.
Later, as they lay intimately in bed, with their clothes off, Jing Zhixia asked what was wrong, and Fu Zeyi replied it was nothing, before Jing Zhixia lightly complained that he was pressing on her hair.
Episode 12 Recap
Jing Zhixia woke to find Fu Zeyi gone, leaving her a note stating he had an urgent business trip and would return next week. Suspecting deceit, she resolved to investigate. She called Jian Bufan, asking him to help her find a Dr. Mo at the hospital, emphasizing it was a secret mission. After some searching, they located Dr. Mo Ziqi's office.
Jing Zhixia and Jian Bufan secretly listened as Dr. Mo Ziqi explained to Fu Zeyi that his treatment was irreversible and only one of his two personalities could survive. Fu Zeyi declared that only he would survive. As Fu Zeyi left to get a missing medical record, Jing Zhixia quickly devised a plan. She instructed Jian Bufan to feign a medical emergency to distract Dr. Mo, allowing her to slip into the office.
Jian Bufan comically exaggerated symptoms like shivering, seizures, and foaming at the mouth, successfully drawing Dr. Mo's attention to the "critical" situation and getting him rushed to the ER. Inside the office, Jing Zhixia found Fu Zeyi's medical record, which confirmed her suspicions: he had Dissociative Identity Disorder. The file reiterated that only one personality could survive the upcoming procedure. Alarmed, Jing Zhixia rushed to find Fu Zeyi. Confronting him, she realized he already knew she had discovered the truth.
Fu Zeyi confessed that Lin, his second personality, was the one she had fallen in love with a year ago. Jing Zhixia expressed her confusion over his erratic behavior, saying she always felt he was two different people. She lamented that only Lin truly loved her, while Fu Zeyi brought only manipulation and deception.
Fu Zeyi admitted his initial intent was to acquire Aizhe Hotel but claimed he genuinely fell for her during their time together and wished to protect her. However, Jing Zhixia pointed out that it was Lin who canceled the hotel's debt and sent the anonymous letters that saved it. She then tore up the "get-out-of-jail" card she had given him last night, refusing to forgive his deception. In despair, Fu Zeyi walked into the operating room.
Jing Zhixia pleaded with him not to proceed, fearing the loss of Lin, but Fu Zeyi's only reply was that if he couldn't have her, he wouldn't let anyone else either. A month later, Dr. Mo Ziqi discharged Fu Zeyi, telling him he could now pursue Jing Zhixia. However, Fu Zeyi felt their relationship had never truly begun.
Dr. Mo questioned if Jing Zhixia knew of his condition, but Fu Zeyi stated it no longer mattered, asserting the surgery was solely his decision. Meanwhile, He Bei'er, the socialite daughter of Mr. He from Helai Jewelry, expressed her interest in Fu Zeyi to her father. Though Mr. He worried about "taming" the "wild horse" that was Fu Zeyi, He Bei'er, confident in her equestrian skills, believed she was up to the task.
Jian Bufan, concerned for his sister, found Jing Zhixia scrubbing a toilet in the ladies' room. He initially feared she was contemplating self-harm but was relieved to learn she was merely channeling her anger. Jing Zhixia told him she had blocked Fu Zeyi and instructed him to pick up their mother's resized wedding ring, urging him to leave the women's restroom immediately. Ai Xin informed Fu Zeyi that rumors of his romance with He Bei'er were rampant, making headlines.
Fu Zeyi was surprised, as he had no prior acquaintance with her. Upon returning home, he found He Bei'er waiting for him. His father, Fu Guoquang, introduced her as a future business partner, praising He Bei'er's initiative to use their fabricated "scandal" as a promotional tool. Though unimpressed by He Bei'er's tactics, Fu Zeyi politely agreed to collaborate. He reflected that if she chose to be ruthless, he would reciprocate.
News of Fu Zeyi and He Bei'er's supposed relationship quickly spread. Jian Qian, Jing Zhixia's uncle, was delighted, envisioning a lucrative engagement ceremony at their hotel. Jian Bufan, however, was furious that Fu Zeyi was dating so soon after his breakup with Jing Zhixia. Jian Qian was then shocked to learn that Jing Zhixia had been dating Fu Zeyi under his nose. He Bei'er later met with Fu Zeyi to propose turning their business cooperation into a marriage alliance.
Fu Zeyi was reluctant, questioning if she intended to use him for another scandal. He Bei'er, seemingly aware of his past relationship, mentioned his recent breakup with Jing Zhixia, which irritated Fu Zeyi, making him realize she had investigated him. He Bei'er clarified it was standard business due diligence and revealed her plan: to create a massive wedding rumor to boost their companies' stock prices, then announce it was merely a strategic partnership.
Fu Zeyi found the idea appealing, hoping it would make Jing Zhixia regret her decision. He agreed to go all out with the publicity, wanting everyone to know. Meanwhile, Ma Shixian confronted Ai Xin, attempting to rekindle their relationship. When he learned she was now with Jian Bufan, he snatched her phone and called Jian Bufan, telling him to stop bothering Ai Xin. An enraged Jian Bufan hung up and went to confront Ma Shixian.
He Bei'er, seeking more publicity, orchestrated paparazzi to capture her at Fu Zeyi's house. Once inside, she started discarding items that belonged to Jing Zhixia, including a sentimental ball, much to Fu Zeyi's annoyance. He angrily pushed her out, telling her that she was the one who didn't belong in his home. He Bei'er, seething, redirected her anger toward Jing Zhixia. When Jian Bufan found Ai Xin and Ma Shixian, he demanded Ma Shixian leave Ai Xin alone.
Ma Shixian, dismissive, called Jian Bufan a child who was only toying with Ai Xin and would never marry her. To everyone's astonishment, Jian Bufan produced a diamond ring, knelt, and proposed to Ai Xin.
Episode 13 Recap
Jian Bufan proposed to Ai Xin, presenting a diamond ring and kneeling. Ma Shixian, present at the scene, laughed mockingly, questioning Ai Xin if she truly wanted to be with "this kid" and if he could afford to marry her. He told them to stop acting and making fun of him. To Ma Shixian's surprise, Ai Xin accepted Jian Bufan's proposal, put the ring on her finger, and then kissed Jian Bufan.
Ma Shixian, infuriated, lunged at Jian Bufan, punching him repeatedly. Ai Xin pulled Jian Bufan away, telling them to stop fighting. Ma Shixian, believing Ai Xin was still protecting him, said he knew she still cared for him. However, Ai Xin then turned and delivered several precise punches to Ma Shixian, followed by an over-the-shoulder throw that slammed him to the ground.
She explained that if Jian Bufan had punched his face, a check-up could prove it, but this way, he couldn't prove anything, then told him to leave. Back home, Ai Xin kissed Jian Bufan, who then asked if her earlier actions were all an act for Ma Shixian. Ai Xin apologized, asking if she had scared him. Jian Bufan, still emotional, expressed his disbelief at how easily she dismissed the situation and asked if she had any feelings for him.
Ai Xin responded with "I don't know," leading Jian Bufan to exclaim, "Enough!" Shortly after, Ai Xin received a call from her Second Uncle, Fu Shengrong, who told her it was time for her to act. After the call, Ai Xin's demeanor shifted. She tried to send Jian Bufan home, claiming he must be busy. He insisted he wasn't, saying he had all the time in the world.
As he tried to get closer, Ai Xin pulled away, telling him, "Don't do this to me," adding that this wasn't like him. Jian Bufan pressed her about who had called. Ai Xin then returned the engagement ring to him, firmly stating, "Jian Bufan! We can only be friends." Jian Bufan was devastated, refusing to believe it, and repeatedly pleaded with her to tell him what happened, even as she walked away, visibly upset.
He apologized, urging her not to be sad. Ai Xin messaged Fu Zeyi to request a few days off, and he readily granted it. Meanwhile, He Bei'er took Fu Zeyi to a bridal shop to try on wedding dresses. Wearing an extravagant gown, she announced that their upcoming launch event for Helai Jewelry and the Fu Group would be held as a wedding, symbolizing her "marriage" to him as the representative of the Fu Group.
Fu Zeyi, clearly annoyed, briefly agreed before stating he had other matters and left. After He Bei'er was praised by a salesperson for her choice of a prized wedding dress, Fu Zeyi returned and purchased the gown, telling the staff not to display it again. When He Bei'er thanked him, he clarified it wasn't for her, just as Jing Zhixia entered the shop, presumably to pick up a dress for herself. Jing Zhixia acknowledged their engagement, offering congratulations.
Fu Zeyi confronted her, asking if she truly believed he would marry someone else, to which she replied, "I saw it with my own eyes." In response, Fu Zeyi confirmed his engagement to He Bei'er for the following week and sarcastically suggested that if Jing Zhixia needed a venue for a future event, her Aizhe Hotel could host it, promising excellent service.
Seizing the opportunity, He Bei'er declared they would indeed hold their reception at Aizhe Hotel, pleased with the unexpected business, and then left. Jing Zhixia watched them go before instructing the salesperson to pack up the wedding dress she had selected. Jing Zhixia's uncle initially hesitated to accept the large order from He Bei'er, worrying about the emotional toll on Jing Zhixia.
However, Jing Zhixia insisted on handling it herself, viewing it as a challenge and declaring she had nothing to hide. Her uncle agreed, advising her to maintain professionalism and treat the couple as strangers. Jing Zhixia then met with He Bei'er, introducing herself as the person in charge of Aizhe Hotel. He Bei'er, calling her "Ms. Zhixia," revealed that the corporate strategic partnership banquet would also announce her engagement to Fu Zeyi.
Jing Zhixia promptly adapted the event plan to incorporate an engagement ceremony, replacing the lighting with a champagne pouring. He Bei'er then made a surprising announcement: she was pregnant and requested non-alcoholic champagne and anti-slip mats for safety. Jing Zhixia congratulated her on the "double delight." He Bei'er then asked Jing Zhixia, given her past relationship with Fu Zeyi, if she would be awkward about a "small favor."
She requested Jing Zhixia to be the one to deliver the engagement rings during the ceremony. Although Jing Zhixia initially hesitated, stating their relationship wasn't close enough for such a role, He Bei'er countered that it was simply part of the event flow and a crucial element of the partnership, stressing the need for a reliable person like Jing Zhixia.
He Bei'er then provocatively mentioned Jing Zhixia's past relationship with Fu Zeyi again, offering to find someone else if she minded. Jing Zhixia, maintaining her composure, accepted the task. Later, He Bei'er met with Fu Zeyi, who was surprised to see her at the Aizhe Hotel. She informed him that she had personally overseen the banquet preparations, commending Jing Zhixia's efficiency in providing a revised schedule the same day.
Fu Zeyi noticed the detail about the "ring exchange during the launch event" and asked if Jing Zhixia had arranged it. He Bei'er confirmed, adding that Jing Zhixia had even congratulated them on their "double delight." Internally, Fu Zeyi wondered if Jing Zhixia truly wished for him to marry another woman, but he outwardly agreed to proceed with her arrangements.
The engagement ceremony began with the MC highlighting the exemplary partnership between the Fu and He families and introducing Fu Zeyi and He Bei'er as the "stars of the event." Guests speculated about He Bei'er's true nature and anticipated drama due to Jing Zhixia's presence. He Bei'er then invited Jing Zhixia onto the stage, claiming a special friendship forged during her years abroad, and asked her to deliver the engagement rings as a witness to their important moment.
A surprised Jing Zhixia complied, handing the rings to Fu Zeyi and He Bei'er. He Bei'er then placed a ring on Fu Zeyi's finger, but he struggled to reciprocate. After the ring exchange, Jing Zhixia attempted to leave the stage, but He Bei'er pulled her back, effusively thanking her as the event's planner, emphasizing Jing Zhixia's "full effort" for the "perfect event," ignoring Fu Zeyi's hushed warning to "calm down."
He Bei'er then brazenly announced that Jing Zhixia was single and encouraged the single men in the audience to take their chance. Suddenly, the lights in the banquet hall went out, plunging the room into darkness. A staff member realized that Fu Zeyi had pre-arranged for the lights to be cut so he could escape. In the chaos, Fu Zeyi grabbed Jing Zhixia's hand, and they slipped away.
When the lights came back on, only He Bei'er and their respective parents were left on stage, looking embarrassed. The MC awkwardly continued, trying to normalize the situation, while some guests muttered that it was merely a "strategic business partnership" and the "engagement was just a publicity stunt." Outside the venue, Jing Zhixia pulled her hand away from Fu Zeyi, sharply telling him to let her go and not to call her "Zhixia."
She stated she had no interest in his affairs and wanted no further connection with him. Fu Zeyi apologized, urging her to return to the banquet, but she adamantly refused. He then confessed that he couldn't forget her, explaining that everything that happened inside the hall was merely a show. Jing Zhixia, however, declared she didn't care if it was real or fake and didn't want to understand his intentions, demanding that he stay away from her.
Later, Fu Zeyi's father expressed concern about the He family's anger and potential obstacles to their partnership, but dismissed Fu Zeyi's actions, stating he could do whatever he pleased. Fu Zeyi, desperate to reconnect with Jing Zhixia, tried calling her, but she hung up, reiterating her desire to avoid him. He then resorted to having posters plastered all over the city, bearing messages like "Jing Zhixia, forgive me" and "Jing Zhixia, sorry. Can we meet?"
Jing Zhixia, encountering these posters and messages, exclaimed in frustration, "Fu Zeyi, are you sick or something?" She even used one of his posters as a coaster, highlighting her disdain for his persistence. While walking, Jing Zhixia bumped into Ye Yuxi, who was complaining about Fu Zeyi's posters covering his own. Ye Yuxi revealed he was attending her mother's wedding, as he was the younger brother of Ye Ming, who was marrying Jing Zhixia's mother, making them family.
Jing Zhixia immediately seized the opportunity and asked for his help. She then met Fu Zeyi, who genuinely confessed that his engagement to He Bei'er was merely a ploy to provoke her and see if she still cared for him. He believed she understood his true feelings and was hoping for reconciliation. However, Jing Zhixia calmly announced that she had a boyfriend, someone Fu Zeyi knew. When Fu Zeyi demanded to see him, Ye Yuxi stepped forward, greeting Fu Zeyi.
Fu Zeyi dismissed their supposed relationship as an act, claiming Jing Zhixia would never like someone like Ye Yuxi. Ye Yuxi confidently asserted that "people change" and that Jing Zhixia wouldn't like someone like Fu Zeyi either. As the tension grew, Ye Yuxi asked Fu Zeyi to leave, but Fu Zeyi defiantly took Ye Yuxi's seat next to Jing Zhixia, expressing his desire to sit there and admire her.
He further provoked them, saying Jing Zhixia should have hired a better actor. To prove her point, Jing Zhixia pulled Ye Yuxi in for a kiss. Unable to bear the sight, Fu Zeyi stood up to leave. As he walked away, Jing Zhixia called out, hoping that this would be their last meeting and that she never wanted to see him again. Ye Yuxi later commented that they might have "overdone it" as it was obvious Fu Zeyi loved her. Jing Zhixia, however, questioned if it mattered, asking if anyone would want to be with a liar, lamenting that perhaps their encounter from the very beginning was a mistake.
Episode 14 Recap
Distraught over the perceived loss of Lin, Jing Zhixia drank alone at a bar. When Fu Zeyi arrived to take her home, she pushed him away, declaring, "Let go of me! Don't call me that. We're not that close! I'm not interested in anything about you. I don't want anything to do with you. I will never forgive you for this."
Fu Zeyi questioned how she still remembered a particular tune if she claimed not to know him; she simply replied she had learned it. He then confessed, "Jing Zhixia, listen up. I like you," to which she responded, "Fu Zeyi, what exactly do you want me to do?" A bartender informed them the bar was closing, but Jing Zhixia insisted she could go home by herself.
As Fu Zeyi carried her out, Jing Zhixia's drunken thoughts revealed her deep confusion, wondering why every man she saw looked like the "detestable" Fu Zeyi. Back at her place, she pulled Fu Zeyi into a kiss, but her words "Lin, is that you?" left him heartbroken, confirming her continued feelings for Lin. Feeling defeated, Fu Zeyi left, accepting that Lin held a place in Jing Zhixia’s heart that he did not.
He then internally addressed Lin, admitting his defeat and urging Lin to emerge. The next morning, Lin appeared at Jing Zhixia’s door, asking if she was having another hangover. Jing Zhixia, still assuming it was Fu Zeyi, initially accused him of deception.
To prove his identity, Lin recited obscure facts about renowned pianists Rudolf Serkin and Martha Argerich, including the details about her "Supreme Priestess of the Piano" title and the "Prometheus" album with Berliner Philharmoniker, which finally convinced Jing Zhixia. Overjoyed, she embraced him, believing Fu Zeyi had eliminated Lin. Lin reassured her that Fu Zeyi was not that ruthless, and they still shared the same body.
He then pointed out their differences, explaining that he loved to cook while Fu Zeyi detested the smell of cooking and never entered the kitchen, and that he adored cats while Fu Zeyi couldn’t tolerate cat fur. Their conversation was interrupted by a phone call from Jing Zhixia’s mother, Jingjing, who declared she was canceling her wedding. Jing Zhixia, accompanied by Lin, rushed to the venue. Jingjing was distressed, claiming she had lost her wedding ring.
Lin offered to help, and Jing Zhixia introduced him as "a good friend of mine." Lin suggested checking surveillance, but Jingjing insisted that a timid hotel cat had taken the ring. Jing Zhixia and Lin went searching, with Lin explaining that cats often hide in places like fire extinguisher cabinets or under vehicles, and their reflective eyes make them easier to find at night.
As they searched, Lin shared that he loved cats but couldn't keep one because Fu Zeyi was afraid of them. They eventually found the cat's nest and, indeed, the ring. Jing Zhixia, noticing the cat's nest usually contained soft items, deduced that the cat wouldn't have naturally taken a hard ring. Jingjing then confessed that she had hidden the ring herself because she had decided not to marry Ye Ming.
She explained that she had received a drunken phone call from Jing Zhixia the previous night, where Jing Zhixia pleaded, "Don't leave me! Don't leave me alone!" Jingjing had misinterpreted this as her daughter not wanting her to remarry, fearing Jing Zhixia would be lonely. Jing Zhixia quickly clarified the misunderstanding, urging her mother to pursue her own happiness and wishing her a joyful marriage. Convinced by her daughter's words, Jingjing finally agreed to marry Ye Ming.
She thanked Lin for his help. On the day of the wedding, the scheduled musician canceled. Distraught, Jingjing felt her perfect wedding was destined to be flawed. Lin, however, stepped forward and offered to play the piano as a wedding gift. He performed beautifully, and as he played, many guests observed Jing Zhixia smiling, realizing she was captivated by the pianist, not just the music. Some guests openly remarked that Lin was clearly the "ex-boyfriend you couldn't forget."
During the bouquet-tossing ceremony, Jingjing playfully tossed the bouquet directly to Jing Zhixia, leading to cheers of "Be together!" from the crowd. Lin then invited Jing Zhixia to dance, mentioning that he had wanted to ask her to dance a year ago during their night at the beach.
However, a comical dispute erupted among various relatives, including a man named Ye Yuxi, each insisting on having the first dance with Jing Zhixia based on their family seniority, before Lin finally led her away. Away from the crowd, Lin confessed his love for Jing Zhixia. But Jing Zhixia declared, "Let's end it here."
She explained that while she could now distinguish between him and Fu Zeyi, she was confused about her own heart and feared calling out the wrong name. She admitted that she had convinced herself Fu Zeyi was a villain who had selfishly destroyed their relationship and tried to eliminate Lin, and that she felt she had to hate him. However, Lin's unexpected return, confirming he was alive, made her realize that "he's not as bad as I thought."
She also expressed disappointment that Lin had numerous opportunities to tell her the truth but chose to keep it a secret. Despite Lin's protest that he didn't mean to hide it, Jing Zhixia stated she could no longer trust either of them. Being a simple person who couldn't decipher their intentions, she proposed that no matter who emerged, they should remain "good friends." With that, she left.
Lin was left alone, lamenting that Jing Zhixia was abandoning him too, and that he didn't know what to do. Fu Zeyi, from within, reassured him, "It's fine. You still have me with you. No matter what happens in the future, I will always stay by your side. We will face them together." Lin responded, "I don't wish to give up yet." Later, Jing Zhixia found her mother, Jingjing, drinking a "tonic" at home.
Jingjing, noticing her daughter's underlying sadness, asked about her relationship with Fu Zeyi. Jing Zhixia, speaking freely, explained the complex situation: how she met Fu Zeyi, how Lin, a distinct personality within Fu Zeyi, had professed his love, and how Fu Zeyi's often contradictory behavior made her wonder if he was ill. Jingjing was incensed that her "baby daughter" was being "taken for a fool" and advised her to stay away from Fu Zeyi.
Mistaking a business transaction for a personal debt, Jingjing offered to transfer money to Jing Zhixia to "pay off" Fu Zeyi, even adding an extra zero at Jing Zhixia's suggestion. The next morning, Ye Ming woke up with a hangover, having little memory of the previous night, only that he and Jing Zhixia had drunk all night, mumbling about "zero and one."
He was shocked to find a large sum missing from his account, which Jingjing confirmed she had transferred to Jing Zhixia in USD. They then left for their honeymoon. Ye Yuxi, who was also leaving, teased Jing Zhixia about having a crush on him, but then seriously told her he knew she liked Fu Zeyi. He suggested she was being foolish for not letting go of something "destined to end badly," urging her to reflect on it.
Meanwhile, Fu Zeyi's brother, Fu Guoqiang, also referred to as Mr. Fu Senior, met with Fu Zeyi. Fu Guoqiang informed him that Mr. He was furious about Fu Zeyi's previous antics and demanded a personal apology. Fu Zeyi adamantly refused, stating that the one who caused the trouble should resolve it, and he wouldn't get involved. Fu Guoqiang acknowledged his brother's stubbornness.
Episode 15 Recap
Fu Guoqiang sought out Jing Zhixia, asking her to leave Fu Zeyi. He offered her any amount of money she desired. Unexpectedly, Jing Zhixia arrived with her own money, asking Fu Guoqiang to tell Fu Zeyi to leave her instead. She stated that if Fu Zeyi returned her shares, she would not only leave him but also allow the Fu family to keep her money. Seeing an opportunity to profit, Fu Guoqiang quickly agreed.
However, Fu Zeyi suddenly appeared, throwing Jing Zhixia's money into the swimming pool. He firmly declared that nothing could change without his consent. Jing Zhixia was furious that her money was in the pool. Fu Guoqiang then clarified to Fu Zeyi that the money was for Jing Zhixia to buy back her shares of Aizhe Hotel. Realizing his mistake, Fu Zeyi retrieved the money from the pool.
As Jing Zhixia reached for her bag, Fu Zeyi pulled her into the water with him. After they got out, Fu Zeyi used a hairdryer to dry Jing Zhixia’s soaking hair, a gesture that touched her. Nevertheless, she still went to meet Fu Guoqiang again to finalize the share redemption. This time, Fu Guoqiang was less assertive and even invited her to a meal.
After Jing Zhixia left the meeting, she told Fu Zeyi that while his father was astute, she had noticed his memory seemed to be failing. Just then, someone informed Fu Zeyi that Fu Guoqiang had fainted. Fu Zeyi rushed to his father's side. A doctor examined Fu Guoqiang and concluded that his syncope was due to excessive stress.
Concerned about his father's memory and the possibility of him not recognizing visitors, Fu Zeyi asked Jing Zhixia to help organize the family photo albums so his father could identify guests and their names. Jing Zhixia meticulously reorganized the albums, adding notes, which proved helpful when guests subsequently visited. Fu Guoqiang, prioritizing the interests of The Fu Group, took the initiative to meet Mr. He to discuss future cooperation.
Mr. He was surprised that someone as proud as Fu Guoqiang would humble himself for Fu Zeyi's sake. After Fu Guoqiang's efforts, the cooperation agreement was signed. However, Fu Shengrong expressed strong dissatisfaction with the contract, which angered Fu Guoqiang, leading him to dismiss Fu Shengrong. Afterward, Fu Guoqiang thanked Fu Zeyi for Jing Zhixia’s help with the photo albums and gave Fu Zeyi full authority to decide on the Aizhe Hotel shares.
Fu Zeyi then approached Jing Zhixia with the agreement, returning her shares. Jing Zhixia found this gesture admirable and suggested they now had a "shareholder relationship." Fu Zeyi, however, desired a deeper connection, wanting them to take a step further than just friends. Later, Fu Zeyi visited the cemetery to pay respects to his late brother, Fu Zilin.
His Second Uncle, Fu Shengrong, unexpectedly appeared, scolding Fu Zeyi and blaming him for Fu Zilin's death, wishing Fu Zilin were still alive. Fu Shengrong then drove Fu Zeyi away and discarded the flowers Fu Zeyi had brought for his brother. Fu Zeyi recalled Fu Zilin's funeral when he was a child. Fu Shengrong had been hysterical, but his father had intervened, slapping Fu Shengrong and telling him not to argue with a child.
From that day on, the alternate personality, Lin, manifested within Fu Zeyi, and they began to share the same body. Jing Zhixia scheduled a meeting with Fu Zeyi, but it was Lin who showed up. Lin explained that Fu Zeyi was in a bad mood and refused to come out because the previous day was Fu Zilin’s death anniversary, and he had an unpleasant encounter with Second Uncle.
Lin preferred not to disclose the full story about Fu Zeyi and Fu Zilin to Jing Zhixia, promising that Fu Zeyi would tell her himself later. Determined to uncover the truth, Jing Zhixia apprehended Mo Ziqi, demanding he reveal what happened between Fu Zeyi and Fu Zilin. Under her threat, Mo Ziqi recounted the events of twenty years ago. A group of kidnappers intending to abduct Fu Zeyi unexpectedly took Fu Zilin as well.
During the abduction, Fu Zilin attempted to escape through the sunroof, but was tragically hit by a car on the road and died. This incident became the source of the deep-seated animosity and pain between the remaining family members. Meanwhile, Lin temporarily took over at the company to handle business. Although he tried to act like Fu Zeyi, he found the tasks challenging. In the restroom, Lin desperately urged Fu Zeyi to emerge.
Jian Bufan overheard him talking to himself in the mirror and was puzzled by Fu Zeyi's behavior. Separately, He Bei'er confronted Fu Shengrong, demanding that Fu Zeyi kneel and apologize to the He family. When Fu Shengrong protested, she threatened to accuse the Fu Group of infringement and demand compensation instead. Fu Shengrong attempted to manage the situation.
He Bei'er made it clear that while she wanted the two families to continue their cooperation, her demands were specifically targeted at Fu Zeyi. Fu Shengrong felt that they had no other choice but to concede.
Episode 16 Recap
He Bei'er arrived with a group, initially seeming to confront Jing Zhixia, which Jian Bufan quickly moved to counter. However, He Bei'er dismissed Jian Bufan as a mere "kid" and clarified that her target was Fu Zeyi, not Jing Zhixia. She then entered Fu Zeyi's office, demanding compensation from the Fu Group for allegedly stealing her designs.
He Bei'er, an independent designer, claimed the Fu Group had plagiarized her proprietary designs for a new furniture collection and demanded 500 million yuan in copyright fees. She declared that if the payment was not made, Fu Zeyi must publicly kneel and apologize at a major event, specifically mentioning the upcoming press conference, to atone for a previous incident where he abandoned their enterprise marriage alliance.
Jing Zhixia, who was present, reacted angrily to He Bei'er's excessive demands, but "Fu Zeyi" (actually Lin) agreed to pay the 500 million yuan, asking for a day to prepare the funds, with the contract signing set for the following day. After He Bei'er left, Jing Zhixia expressed concern about raising such a large sum in just one day.
Lin, still portraying Fu Zeyi, stated they needed time to devise a plan, believing that the real Fu Zeyi would have acted similarly. Jing Zhixia then suggested that Fu Zeyi might have left something important on his computer. Lin admitted he didn't know the password. Jing Zhixia tried her own birthday and then her name, which unexpectedly worked, unlocking the computer. Inside, she found Fu Zeyi's comprehensive analysis and strategies for all his clients.
Just then, "Fu Zeyi" (Lin) received a call from Fu Shengrong, who questioned his decision to pay 500 million yuan and potentially kneel. Fu Shengrong slyly suggested that since He Bei'er was only targeting Fu Zeyi, he should resign to protect the Fu Group and avoid kneeling. Jing Zhixia, listening in, immediately suspected Fu Shengrong and He Bei'er were colluding, especially since Lin had only agreed to compensation, not kneeling.
When Jing Zhixia confronted Fu Shengrong, he claimed he had spoken to He Bei'er to plead for Fu Zeyi and she had insisted on the public kneeling. Realizing Fu Shengrong was not offering genuine help, Jing Zhixia curtly ended the call. Fu Shengrong later mused that his nephew, Fu Zeyi, was "not an easy opponent." Jing Zhixia felt that only the real Fu Zeyi could resolve the current crisis.
The next day, at the Fu Group, He Bei'er arrived expecting "Fu Zeyi" to either pay the compensation or kneel. However, "Fu Zeyi" (Lin) presented her with newly acquired copyright documents. Jing Zhixia had discovered that Fu Zeyi had anticipated He Bei'er's move and had already secured the proprietary rights for the designs from all other co-designers involved in the revised project.
Lin, following Fu Zeyi's detailed plan, informed He Bei'er that her original design claim was now invalid and offered her 100,000 yuan for her "hard work." When He Bei'er questioned his ethics, Lin, in character, declared, "Ethics is a tool used by the weak to tie down the strong." He then revealed that He Bei'er had a history of plagiarizing other artists' works, and one of the victims was his friend who was prepared to sue her. "
Fu Zeyi" (Lin) offered He Bei'er a way out: if she knelt and apologized, a video would be sent to his friend, and the matter would be resolved. With her demands nullified and facing potential legal action, a furious He Bei'er was forced to kneel and apologize, with Lin recording the act as evidence. Meanwhile, Ai Xin was constantly pressured by Fu Shengrong to keep a close eye on Fu Zeyi.
This put her in a difficult position, torn between her gratitude for Fu Shengrong's past sponsorship and Fu Zeyi's mentorship. Jian Bufan, observing Ai Xin's distress, visited her, expressing concern. He shared his suspicion that Fu Zeyi might have a mental problem, recounting an instance where he saw Fu Zeyi talking to himself in front of a mirror and mentioning that he and Jing Zhixia had previously seen Fu Zeyi at a psychiatric department.
Ai Xin, though troubled, asserted her loyalty to Fu Zeyi due to his kindness towards her and said she couldn't simply resign. Later, as Jing Zhixia worked late, she discovered a thief in the office. She quickly hid and called security. The thief found her and advanced with a hammer, but Lin appeared behind the intruder and knocked him unconscious. Jing Zhixia, startled, immediately hugged Lin and exclaimed, "Fu Zeyi, why did you only show up now?
I was so scared." Lin was surprised by her reaction, realizing her first thought in danger was for Fu Zeyi. Lin then sought out Mo Ziqi, expressing his worry because Fu Zeyi had not appeared for a long time. Mo Ziqi explained that Fu Zeyi's original personality being in prolonged slumber could cause significant harm to his body. He revealed that Fu Zeyi was his best friend and stated that from a medical standpoint, he had done his utmost.
Mo Ziqi implored Lin to cooperate with treatment and voluntarily leave Fu Zeyi's body so that the original personality could return. Lin felt that he was considered "redundant" and reluctantly agreed to Mo Ziqi's request, asking for some time. Unbeknownst to Lin, Ai Xin later met with Fu Shengrong, revealing her findings about Fu Zeyi's frequent visits to a sanatorium and his consultations with Dr. Mo Ziqi, a renowned psychiatrist.
Fu Shengrong learned that Fu Zeyi suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder and praised Ai Xin for her diligent work. Overwhelmed by her actions, Ai Xin tried to resign, but Fu Shengrong dismissed her request, telling her they would discuss it another time. Soon after, Jian Bufan, who had been investigating, found Ai Xin and overheard her conversation with Fu Shengrong. He confronted her, realizing that Ai Xin was a spy planted by Fu Shengrong.
A flashback revealed that Fu Shengrong had sponsored Ai Xin's education and then recruited her to work for him against Fu Zeyi, his biggest competitor in the Fu Group. Jian Bufan was deeply disappointed, understanding that her secretive behavior and her refusal to be with him were all due to her espionage. Ai Xin offered no explanation, only an apology, leaving Jian Bufan to lament the loss of the kind, intelligent woman he once knew.
Later, Mo Ziqi visited Jing Zhixia, hoping she could persuade Lin to leave Fu Zeyi's body, emphasizing that the body fundamentally belonged to Fu Zeyi. Their conversation was overheard by Lin, who was devastated, feeling that even Jing Zhixia saw him as disposable.
Episode 17 Recap
Guoqiang, feeling the toll of age, expressed his intention to transfer his equity interest in The Fu Group to Fu Zeyi, entrusting him with the company's future. However, Fu Shengrong appeared, presenting Zeyi's medical record and urging Guoqiang to review it before making a decision. Guoqiang, already aware of Zeyi's dissociative identity disorder, was visibly displeased with Shengrong's actions.
He pleaded with Shengrong not to oppose Zeyi, stating that he, as Zeyi's father, would ensure his son received what he desired. Fu Shengrong, however, was overcome with emotion, accusing Zeyi of causing his son Fu Zilin's death and claiming that Guoqiang and Zeyi owed him a life that could never be repaid. Guoqiang tried to calm him, insisting Zilin's death was an accident, but Shengrong refused to listen, fixated on his desire for revenge against Zeyi.
Guoqiang issued a stern warning, threatening severe repercussions if Shengrong dared to harm Zeyi, before collapsing from a sudden heart attack. Fu Shengrong initially reached for Guoqiang's medication but then, fueled by his deep-seated resentment, emptied the pills into the pool. Guoqiang looked on in disbelief before losing consciousness. Feigning concern, Fu Shengrong then called for help and had Guoqiang transported to the hospital, where doctors stated his condition was critical and he might not regain consciousness.
Meanwhile, Lin, the alternate personality, prepared to say his goodbyes. He apologized to Fu Zeyi for failing to protect their father and for selfishly keeping their secret, which had hurt Zeyi and his loved ones. He felt it was time for him to depart. Jing Zhixia met with Lin, confirming that Fu Zeyi had not returned. Lin observed her emotional state, noting that she seemed to be truly in love with Fu Zeyi.
Admitting he was a sensitive composer, Lin stated that it was inappropriate for him to be a third party between them and promised to return Fu Zeyi's body, only reappearing if absolutely necessary. He explained that as the second personality, he had always chosen to be a behind-the-scenes musician to avoid problems for Zeyi, though he harbored a dream of performing to a full house.
Understanding his aspiration, Jing Zhixia had booked an entire theater for Lin, telling him that even without other audience members, her presence alone was enough. Lin was deeply touched, agreeing that a single truly understanding audience member was all he needed. Separately, Ai Xin met with Fu Shengrong, presenting him with a watch as a parting gift and announcing her decision to pursue further studies abroad, a move she hoped would free her from his influence.
Fu Shengrong approved of her plans but urged her to return and continue working for him after her studies. It was through Ai Xin that Fu Shengrong learned Lin was performing at the theater with Jing Zhixia. He went there and was visibly moved by Lin's piano performance.
As Lin played a melody, Fu Shengrong recognized it as the first song his deceased son, Fu Zilin, had ever written, leading him to the shocking realization that Zeyi's second personality was, in fact, Fu Zilin. After taking Jing Zhixia home, Lin was intercepted by Fu Shengrong. Fu Shengrong confronted Lin, addressing him as Fu Zilin, stating he knew about Zeyi's illness and that Lin was the alternate personality.
He questioned Lin's willingness to simply vanish and encouraged him to embrace a life of his own. Fu Shengrong proposed a plan to find an overseas doctor who could permanently eradicate Fu Zeyi's original personality, ensuring Lin would have complete control of the body and no longer be a mere shadow.
He made it clear that he viewed Lin as nothing more than a temporary means to an end, and once his goals were achieved, Lin would also cease to exist. Lin, in turmoil, returned and confronted Fu Zeyi's reflection in a mirror, angrily demanding that he stop being a coward. He warned that if Zeyi did not return, their career, loved one, and very existence would be destroyed. Jolted by Lin's words, Fu Zeyi emerged from within.
The next morning, Jing Zhixia visited Lin, bringing him a vinyl record of a favorite musician as a "parting gift." As they listened to the music, Jing Zhixia fell asleep, unconsciously murmuring Fu Zeyi's name. Lin, observing this, gently covered her with a blanket, his heart sinking as he realized her deepest affections still lay with Fu Zeyi. Upon waking, Jing Zhixia felt awkward when Lin reached for her hand and decided to leave, intending to create distance between them.
However, she soon realized she had left her phone behind and returned. Lin took an unusually long time to open the door, making Jing Zhixia playfully accuse him of "doing something bad." She retrieved her phone, noting its low battery, and departed again. Shortly after her departure, Fu Shengrong emerged from the room, revealing that he and Lin had been secretly conspiring, which explained the delay in opening the door.
Back home, Jing Zhixia discovered a video recording on her phone, which captured Fu Shengrong's conversation with Lin. In the video, Fu Shengrong assured Lin that he had arranged for a doctor to permanently "wipe Fu Zeyi from existence" in exchange for Lin transferring the equity interest to him. Immediately after watching the incriminating footage, Jing Zhixia was ambushed and kidnapped by Fu Shengrong's men.
She bravely confronted them, threatening to expose their actions with her recording, but they seized her phone, stating all evidence was now in their possession. Lin was present during her capture and asked Fu Shengrong if she could be released now that they had her phone. Fu Shengrong observed Lin's concern for Jing Zhixia but dismissed it, ordering his men to hold her until after the upcoming AGM.
He declared that in two days, Lin would be the sole Fu Zeyi, owning the entire Fu Group, and Jing Zhixia would then be irrelevant. Jing Zhixia was bound in a room, and though Lin tried to reassure her, she defiantly cried out, "Let me go! I hate you! I hate you!"
Episode 18 (Ending) Recap
Lin confined Jing Zhixia to a room, telling her it was the safest place for her. Jing Zhixia desperately pleaded to be released, crying, "Let me go! I hate you! Don't hurt Fu Zeyi! You can't do this to him!" Lin, however, was resolute, stating, "It's too late. No one will get in my way again!" His goal was to acquire everything from The Fu Group.
He then met with Fu Shengrong, who believed Lin was the personality of his deceased son, Fu Zilin. Fu Shengrong reiterated their deal, telling Lin to stay away from Jing Zhixia and to sign the equity interest transfer verification that he would receive tomorrow, after which everything belonging to Fu Zeyi would be his.
Unbeknownst to Lin, Fu Shengrong's true intention was to ensure that the treatment would be fatal, preventing Lin from ever waking up once he was abroad, thus allowing Fu Shengrong to secure the Fu Group for himself. Upon returning, Lin attempted to force Jing Zhixia to eat, but she refused, stating she would rather starve than touch anything he made. Lin expressed surprise that she wasn't angry with him, to which she sarcastically replied that she liked him.
He questioned her feelings, asking why she loved an "arrogant and selfish" person like Fu Zeyi. Jing Zhixia retorted that no one deserved her love more than Fu Zeyi, detailing his selfless actions and sacrifices for her. She concluded by firmly stating, "I love Fu Zeyi. I only love Fu Zeyi. I will only love Fu Zeyi for the rest of my life." Lin, visibly hurt, dared her to repeat it, which she did without hesitation.
Overwhelmed, Lin told her to "Get lost, then. Get out of my house!" before leaving. However, he then muttered to himself, "Zhixia. You must wait for me. Just stay there and wait for me. I'll be back." Lin then brought the signed documents to Fu Shengrong, expressing his readiness for the treatment. Fu Shengrong confirmed that a flight was arranged for that afternoon to send Lin abroad for the procedure.
Lin remained unaware that Fu Shengrong intended the treatment to be fatal, effectively silencing him forever to secure The Fu Group for himself. Following Lin's departure abroad, news circulated that Fu Zeyi had died in the hospital. Fu Shengrong moved swiftly to consolidate power, with several shareholders encouraging him to step into the chairmanship to stabilize The Fu Group.
At a shareholders' meeting, where Fu Shengrong was about to be elected chairman, some shareholders voiced their suspicions regarding Fu Zeyi's sudden death so soon after his father's supposed retirement, suggesting it was more than a coincidence. Fu Shengrong attempted to dismiss their concerns, claiming Fu Zeyi suffered from depression and had been preparing for his "affair in order," even presenting a fabricated medical document to support his narrative.
As the moderator prepared to announce Fu Shengrong as the new chairman, Fu Zeyi dramatically entered the room, declaring, "I object!" His appearance shocked everyone, especially Fu Shengrong, who believed him to be gone for good. Fu Zeyi confronted Fu Shengrong directly, mockingly asking if he was supposed to have committed suicide due to depression, then accused his uncle of trying to kill him.
When Fu Shengrong called it "nonsense" and pointed to the medical record, Fu Zeyi played a recording of Fu Shengrong's voice, clearly instructing his secretary to arrange a doctor to ensure "Fu Zeyi is silenced after the treatment." The shareholders were aghast, realizing they had been fooled. Fu Shengrong frantically claimed the recording was fabricated, but Fu Zeyi revealed that Fu Shengrong's secretary, Ai Xin, had recorded the conversation.
A flashback played a snippet of the conversation Fu Shengrong had with what he believed was Lin, where he discussed getting rid of Fu Zeyi and warned "Lin" to stay away from Jing Zhixia. It was then, seeing the real Fu Zeyi, that Fu Shengrong finally grasped the truth: he had been speaking with Fu Zeyi, not Lin, all along. " You set me up," Fu Shengrong exclaimed. Fu Zeyi replied, "The wages of sin is death."
Fu Zeyi then presented further evidence of Fu Shengrong's treachery, confronting him about his father's sudden illness. He revealed a button his father had torn from Fu Shengrong's clothes during his seizure and, more damningly, played surveillance footage from that day. The video clearly showed Fu Shengrong callously pouring his father's life-saving medicine into a swimming pool instead of administering it.
The assembled shareholders were furious, denouncing Fu Shengrong for his unforgivable actions against both his brother and nephew, declaring him unfit to lead The Fu Group. Meanwhile, confined to her room, Jing Zhixia discovered the food Lin had prepared for her was burnt and had salt instead of sugar.
This minor culinary mishap, combined with her memories of "Lin" always having such trouble in the kitchen and their earlier poignant conversation where she declared her love for Fu Zeyi, made her realize that the person who had been with her, trying to cook, was indeed Fu Zeyi, not Lin. At that moment, Jian Bufan arrived, sent by Fu Zeyi, to release her. He told her the police would arrive soon.
Jing Zhixia immediately drove to The Fu Group to find Fu Zeyi. As Fu Shengrong desperately tried to maintain control by asserting that he held the share transfer agreement and Fu Zeyi lacked the power to remove him, Fu Zeyi simply pointed towards the police who had just arrived. An officer informed Fu Shengrong that he was a suspect in a murder case and requested his cooperation. Feigning compliance, Fu Shengrong agreed but then abruptly bolted.
Fu Zeyi, along with the police, gave chase, but Fu Shengrong managed to escape into an elevator, vanishing into the underground garage. As Fu Zeyi lost sight of Fu Shengrong in the garage, Jing Zhixia, who had been frantically trying to reach him on the phone, finally appeared. Just as Fu Zeyi turned towards her, Fu Shengrong, driving a car, veered directly towards Jing Zhixia.
Without a moment's hesitation, Fu Zeyi pulled her into a protective embrace, taking the full impact of the vehicle, which sent him flying. However, it was not Fu Zeyi's primary personality that absorbed the blow, but Lin, who had manifested and sacrificed himself. As Lin faded, he spoke to Fu Zeyi internally, explaining that his purpose had been to accompany, protect, and heal Fu Zeyi from his guilt over the past 22 years.
Now, with Jing Zhixia capable of loving and healing Fu Zeyi, Lin felt he could finally depart in peace, bidding Fu Zeyi farewell. Fu Zeyi cried out "Lin, no!" as he watched him vanish. As Lin sacrificed himself, Fu Zeyi was flooded with memories of his childhood. He recalled being kidnapped with his older brother, Fu Zilin. When Fu Zeyi was scared and cold, Fu Zilin sang him a lullaby, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," until he fell asleep.
Later, while the kidnappers slept, Fu Zilin untied himself and then freed Fu Zeyi. As they tried to escape and startled their captors, Fu Zilin bravely told Fu Zeyi to run ahead and not look back, acting as a rear guard. Tragically, Fu Zilin was then struck and killed by the kidnappers' car. This harrowing memory underscored Lin's final act: once again, a part of Fu Zeyi's fragmented self had sacrificed itself for him.
Lin reiterated to Fu Zeyi that he could now leave in peace, assured that Jing Zhixia, a kind and wonderful girl, would take care of him. Shortly after, the police arrived and apprehended Fu Shengrong. Fu Zeyi was hospitalized with a mild concussion but was otherwise stable. He wanted to visit his father, Fu Guoqiang, who was still in surgery.
The doctors confirmed that Fu Guoqiang's two surgeries were successful, and he was out of critical condition, bringing immense relief to Fu Zeyi and Jing Zhixia. Later, Ai Xin visited Fu Zeyi to bid farewell, announcing her decision to resign and go abroad to pursue a doctorate in law. Fu Zeyi thanked her for her crucial role in exposing Fu Shengrong's crimes. At the airport, as Ai Xin prepared to leave, Jian Bufan unexpectedly appeared with his luggage.
He initially claimed to have been scouted by an overseas basketball team at the same university, but when pressed by Ai Xin, he confessed he had not received an offer and was simply there to follow her. Back home, Jian Qian, upset by his son's abrupt departure without even informing the doctor, complained about Jian Bufan prioritizing love over family duties, lamenting that he had "forgotten about his father."
Jing Zhixia gently reminded him that Jian Bufan had his own aspirations, adding that he still had her, his "adorable niece." Later, Fu Zeyi invited Jing Zhixia out for dinner, telling her he had something important to say. At the restaurant, Jing Zhixia noticed the staff preparing for a romantic proposal and, recalling Fu Zeyi's earlier call, optimistically wondered if it was for her.
During their meal, Fu Zeyi, after some playful banter, presented an engagement ring and formally asked, "Zhixia, will you marry me?" Surrounded by cheering diners, Jing Zhixia happily accepted his proposal, and they shared a passionate embrace and kiss. At their wedding, the host announced that Fu Zeyi had prepared a special "song of love" for Jing Zhixia, reflecting their fateful meeting.
However, when the music played, it was a recording of Jing Zhixia's earlier fervent declaration to Lin: "I will repeat every word of it. I'll make it clear to you that I love Fu Zeyi. I only love Fu Zeyi. I will only love Fu Zeyi for the rest of my life." Jing Zhixia was utterly mortified and shouted for it to be turned off, claiming they played the wrong file.
Fu Zeyi, however, found it "sweet" and let it play, much to her embarrassment and the amusement of their guests. Playfully, Jing Zhixia "fired" the technical staff, to which Fu Zeyi lightheartedly agreed. Despite the humorous mishap, they exchanged rings and sealed their union with a loving kiss.
